    As a good Canadian kid that grew up just across the line in Tsawwassen, BC, I'd sad that border has to remain closed right now - but for both countries, it is the right thing to do.
    I'm also glad that a ferry service has finally been put into place. Honestly, Point Roberts should have one at all times. It doesn't have to be a high frequency route, but always having that regular ferry link to get across the bay to Blaine would be huge.
    Ferries are very common in both British Columbia and Washington state, and due to the border being drawn the way it is, Point Roberts has always virtually been an island - now more than ever. I hope post Covid a regular ferry service at least a few days a week opens up - for both passengers and vehicles.

    • @jeffmorse645
      @jeffmorse645 3 года назад +7

      The Canadian border should be opened at Point Roberts only. Then Canadians with properties in PR can check on them. PR residents can shop in metro Vancouver. There wouldn't be any entry into the US on the land border at Blaine by PR residents. We're talking 1300 people here - none have tested positive and any impact they might have on COVID cases in BC would be negligible (if any at all). Canadians are more a danger to them than they are to you given their almost complete isolation.

    I'm sorry that we, Canadian's, couldn't accommodate Point Roberts. But to open the border would create another 'Alaska loophole'.
