You stumbled upon probably the most talented of heavy metal bands, and the one with arguably the best singer.
Queensryche were incredibly versatile and singe Geoff Tate is one without parallel in rock music.

YES! to the comment below. This song is a Queensryche outlier. Most of their incredible music is heavier, but very melodic with great lyrics. They are very versatile in what they can do musically. They're "classified" as progressive metal, but really are in a class all their own!
Please listen to the studio version of "Silent Lucidity" with orchestral arrangement. It's a truly beautiful song about lucid dreaming.
Also try, as mentioned below, "Take Hold of the Flame" live in Tokyo 1984.
    Plus:
    "Another Rainy Night"
    "Anybody Listening?"
    "Eyes of a Stranger"
    "Breaking the Silence"
    ""Walk in the Shadows"
You won't be disappointed, and I wouldn't be surprised if you fall in love with them!

Guitarist Chris DeGarmo was the heart of Queensryche in their rise to the top... it was a sad moment when he opted to leave the band he had founded and guided since the early 80's in 1998 (He hasn't been involved in music since he contributed to Queensryche's 2003 album 'Tribe'). He wrote this song around 1990 for his young daughter about dreams she was having.
Queensryche is famed for being a heavy metal band... but they did have subtle songs like this one... 'Anybody listening?' ... 'Della Brown' ... 'I will remember'. Their 1994 album 'Promised land' was mostly an acoustic record... dark, subtle songs like 'Bridge'... 'Out of mind' ... 'Lady Jane'... 'Someone else' ... the epic song 'Promised land'.
The heavy songs include - 'Eyes of a stranger' ... 'Take hold of the flame' ... 'Walk in the shadows' ... 'Empire' ... 'Sign of the times'... 'Revolution calling'... 'Damaged'... 'Jet city woman'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥

Thank you. I've been listening nearly constantly for two days.
Years ago, probably around the time of this song, read "Creative Dreams". I understand the idea came from the book. I can't find it, had to reorder it.
I'll be checking into the albums you listed. Thank you

Is that an E11 blaster on your bookshelf behind you? Love that you have huge collection of CD's and DVD's. I can't quite make it out but is that Cody or Rex on the face of what looks like a collectors steel book or lunch box on the shelf below the blaster?
Sorry but I got distracted as my inner Star Wars nerd kicked in when I saw those items... moving along now.
This song is full of subtle little moments of genius where the music compliments the lyrics.
    Great reaction.

IMO, this is one of the most beautiful songs of all time. This live performance, while amazing, is very stripped down from the studio version as the name unplugged suggests.
You really need to check out their Operation Mindcrime album. It’s a concept that tells a story from the first to last song and is kinda at the peak of their creativeness as a band. I thought it was the most amazing thing I’d ever heard at that point in my life and it holds up very well even today.

You aren’t wrong about queensryche music. This is a stand alone classic song that isn’t representative of the rest of their heavy music. It is incredible as well but if that kind of music isn’t your cup of tea you may not like it. But SL is one of the all time great songs. This was not the right version to hear but it is very beautiful with the muted acoustic sound. The guitar solo on normal live performances or the studio version is simply amazing

Read the book "Creative Dreaming", Chris DeGarmo got the idea from the book (and his daughter's nightmares).
As we sleep memories are processed out of short-term memory to long-term, linked to a more extensive set of associated memories; linking knowledge, conclusions, other memories, etc.
Seems possible that as rhese memories are accessed, some make their way into dreams.
Through taking control, we're about to learn how to slay (or tame) the dragons that visit our dreams.

    WOW!
Nice reaction to this beautiful song by Queensryche.
    I really really enjoyed it.
And it was a great pleasure watching it ❤️
This MTV Unplugged Queensryche Session is just incredible.
    What a performance.
I remember back these Days when it was showing on MTV.
    (Yes, I'm a very old Bean! ^^ from 1969)
And I was just blowin away.
Never seen or heard something more beautiful like this.
Queensryche - I will remember - they played this Song at the same night, is my favourite track from this show.
    About Queensryche in general.
    Master Lyrics.
Best Vocal Performance of all time : Take Hold of the Flame from 1984 live(!) in Tokyo - Geoff Tate sung an e5 Note, as should sung and sound.
    All this Overtones.
    His Vocal Range.
    Unbelievable High Quality Vibrato.
    He's a Unicorn in singing.
He's definitely the greatest Vocalist of all time and of the past 500 Year's.
Operation Mindcrime is the greatest Concept Album of all time.
Operation Mindcrime is the greatest Progressive Rock and Metal Album of all time.
Chris'DeGarmo is one of the most underrated Songwriter in Music.
Geoff Tate was trained by Classical Maestro: Mr. David Kyle.
And could sing, whatever he wanted to.
    Best Queensryche Album's Ranking?
    1.) Operation Mindcrime
    2.) Empire
    3.) Promised Land
Saw them a couple of Times Live.
    This Band was unbeatable good.
The DVD: Operation Livecrime shows this.
It also shows, what a great Actor Geoff Tate always was.
    He's just a Genius.
    He lived his Song's.
    Btw...
Listening to their Studio Records definitely worth it.
So many wonderful Sound's and Samples.
Listen to it to a great sounding Headphone!
How they put all these beautiful Sounds from left to the right.
In the background and than back 8n both ears.
    What next too listen to?
    1.) Silent Lucidity (Studio Version)
2.) Take Hold of the Flame (Tokyo 1984 - it shows what Range Geoff Tate has -the difference between Silent Lucidity and Take Hold of the Flame is unbelievable)
3.) Suite Sister Mary (taken from Operation Livecrime!)
4.) Please don't seperate Queensryche Songs! Talking about the Intro's and Outro's.) (Please keep them together-Waiting for 22 and my empty Room, for example)
5.) I Will Remember (MTV Unplugged Session)
6.) Anybody Listening? (But please not this short Radio Edit! The Original Version is about 8 Minutes long.)
7.) Queensryche's U2-Cover Version on Bullet The Blue Sky. (Another unbelievable Vocal Performance by Geoff Tate - nobody ever screamed at me, like this Guy - but my Mom! ^^) lol
    8.) Everything from Empire
    9.,) Everything from Promised Land
    10.) Everything from Operation Livecrime
    Because, you can't do wrong.
Everything from this 3 Records is s Killer - not only one Filler!
I hope you will enjoy it.
    Some called it Progresses Metal.
    Some other Metal Opera.
    And I called : Thinking Man's Metal.
Because Geoff Tate always hat this great opened Mind.
    Oh!
    Btw...
There's a little secret waiting for you!
At the End of the Song Silent Lucidity (Studio Version!)
    It's a hint.
The only thing I would like to tell you is : BRAHMS.
    Enough said... ^^
Let's see, if you will find out, what it really is!🥰
Another Fact is, Queensryche's near to Mozart.
Talking about this Vocal Jumps by Geoff Tate.
From low to the highest Notes.
    Bariton?
    Nobody knows...
Queensryche's Double Guitar Solo's is another thing you should listen carefully too.
Because it's not about how fast or how quick Guitarist are.
Or how long a Guitar Solo really is.
It just only has to be beautiful.
    A Melody.
And what the heck a song really means.
    Feeling it.
    Feeling a Song.
    Harmonies...
That's another big Thing about Queensryche.
Scott Rockenfield on drums with Eddie Jackson of Bass Guitar.
    This one perfect Rhythm Duo.
Same with Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo on Guitar's.
    Just playing Music - TOGETHER!
That's it, what is all about.
    And believe it, or not...
If you will a thousand times to Queensryche's Music...
And you will listen to it a thousand times more...
You will find something totally new!
    You never really heard before.
And that's it, what's makes them so special.
    Pure MAGIC!❤️

Listen to take hold of the flame live in Tokyo and killing words and I will remember both on Mtv unplugged in my opinion Geoff Tate has the best voice of all time

I know this is a bit late, but your surprise, unfortunately, doesn't surprise me. The label "Metal" is very deceiving. Queensryche is more Melodic Progressive Metal; there are many subgenres. If you'd like to hear the other end of his voice then check out - Queensryche - Live in Tokyo 1984 - "Take Hold Of The Flame". If you haven't already.

@@REACTIONDIARIES MTV unplugged format means ONLY acoustic instruments. So every song will sound there like a folk song, very soft.
