As Amyah prepares to go off to college, I'm reminded of a time when Amyah was 5 year old. She often spoke about how great of a high school student she was going to be, how she would always get straight A's, become president, and be a respectful child forever. She actually promised me at 5 years old she'd be a good teenager and SHE KEPT that promise. She's always been a very mature child, with a natural born talent to communicate with others. She was born with the "light" or "salt" of this world. I don't know about you guys but I know for myself it can be sometimes hard to identify what that light is in us. Abilities that come natural for us are sometimes sooo natural sooo ingrained in us that we just can't see it. Sometimes we need to look to other people *we trust* who can identify that specialness in us. And that's okay. However, don't ever underestimate looking towards God for those answers. When you see Amyah you can tell that she shines! So I often get the question "How did you raise her like that?" and my answer would be "I raise her well, but I can't take all the credit. She was born like that! and I'm making sure she stays like that!" I see it as my responsibility to protect her childhood so she can thrive in adulthood. But unhealthy relationships in childhood can often hide those talents and gifts under a bushel! I've seen this happen in many of my friends. It saddens and frustrates me. For some of us adults it's time for us to seek help and say "No, I'm going to let it shine". By grace we've been able to maintain and grow healthy family relationships! I'm grateful that when it's college essay time 1) Amyah comes to us for help!! and 2) we can help reminder her of all her special unique traits that God gave her.

You have come so far since your Baltimore days: you earned your doctorate degree, Joe is designing a room that looks worthy of a magazine spread, Amaya is going to college and, all the while, your family is still growing! All of this is so "amazelee"!
as a black girl currently applying for colleges as well, i see myself through amyah tremendously. i have an affinity for languages and cultures alike her and i’m striving for many prestigious colleges. as for her grades, most universities do take into account the 1st semester grades, something referred to as a “mid year report” that her school counselor will have to submit for her through the commonapp. i love how eloquent you all are around amyah. you all have great advise, and i would have to agree with amyah’s aunt wherein the spark has to be prevalent and not glossed over essentially. amyah is a great writer and i can tell through the snippet we heard, so as long as she can keep a consistent flow i think the essay will be amazing. and with her youtube channel, and the extracurriculars in school alongside her amazing grades, i’m sure she’ll do great when decisions come around. good luck!
best of wishes to you as well for applying to colleges 🎉 it’s crazy to think I was in this position almost 3 years ago. WOW 😂 I’m almost offended when I see or learn of new seniors+ applying because I’m still thinking I’m one of them, though I’m a sophomore now. Reach for the stars
Amayah is so fortunate to enjoy the environment/guidance of two educated women, her mom and aunt. Joe complimenting guiding this beautiful girl, just aMAZEing. These kids will do well studying in their future endeavourements. Few families on the USA vlogs encouraging real education. MazeLee and Akeeba tops on this, congrats.
She has enjoyed an amazing childhood with parents to look up to and emulate. She has been well prepared for higher academics and, by the grace of God, she will excelle and become a further shining example for her siblings to follow. Her parents created the best and strongest foundations for her to build upon. God bless you all.
I wish I’d had this kinda support system when I was graduating from high school. Love this! I’m sure Amaya will be blessed to attend whatever college of her chose.
Amyah is a star! She is so level-headed, kind, patient, and intelligent. We have all the faith in her ability to make her mark on the world! Amyah, you were born for this! 💥👸🏿
Not me wilding and cheering when we got to I let my subscribers write my college essays. Felt like I was in the room feeding off the energy. This was so special. A different angle in it takes a village. Love to see the family bonds manifest in this way. Go Amyah!! Go MAZELEE gang!!!
This is so beautiful watching the family work together for her essay ❤️ love it. Family that pray together stick together 🙏🏾. Congratulations on going to college 🎉
This video is now one of my FAVORITE RUclips videos of all time!!!! This was the ultimate living example of love, encouragement, teamwork, collaboration, brilliance, life lessons, assistance with finding/understanding a purpose/passion!!! Amaya, may your college experience increase your innate genius abilities; be enriching, wholesome, well rounded, and more fun than you can imagine!!! You can ONLY soar from here!🖤✊🏾
I’m 18, only a year older than Amaya, and so it’s cool to connect with more people my age and see that we share similar ideas! I’m going to start college soon, in the spring!❤
I was equally impressed with Amyah’s baby brother, who didn’t flinch or react to all the excited talking or Mom’s energy when she couldn’t sit still in her excitement in the moment. 😂 its a sign, he’s use to it. I love it, this is a baby that doesn’t require silence to sleep I bet.
Bravo! I never comment but had to for this. There was something about what we all just watched and it didn’t require anything snazzy! A family backing each other up. A high level of creativity and intelligence in one room. An active family invested into one another. Encouragement and celebration with honesty and informative feedback. Seriously! Loved everything about this. Amyah is a bright light and God genuinely created her and your family in a special way.
so nice hearing adults speaking of a child and to a child so positively , encouragingly about her deeds and efforts and future BUT honestly hoowee i loved this vid
This is how families should sit down with their children and have educative intelligent discussions to shape up the future of positive well admired and respected families. Well done
Congratulations Amaya on your decision to attend college that is a decision that you will never regret. Stay focused on your journey and you will excel
As a med student who sits on the admissions panel at my school, I can definitely agree with the importance of authenticity vs trying to craft yourself into a unique case. I can’t even begin to tell you about the amount of medical school personal statements I’ve read that have contained, “a tear dropped down my face” or “I felt frozen in place” or “that was the moment I knew”. The purpose of a personal statement is to give admissions the chance to see who you are beyond your grades and SAT score. It may be that your experiences are very similar to many kids out there, especially today when it is quite common to find young social media influencers. But no one will be able to tell your story in the way that you can. Don’t focus on flowery language but do focus on the story that you’re trying to tell. If something is cohesive, relatable and honest, you have more of a shot of grabbing someone’s attention rather than a beautifully crafted yet disorganized story that may pop up in your interview. Good luck!
Please tell Amaya to add her youtube experience and followers to her admissions essay, they want influential students at their university it's great promo for them. Can't wait to here her decision of what school she is going to!
Amayah, as an avid watcher of your RUclips and aspiring polyglot myself, you have 100% inspired me to learn know more about other cultures and languages. As an African-Australian, watching someone around my age learn and share with others your experiences in learning languages and culture truly pushes me to grow my skills. Your tips and tricks have been helping in my study even beyond learning languages. I’m hoping to one day become a medical doctor and i employ your study tips so often in my uni studies. Continue the hard work, and pray God may guide you in every step you take. You’re impact reaches worldwide.
Lovely synergy in helping with this stressful college essay!!!! Amyah - any college would be lucky to accept you for what you add to a class. You have conducted yourself so admirably in these videos and this is authentic to who you are. Anyone could see your bright light and lovely personality. The way you care for your sisters and your brothers is honest and true. It's not easy being the big sister and setting the example for the rest to follow. Intelligent, curious, generous, resourceful, thoughtful, and beautiful are the adjectives that describe you. You are an amazing daughter, sister, student, and friend. May God place a hedge of protection around you as you enter your college years and grant you success at every good thing you set your hand to do.
I really really like the way auntie is speaking, her English accent is articulated and nice vocabulary. I keep watching this part. Thanks so much for your advice. So wise
for me, as a 32 year old Spanish American, amyah has inspired me due to her active enthusiasm and roll within her family in many ways - not limited to her language skills, but also it seems she loves to be charismatic, loving and present. Amyah, is such a pioneer within the RUclips community her young age , her eloquent nature is beautiful, uniqueness, zest for life and PERIODT. LOL GOOD LUCK and remember God is ALWAYS walking next to you- a pillar of strength even when you feel weak, inadequate or like someone is better than you- NO NO - GOD CREATED YOU shine bright girl!!!!!
I have been watching the baby boy the whole time during the video. What a great life experience for him! Hearing and learning to recognize all the loving voices of the family around while being in the protective arms of Mom or Amaliah. Already involved in her sister future ! How wonderful !
I wish I had people around me like this growing up. This is beautiful to see and she is tremendously blessed. I remember going though high school alone and not having anyone to help me get through it, nobody to talk to, nobody to encourage me and nobody to give me advice. I was a teen walking through a world blind. Amaya is going to go far. I live vivaciously through their videos because I’ve never experienced this and I adore them so much. ❤ go Amaya! Amazing job aunty,Joe and mom!!!
How beautiful it is for Amyah to have you all and for you to have her! We can all see the brightness and brilliance in her through years of watching just minutes at a time in each video. Her presence radiates that strong! Such a talented young lady, you are going to do so well Amyah! Good luck and congrats on your future endeavors!
Congratulations Amyah!!! Stay focused on God. The best advice I can give as a senior in college is to put HIM First I failed so many times when I put School above him. I promise you choose him he'll make everything fall into your lap 🤎💕🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 we're children of God, we don't have to hustle God makes it happen for us💖
That was amazing! I loved the collaborative support, encouragement and inspiration Mya received. Just when she was getting discouraged and thinking she couldn't do it Mommy Mazalee sparked creativity inside Mya! What a teachable life moment! Great teamwork! Go get your college Mya!
Love the guidance you guys are giving her! ❤️ And I love that you’re telling her to be authentic. Honestly I’ve heard so much starting from my college entrance essay to applying for jobs after college that I just need to fluff things up and that’s what everyone does. First of all it fuels imposter syndrome, and second it makes you feel like there really isn’t something special about you that can help you achieve your goals. It’s so great that you guys helped her realize that she doesn’t need to dramatize things bc she is enough, she just needed to find the right words to express it to others. When she gets into college she’ll know it’s her authentic self that got her in. And it’s her authentic self that can do all things through Christ who strengthens her! Great family moment ❤ Spending quality time, giving honest and constructive critique, but also genuine support and love.
I love Akeeba!!! She is such a teacher Auntie ❤️ Alena, your children are so very blessed to have a family that values education the way that you all do❤️ Go Amaya!! Wishing your college days and beyond, so much happiness and success🙏🏾
This family is truly inspirational, the way you all collaborated to get Amayah on the right track for her college application essay, UK calls it personal statement, was absolutely brilliant. Wishing Amayah all the best in her endeavours. Baby boy is looking so handsome and growing well. Love to you all.
Man, if only I had family support like this when I was entering college... This family is truly a family in every sense of the word. Amyah is so blessed. Amyah, as you enter into the indecisive and untamed world of college, take your love for God, prayer, and the foundational love and support of your family with you. There is much strength in the previous that will help you weather the storms of challenges for times when you have to stand out as a young woman of faith and color. Be the best while doing your best. You are so blessed and loved. You got this! 🙏🏽❤ Go with God.
They are so excited about this college essay!!!!!! It's the love, attention and dedication that can't be replaced in this family ❤️. That was awesome 👏🏾👏🏿👏🏽
This was ahhhhaaamazing to watch!!! As a mom of two daughters, one that just completed a 4 year degree and one that’s about to enter college, I could soooo relate to the conversation. You guys are just so amazing, educated, articulate, and supportive!! Ughhhh I just love it!! I’m so appreciative for the jewels y’all dropped in this video. Amyah you are blessed to have a Grade A team behind you girl!! Good luck to you, I know you will make a mark wherever you go to college and beyond!! ❤
Finding this channel makes my heart bleed and melt at the same time. How you interact and support your children is beautiful to experience, especially if you have never had any such interaction or support from your own. You are teaching and interacting with us regardless of whether you are aware or not. I have found a mother where there is none. Asante Saana❤
Omg this video is reminding me about what inspired me to go down my path. This is such a beautiful and critical moment in Amayah’s life that you guys are capturing. It’s going to be incredible for her to look back at this and watch. Im so excited to see where she will go with the amazing and fruitful foundation you all have provided her with.
Auntie is so supportive explaining clearing to Amaya how awesome she is and don’t know it. She’s so shy! FAMILY in put is a blessing to pour into her. WISDOM AND LOVE🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This is, by far, my favorite video from you guys. It's, also the very first video I've ever commented on. I wish your family could see how much I smile when I watch your videos. You are an amazing young woman, Amyah, and you'll do amazing things. You have a fabulous team, filled with love and support for you. And this video, definitely, captures just that. Great work, guys!!!
Amyah is so blessed to have such wonderful and intelligent elders! She will be just fine in college and in life!! I love this family and hope to have such a bond when I create a family of my own one day ❤️
Amyah is destined to do so many great things and certainly make this world a better place. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to watch her grow up. She has a beautiful smile and a sweet, kind, and selfless soul that already makes the world brighter. Love you sweet girl! ❤️
Amayah don't forget about your amazing app you made, and your aunt was right u inspire alot of ppl to wanna learn another language....you got this collage here you come....you are hope for the next generation we in safe hands..
I love this conversation. My daughter is also facing all the same things. Lagging on the essays, the authenticity of thoughts. I played this for my daughter…needless to say we are finalizing and editing her essay over the holiday weekend to give her the BEST shot at acceptance to one of the schools of choice. Best of luck to your baby.
I'm currently applying for grad school and I was stuck on the personal statement/essay part of the application. I am not one who likes to write, but I am glad I watched this video. I learned so much and have a much much better idea of wat to do now. Thank you!!!!
omg i loved the collaboration in this video!! 🥺💗 she is so blessed to have a strong support system at such a young age. would love to read Amyah's essay once she gets into college!
Amyah has definitely inspired me to get my daughter a Japanese tutor. She’s so into Japanese culture so why not learn the language. Love this family talk around her origin story.
Congratulations to her! I’m currently in my junior year of college studying music therapy and my instrument is harp! College is a rough road but it goes by so fast. My advice to Amyah is to take your time, take your studies serious, but always find time to take care of yourself, make new friends and have fun. Always communicate with your professors and advisors if you have any trouble. And don’t ever let college get you to a point of feeling so stressed that you want to pull your hair out! Take care of your mental health and if anything starts to make you feel down, your parents are people who are there to listen, as well as good friends and counselors that are available at school! There’s never anything wrong with asking for help. And finally, NEVER compare yourself to any of your peers, or anyone in general. College isn’t a race! Always know you will succeed with your smarts, and strengths at your own pace! I had to learn all of these things thus far in college the hard way. I am wishing you such an amazing college journey. You have an amazing, and experienced support system! ❤️
Jada your advice to Amyah is spot on & since it's coming from u as a current college student. I hope that she really realize what u are saying & always know that her family is there for her. Amyah u will be great in college 💯%, just stay on top of your deadlines for all projects. Good luck & be safe 👍🙏.
That baby is super adorable! 🥰 and your daughter is lucky to have the support of educated and articulate family members. I have a masters degree and remember having to navigate my undergraduate and graduate applications on my own. I remember my college essays being super mediocre...lol. My high GPA was my saving grace back then. I am sure that your daughter will be accepted into the university that her heart desires. Good luck!
I love all the lessons, or “jewels” dropped in this video. My favorite parts went from bewilderment/frustration/overwhelmed looks in Amaya’s face in the beginning to the way her eyes light up at the end. The team effort, the way y’all collaborated and celebrated your efforts was so fun to watch. Great video 💞
You all have given Amyah a great foundation as she begins her college journey…I’m sure she will do very well. Great job Joe the decor / furnishings are beautiful…love the sofas. The baby is soooo cute! God’s continued blessings to the MazeLee family.
As somebody who speaks both Korean and Chinese I think my reason for learning was I had a neighbor who was CHinese and everyday I heard then speaking and honestly I was like I am so nosey and I want to know what they're saying. It became such an obsession that even my family started to encourage it .
It was so nice seeing the brainstorming with mom and auntie. I like that her step dad threw in his thoughts. Amaya will do well in college she is a very intelligent young lady. God Bless. 😊🤗
Congratulations to Amyah on going to college. I know she will do great. Such a beautiful and radiant smile. God bless your whole family. I just love the family unit that you guys have.
This is y I like this family. Your contents are spontaneous and authentic. Watching this, I felt as if I was sitting in that sane space silently Watching and listening to the conversation, like I'm apart of the family. You got this Amyah. Your future looks verrrrrry successful.
I am in the process of building my application for college in the USA as an international transfer student and you guys have sparked a sense of urgency for the writing process of my essays (which i haven't started yet/ i have written ideas here and there but nothing on my computer). I have primarily been working alone for this, and you reminded me that i should seriously get into teamwork for this. Thank you so much.
Amaya is amazing, wise beyond her years, level headed, brilliant and very inspiring. She actually inspired me to take up learning languages again. I have been involved in my family genealogy and on a quest to learn the languages of my origin places. I am certain she will do well in college and beyond. Her language skills will be a great asset to open many doors.
I loved how you all collaborated with her to come up with ideas for her essay instead of "taking over and telling her how to write it" as so many parents make the mistake of doing. You are very good at bringing out the best in your children that is already in them there just waiting to shine forth.
I went to university of Chicago and they thrive on out of the box essays like this. Every year they put out a selection of essay prompts but they are always unique and something that sparks creativity so I absolutely love this idea for a college essay.
I remember when Amyah was a little girl and now she is a pound teenager going to college. Congratulations to her parents for all the effort put in bringing her up. You have an amazing family.
Snippets of her life are captured in yt videos and shared with the world. That is a new concept in the general scheme of things (those born before yt was a big paying platform would understand). I feel her experience is unique in the dynamic that this creates; maneuvering life as a daughter of RUclipsrs. I imagine this gave her a skillset that in today's world is invaluable, but her family and what it stands for deserve a lot of credit for how secure, happy, bold, and intelligent she is. I am very interested in future or current studies on the development of influencers' children, as I am sure your family would represent the most positive side.
I loved that. Amyah had it in her but collectively her family pulled it out!!! So awesome- she is going to be great in whatever she wants to do. I love this family
I’m stuck on how Amaya has literally grown before my eyes! I can’t wait to see what the future has for her! She’s so sweet and beautiful inside and out! ☺️💕
This is so inspiring! I wish I had a video like this out when I was writing my college admission essays. I love how you all came together to help Amyah. It really does take a village.

The break down of how to write a college essay was so clear and purposful. I can apply this to my essay in the future. Straight gas!
This video was so entertaining to watch I love when family comes together and make a plan and make stuff happen. Amaya is so blessed to have all these educators in her life she's headed straight for the top gorgeous, smart, and family backing she got this good luck Maya!
Congratulations!!! Stay focused, take a major class your freshman year to see if you like it, be alert, keep your ears open, take a self-defense class, and have a check in process with your parents. as a black girl currently applying for colleges as well, i see myself through amyah tremendously. i have an affinity for languages and cultures alike her and i’m striving for many prestigious colleges. as for her grades, most universities do take into account the 1st semester grades, something referred to as a “mid year report” that her school counselor will have to submit for her through the commonapp. i love how eloquent you all are around amyah. you all have great advise, and i would have to agree with amyah’s aunt wherein the spark has to be prevalent and not glossed over essentially. amyah is a great writer and i can tell through the snippet we heard, so as long as she can keep a consistent flow i think the essay will be amazing. and with her youtube channel, and the extracurriculars in school alongside her amazing grades, i’m sure she’ll do great when decisions come around. good luck!
best of wishes to you as well for applying to colleges 🎉 it’s crazy to think I was in this position almost 3 years ago. WOW 😂 I’m almost offended when I see or learn of new seniors+ applying because I’m still thinking I’m one of them, though I’m a sophomore now. Reach for the stars
@@jeianalottie right ? it’s crazy, i feel like i should be in hs still frl. good luck with exams and enjoy your break, you deserve it :)
This family is incredible and it teaches me too on how to build relationship between my children.
Families that pray together stay together 🙏🏾
I'm sure you will be a success during college. Just a little information: the seasons of the year are not capitalized.
@@marietaylor5174 thank you ❤️ , and I was typing kind of fast while I wrote that so sometimes the typos happen lollll.
Good luck!!
@@SunnyGee-jd6pb thank you!!! ❤️
@@LexiNc8284 You are very welcome.
I can't get over how baby boy is holding his head up and looking around like he's 6 months old. 💙💙💙💙
Right?!?!! Beautiful baby boy 😊
Yes and the spitting image of his Dad!!!!!
so nice hearing adults speaking of a child and to a child so positively , encouragingly about her deeds and efforts and future BUT honestly hoowee i loved this vid
If only so many other children had this type of wisdom and love at home!! The world would be such a better place.
It’s impressive to hear the feedback she’s getting on how to make her essay impressive. I hope she gets into the college she desires.
Love how this family helped her work through her essay subject and style. ❤
Such an amazing intelligent family! Such a loving, caring, smart family. I love what Joe did in that room. Joe is a natural interior designer!
AMYAH IS A VIBE !
I love the family’s dynamics of brainstorming. Kudos.
I have been watching the baby boy the whole time during the video. What a great life experience for him! Hearing and learning to recognize all the loving voices of the family around while being in the protective arms of Mom or Amaliah. Already involved in her sister future ! How wonderful !
I am so appreciative of this comment. I was observing and thinking the same thing. 💙
@@DrJiles-gm8ks Merci 💙
God bless this family❤❤ I love how close and bonded they are, I love how Alena and Joe manage all the kids!!
Amyah is so intelligent, I love how the adults interact with her & give her incentive to enhance her own abilities. Amyah will be great!
I promise you choose him he'll make everything fall into your lap 🤎💕🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 we're children of God, we don't have to hustle God makes it happen for us💖
Amen 🙏🏽
Gooo little one you have professor s in the family 🏃🤗♥️🔥 you have everything .cool wish you the best
So refreshing. The support her family is giving her is a game changer for many young people.
And I love that you’re telling her to be authentic.
Great family moment ❤
Spending quality time, giving honest and constructive critique, but also genuine support and love.
Joe is a true designer. From a fellow designer. Great job.
I love Akeeba!!! She is such a teacher Auntie ❤️ Alena, your children are so very blessed to have a family that values education the way that you all do❤️ Go Amaya!! Wishing your college days and beyond, so much happiness and success🙏🏾
Joe, is such a huge beacon of positivity and unconditional love in his children lives, they have been so blessed. 🙏🏽🌹🫂🙏🏽👍🏼💯👏🏼
thought you said bacon....you said beacon....now im hungry.....ALL I SAW WAS "HUGE BACON" IDC IDC
The entire family is a huge beacon of positivity and unconditional love.
This family is truly inspirational, the way you all collaborated to get Amayah on the right track for her college application essay, UK calls it personal statement, was absolutely brilliant.
Wishing Amayah all the best in her endeavours.
Baby boy is looking so handsome and growing well.
Love to you all.
These close-ups of "Little Joe" are too much. He is sooooooo CUTE!
I love it when a family comes together
I just LOVE THIS. The collaboration of brilliant minds feeding the young great mind.
This is just soo refreshing 😭 Support is everything . The dissecting , the examples , the reflecting . Amaya is destined for greatness ! ❤
That baby is just listening and chilling!!🥰❤️ He will become as awesome as the rest of the brood!
What a blessed family! ❤
omg i loved the collaboration in this video!! 🥺💗 she is so blessed to have a strong support system at such a young age. would love to read Amyah's essay once she gets into college!
family helping her is so great. i love this.
God bless you.
Good advice
Thanks for giving good advice from someone close to her age generation.
Joe is great husband and a super dad , I love his vibes for his family, blessings.
Listen the eruption that went off when everyone's input started flowing and they figured it out was so heartwarming.
Good luck!
She personifies the first child. Shes beautiful like her mom.💝💝💝
Amayah is so blessed to have this chat with her family. This family is supportive.
The baby looks as if he was understanding the conversation. So cute your Little Joe.
I know it's crazy. I remember when Amayah was going into highschool and now she's about to graduate highschool. Wow!
I love how you guys work together as a unit.
Man….. I just love your family!!!!! So inspiring!!!!! You guys are doing it right….and sooo authentic! Just love it!!!!
This is so inspiring! I wish I had a video like this out when I was writing my college admission essays. I love how you all came together to help Amyah. It really does take a village.
Wheeew this video blew me away!!! Its so refreshing to see a family give sound constructive criticism with legit solutions. They were realistic and truthful while being helpful and supportive.
Enjoy, have fun, learn, and stay alert. Congratulations on your journeyer of learning more about yourself. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
