I don't get why people prefer "fall of davoth" theme, I mean, this is literally the best tribute to classic Doom and Mick Gordon stuff, its amazing, how someone who played Doom can dislike this masterpiece?
The pace of the fight/ music most likely. As a tribute I like this one, but knowing how micks work influenced the speed of the game with doom 2016, it just feels odd to have a slower boss track even if the boss fight itself is slow. Fall of Davoth is what I imagine mick might have made for it if he were the one behind the composition but with a more iconic flair to it

I don't think people realize this, but listen carefully to the music, imagine the synth/choir is the dark Lord, and the strumming of the guitar is the doom Slayer, both synth and guitar and going back and forth, like they are fighting to be dominant, like the dark Lord and the slayer fighting. it's actually a genius music detail that I think no one noticed.
Remember: Doomguy was actually trying in this battle, as Davoth was a Primordial, like Doomguy, and the only thing that can kill a Primordial is another Primordial. Doomguy was literally fighting the one remaining being who could still kill him.
Still Andrew's best track, and one of my top favorite final boss themes if not the #1. The fucking SHEER adrenaline going through this entire theme is just... LEGENDARY

He punishes you really hard for your mistakes, but falls apart very quickly if you are consistent with damaging him at the right time and know how to use the hammer. It kinda feels like dueling someone with the armor powerup in quake and winning. But you should see for yourself tbh
I feel like all of these OST’S mixed into one is showing the Player (The Slayer) of how far you have gone, From endlessly killing demons to finally ending Hell’s Wrath by killing the Dark Lord.
I think the greatest part about Davoth’s design is that it implies he created Doomguy in his image with the intention of fighting him as his only equal one day.
It's probably why he was so graceful after he loses. He knew that the Slayer would be both his vengeance against the things that betrayed him and the one to face him in the end. He knew that one of them would die, and that was that.

Davoth's revival means he could basically be in a form of his choosing (considering his power and all), which means he probably intentionally mimicked the Slayer, as it was the form of THE strongest warrior around.
