That's a really practical slim SAK ! Thanks for highlighting the advantages of the Wenger scissors. The serrations are perfect for moustaches and fishing line 👍 So jealous 😜
What a great knife. I Need one now. FYI the Alox models at 93mm. Surprised he was able to get the longer tools in with minimal modifications. Great tool set.
Victorinox is reviving the name Companion with a 91mm model, similar to a Climber but with a new box opening tool instead of the can opener and a nail file instead of the small blade.
The 93mm reamer is in it self a multitool. My 84mm Alox project have the reamer, a modded 91mm scissor and the blade from a Sakai SAK in ZDP-189 steel.
Great knife! I also thought having those both „special“ blades in one knife would be great. Since I always carry at least one bigger and more capable anyway, I‘d even skip the big blade for a saw. Would make a great combo with a single knife, and then either a single pliers like Knipex Cobra or a Multitool with good pliers, e,g. The Crunch.
I switch between a customized Surge and the Alox Farmer X and I love your tool. The only tool I'd add for my purposes would be a saw but that things bang near perfect.
My very fav 84mm, is the Classic +, and Plus 2, also known as the Micro Farmer. I have every color made in the several year period Swiss Bianco commissioned them. I luv the main blade, and a second small blade, with standard tool set and a saw. That is perfect for me. So I carry the silver and keep all the colors in a display case. I think I have 5 or 6 different colors sets, for both models, and about 30 different Cadet colors and varieties. Cadet has to be the best knife for daily use.
That's cool! I often am vexed by the configuration of many Victorinox models. Either the hawkbill or electrician's blades would be far more useful to me than the second pen blade. I don't know why more of their knives don't do that main blade + combi tool combination the Compact does. I drive a desk, but I need a small flathead and small Phillip's head screwdriver a lot because a lot of the equipment in my office is constantly in need of adjustment (think monitor stands and things like that). I really wish there was a thinner 91mm SAK with the inline Phillip's (not the one that replaces the corkscrew). Yeah the can opener works, but it also sucks lol
I don’t understand why victorinox doesn’t expand the line of the Cadet. It’d easily be a winner. They have absurdly good quality products, but they limit themselves imo. They are already at the top of the game, don’t get me wrong, but they could be on a different Universe altogether if they went just the extra step.
You just reviewed what I always dreamt off to get from victorinox. I have a harvester but always wanted an Electrician with scissors, and you own one better. I envy you, man
Cool knife! I'm just starting to get back into slipjoints. I've always liked SAKs but never saw one exactly like I would want it. I guess I've got a new rabbit hole to explore.
I heard. Not sure how I feel about it yet being in the FREE frame still. Major improvement on the file, still the same magnets though. In my profession, that is simply a non starter.
Interesting stuff, Ben - could you say something about what kind of use you get out of the hawkbill blade? I usually only see those on gardener's knives.
I cannot imagine how a 3-rd pruner blade can be more beneficial than a can/bottle opener with a screwdriver. In my opinion, the best Victorinox option is the ability to unscrew or pry something in a pinch. Nevertheless, Cody did a great job customizing this knife.
Hey there my friend this was a great video and great mod as well! But I am just wondering if you were going to come back and do any more videos? We haven't seen YOU in a while hope you are doing well and God bless you and happy father's day
Thanks for asking, Johnny. I recently discovered this channel and started buying Leathermans that I didn't know I needed until now. I too was wondering what was going on. Luckily Ben has a ton of videos uploaded that are fun to watch and informative, so it'll take a long time to get caught up. Hoping for new releases nonetheless!
Hi Dan I know you have reviewed in the past( which I own, and really like) however have you come across any information in regards to a pocket clip for it? Thank you.
The one I want... Large/small/corkscrew, scissors with Compact's hook, and large serrated/combo tool/awl. I've got a NIB serrated Spartan and near new Compact waiting for me to have the funds to have it done. 91mm, three layer, is a good size.
Question for you, I’m looking for a companion tool for my new curl and I’m questioning the micra and the sog snippets (I know they are discontinued but I have seen a few still floating around)? I really am drawn, the thing I care most about is the scissors themselves
Good morning Ben. I enjoy all of your video’s and thank you for them. I would like to get a custom knife from him and told him this but there are so many options and if and when i order it-i would second guess what i picked and or if i should have gotten something different is all? Love all my leathermans and my knives for what they are and do! Thank you again and have a good day
I enjoyed making the knife for you! Glad to see that you are pleased with how it turned out. 👍🏻👍🏻
Such a great build.
Great job buddy!
Excellent work sir!
Great review and great build.
@@Grayson_Baker actually the nicest Vic I have seen.
Gorgeous knife! I love that "pruner" blade so much - Wish they'd put it on more SAKs!
Very cool Ben! Awesome tool set. Fit to Survive is a genius.
That's a really practical slim SAK !

Just went to his website and WOW!!! The guy makes some really nice knives. Incredible job.
Very nice! One of these days I'll get mine done lol. And yes, Cody does excellent work!

You’re absolutely right! I knew that too. I must have eaten a big bowl full of stupid this morning.

Funny I just watched one of your older vids where you talk about wanting this exact model and here you just uploaded it !

I don’t know if you’ve seen it yet but you should check out the Leatherman Surge.
About a month later victorinox launched their own companion; although the toolset and usecases are kinda different
Great knife I like your tool selection.
Great looking knife, 👌
You just reviewed what I always dreamt off to get from victorinox. I have a harvester but always wanted an Electrician with scissors, and you own one better. I envy you, man
This knife has already proven itself extremely useful. I love this setup. Wish Victorinox made a similar model.
It's been 2 months since your last video, where are you? Maybe a short to let us know, what's up?
Nice mod, but 91mm scissors can put in to the 84mm cadett! But it needs a little bit adjustment.
No can nor a bottle opener, this thing must come from another planet 😋😋
Never considered using the awl with a draw cut to open packages. Goin' to give that a try, Thanks.
Cool knife! I'm just starting to get back into slipjoints. I've always liked SAKs but never saw one exactly like I would want it. I guess I've got a new rabbit hole to explore.
Leatherman is getting ready to launch a new multitool called the Arc.
I heard. Not sure how I feel about it yet being in the FREE frame still. Major improvement on the file, still the same magnets though. In my profession, that is simply a non starter.
The pruner hawkbill blade is an even greater package opener.
Interesting stuff, Ben - could you say something about what kind of use you get out of the hawkbill blade? I usually only see those on gardener's knives.
Awesome video, very cool new knife, and would love to see a video of a center drive driver on a surge.
I cannot imagine how a 3-rd pruner blade can be more beneficial than a can/bottle opener with a screwdriver. In my opinion, the best Victorinox option is the ability to unscrew or pry something in a pinch. Nevertheless, Cody did a great job customizing this knife.
It’s meant to be paired with a multitool, which will have locking versions of all those tools.
Nice ! My “ Go to “ Vic. Is the old Skool Alox Electrician !
Cool knife. Crazy question... Texas cutting mat where do i aquire that .

I want one…Mora Companion is nice too. 😮
Hey Ben, I was just thinking I hadn’t seen a video from you in a bit. I hope everything’s good and you’re just busy with work/life…
I’ve got so much work I can hardly keep up, and it is a welcome change considering the last couple of years.
Thanks for asking, Johnny. I recently discovered this channel and started buying Leathermans that I didn't know I needed until now. I too was wondering what was going on. But yours is very interesting, well done... well done!

Just curious why you want the hook tool?
There's already a Victorinox Alox Companion in 58mm size.
Hope your ok Ben ?? Miss your videos . Hope your just busy with work making a fortune . 🙏🤣🇺🇸
All good! Tons of work right now.
OK good !!🛠️⚒️🔨🙏🇺🇸😊
Nice knife! I want an alox model with Electrician Blade, full Metal file and a 3d screwdriver
i want one
Is there a way to get a custom knife or multi tool for under 200 dollar ?
Damn I was hoping that victorinox finally made a model with both of these blades on it lol
I wish they did too.
Ben, I know that this is strictly off topic, but do you have some videos on making a good knot. Thanks.
For what application?
@@txtoolcrib well just a good knot for tying down say garbage on a trailer? Simple yet solid. Thanks Ben.
If you do add the centerdrive what's the plan for the current driver on the surge?
Undecided at the moment.
How’s it going Ben ? 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great. Work has me super busy, and I’m not complaining one bit.
It has been 3 months since your last post (today is June 21, 2023). Please post more if you are able.
Question for you, I’m looking for a companion tool for my new curl and I’m questioning the micra and the sog snippets (I know they are discontinued but I have seen a few still floating around)? I really am drawn, the thing I care most about is the scissors themselves
Micra, without hesitation.
@@txtoolcrib thank you! I think my decision has been made!
Mines the tinker like mac carried
you'll need a new name or if you add the new package opener it will be as fitting

Great video, except that you kept calling the big alox victorinoxes as 91mm 🤣🤣🤣
Yep, I realized that mistake too late.
Opinions on the Leatherman Arc?
Undecided. I like that they are trying new implements. However, I don’t think I will ever be able to get with the magnetic architecture.
