This one made me even more emotional because Kanye made a birthday video for Kim, and it was mostly about the bond she and her dad and it was the same Track. And like, FUCK that’s emotional.
My boyfriend died and his funeral was today. This song, which he said reminded him of me, was playing as we walked into the service. I felt like maybe it was a little sign he’s still here. I feel broken and incomplete without him. I miss him. I love you, Adam.
@@dylan6366This song is sung from the perspective of his late mother, Donda, in the form of a heavenly message of consolation towards Ye (‘Mari) with his grief, and growing worries as a father to his daughter North (Nori).
@ima hunt if only you knew the talent kanye is. Guys fell apart now since his mum died. When his head was in right place he was one of best on planet. You dont have to understand him. But if the singers from the biggest band of all time want to do song with him hes obviously not a "hack"
@ima hunt you're obviously hurting inside so you take it out on others. Because hurt people, hurt people. I hope you heal. "It's a hard road to heaven." Take care
the fact that Kanye doesn't even recall recording these vocals as he believes his mother was telling him what to say makes this song 100x more meaningful when considering that the song is Donda's perspective on North and Ye. Kanye also means 'Only One' which is why Donda named him that after her only son.
Those who judge wont understand until they are in "That Club"... it's not pretty folks. It's an ugly trip. I pray you have the peace beyond what is normal when you are going through your trip.
TheHokahSmokeKid So, you couldn't think of a valid comment that would suffice for, well whatever you were trying to do. Im assuming you were trying to start an argument with me. Save your little swears and childish words. You're not very good at starting an argument... Good day, Sir. :3
I just realized when he said "I talked God about you, he said he sent you an angel , look at all that he gave you, you asked for 1 and you got 2" he's talking about kim and north , Soo cute!!!! 😭💜
My mother died of cancer in 2015, every time I hear this song, the tears flow. My son was born in January 2022, and I hear mum speaking to me through these lyrics. This is more than a piece of music, it is a bridge to the beloved passed.
True that brother, I lost my mum to cancer in 2021 and have 2 young kids. It's breaks my heart that she can't spend time with them, and I know Kanye feels the same about his Mum. This song gives me hope that there is still a connection.
man im crying so hard right now... lost my mama this year in february and her first grand baby was in my ladies stomach smh. i named her after you mama and imma tell her everything about you. she looks just like you and smiles from ear to ear everytime i talk about u. the holidays will be rough on me with you not being here. if it wasnt for my daughter i honestly dont know how i could go on without u ma
The way "tell Nory' about me" hits soooo hard now that Donda has reached the entire world. When i hear that line it immediately puts the image of north dancing infront of Ye's childhood home in my mind. Art that reflect life like this is so much deeper and valuable than a hit.
My mom died April 28th 2018 and it has been the most painful and tragic event in my 39 years on this earth. This song brought me some comfort in a time where I don't have or couldn't find any . Losing the one who not only brought you into this world buy was the only person who loved me unconditionally and since day 1 had my back thru thick and thin. Thank you Ye for what now is and will forever be my favorite Kanye West track. I'm sorry you lost your mom too and thank you for sharing this story and song about her because it has really helped me deal and cope with the bitter reality that my beloved mother Sandra Lee Chiappe is no longer with us but I like to think she is free, and free to roam with Orion's belt up amongst the stars. I love you mom there will never be another and i still hope to make you proud as I always have wanted. Your only son ....Ryan
Ryan Chiappe lost my mom Dec 18th 2017, this song always resonates with me. I know my mom would also want my sons to know about her, and I will do just that with my two sons.
Paul said that he was playing the piano while he was telling Kanye how Let It Be was about his mom reassuring him in a dream. Kanye then said he wanted to make a song about his mom.
"Well, I Was Sleeping, Y'Know, And My Mother, Who Passed When I Was Very Young, Y'Know, She Appeared In A Dream, Y'Know, And She Told Me, Y'Know, Very Gently To Just Let It Be, And So The Next Morning I Went Right Over To The Piano, Y'Know, And I Began To, Y'Know, Write The Song, Y'Know"
@@bloomhh7639 He says that he had a dream, where his mother, Mary came to him and said "Let It Be" and he made a song about it! He talks about it in a lot of interviews
I love you Kanye. You got me through some of the hardest time of my life. Know the impact you’ve had on so many people, the way you express emotions others aren’t able to articulate and your deep immovable faith is what kept you going and keeps so many people going Kanye. I hope you know how much impact you’ve had on so many people. You gave me the strength to understand what it means to love without fearing the outcome. Today I can stand and say I talk to god about people that have betrayed me to my core, because it helped me realise I can never compromise on myself for how others treated me. I love you Kanye, thank you for this. I pray for you.
olli449 Why? He deserves the money less than anyone else. Did you see his shit at the Grammy's this year? He said Beck should give his award to Beyonce, because she is more artistic.. Ignoring the fact that Beck can play almost any instrument, and has a better voice. He blatantly uses autotune as well. Kanye does not deserve to be famous at all, he is a scumbag racist moron, who is somewhat talented.
^ You did NOT just say that Beck has a better voice than Beyoncé, and insinuate that someone's personality/acts should affect their career. I know it was insensitive of Kanye, but calm down
Maria H I just did all of those things. Beyonce has an excellent voice, but the fact of the matter is, Beck is more musically talented. And yes, Kanye West should not be an artist. There are plenty of people more talented than he is, who aren't racist scumbags who deserve the fame and fortune. People who aren't good people should not be successful in life. That's how it should work.
SteelersRule1011 well its not the world is gonna stay the same whether you like it or not and I hope it doesnt change because than awful people who hide behind computer screens trashing celebs and if someone says something dont say why dang you need to learn some respect
SteelersRule1011 Kanye West shouldn't be a musician? He redefined the rap genre (watch any rap critic or credible rapper's interview and hear what they have to say about him) multiple times within the span of his own career. Not only that he's made the careers of many artists: he reinvigorated jay-z's career with "izzo" and the watch the throne album, he gave john legend a career (signed under ye), he reinvigorated common's career, he signed and produced for big sean, kid cudi, etc. I can't even list how many things this guy has done and people still knock him because they don't know shit. You can't possibly imagine how hard it is to be a crossover star, making a genre of music that the mainstream doesn't appreciate but still making it big. Although it has yet to be seen if he will reach the heights of these artists, his career is comparable to those of michael jackson, louis armstrong, hank williams, etc. making an otherwise subculture genre into a fullblown mainstream one. The people who hate him are unfamiliar with his work, work ethic and frame of mind. You call him racist, but you don't provide anything to back it up. He's interrupted/called out black artists at awards shows WAY before he did it to Beck and even Taylor Swift, but no one cares, because they were black. I don't understand why people are offended by the incident even when BECK HIMSELF said that he thought Beyonce she should've gotten the award (and no he is not being modest). Also, Kanye never said Beyonce was more artistic than beck. He said beck should "respect artistry" which could mean a many deal of things. What I think he meant is that Beyonce's album was better than Beck's and that doesn't mean SHE is a better musician than beck, just that the collaboration effort of all of the producer's (who are artists in their own right) and her made a better product. I get the fact that Beck plays a lot of instruments, but is it that meaningful to be able to play all those instruments when you're only playing one at a time? It's only useful for the recording process but he can't perform them all at a time. And who do you think writes Kanye West's melodic arrangements, and who does the drums? He composes most of his music and although he doesn't actually play all the instruments in his music, he writes the partition so it is artistic in its own right. Finally, the fact that you can say that Beyonce's voice who has a much larger pitch range and dynamic range is inferior to beck's shows how biased you are, which is okay. However, you should have phrased it as "I prefer beck's voice", because objectively you cannot say that Beck's voice is better than Beyonce's. Sorry this was a very long winded response, but you addressed a lot of points and I didn't want to leave any behind. Hopefully, you read this.
when this song first came out, I thought it was lovely, but didn't necessarily relate to it. now, my mother is fighting for her life in an ICU... and its like a light switched on with my understanding of this song. it went from lovely to heart breakingly beautiful.
Say what you want about Kanye's last few albums, he's still the greatest artist of the 2000's period. Nobody has made more influential music or inspired a generation like he has.
I think all great artists have some misses. If you swing big and take risks it won’t always pay off. And it hasn’t always payed off for Kanye. But the fact that he’s willing to make the moves he does is precisely why he’s a great artist. And the fact that he’s been able to do it and exist in the mainstream is even more significant. Lou Reed and Bowie weren’t the top hitmakers of their time. His only equivalent is like The Beatles probably.
Idk. at first JIK didn't impress me. Played it through a couple more times, listened to it properly. Now one of my preferred Kanye albums. Not much of his I don't like though, tbh.
I read this after I posted just now. But I had the same feeling as you once I put this song on. Started my day with Champion this morning and then switched over to Can't tell me nothing. I love his whole catalogue and if you dislike Kanye don't ask me about him because I am going to ruin your day (respectfully).
this song has helped me deal with losing my mother. i understand why he became who he is after his mother died. you become a shell of who you once were for a while. The dude is grieving.
***** From my experience, you never stop grieving. You just learn how to deal with it better. It seems like He's finally snapping out of it though. I can see this song and video being part of his healing. It all sounds so soft and weak but losing the one person who has always been there for you unexpectedly will shatter one's reality.
+MarcAnthem grieving for the rest of your life ? Grieving doesnt mean putting yourself above others which is what kanye does . Grieving does not mean thinking youre a god and treating everyone else like shit,
for those who don't really understand the song, its supposed to be Kayne's mother looking down on him and singing to him from heaven. (nori is north's nickname and thats why she is asking Kayne to tell North about her!) plz thumbs this up as it may help someone lol
The best part of growing up is finally realizing and understanding the meaning of songs. This song randomly came on in the grief cave about 6 months after my mother passed and I cried for hours. I love and hate this song because it makes me miss her so much but also puts in perspective how great my life has become and to keep going forward. I hear her voice in this song and it is a reminder to keep your head up.
The song is not about North!!! The song is actually about Kanye's mother who died on November 10, 2007. When he repeatedly says "Tell Nori about me," he's referring to tell North about her grandmother. In the song, he's explaining the conversation he had with his mother and god. The song is called the "Only One" because Kanye's mother gave him that name. Biblically, Kanye means the "Only One." And sing he has "Only One" child, its dedicated to North so she knows about her grandmother. Kanye West is a lyrical genius! He had to pave his way into this business. Starting out as a college dropout who left art school to study music at Chicago University (where his mom worked). Everybody only knew Kanye at the time as a great producer. No one ever took him serious as a rapper until after his car crash (which he nearly died from) and made a video even with his mouth wired shut. Kanye West is/will be apart of the all time greats. He actually worked to get where he is now unlike most of these artist now a days just get contracts off of one hit records. I got mad respect for Kanye. To understand Kanye West you have to look at his documentaries to understand what he's gone through. So don't disrespect unless you know the truth.
Brought my son home from the hospital, played this song and cried harder than I ever have. Never understood tears of joy until that moment. Thank you Ye.
This song makes me cry without fail, even just thinking the lyrics in my head. My grandma raised me from the time I was 2 weeks old until she passed when I was 12. Things got incredibly tough for me after her passing - sexual trauma, constant new homes, mental health issues. Things that could have let break me, but I always had my omi in my heart. When I hear this song, it feels like she is speaking to me. I imagine her at her healthiest, smiling, and making wonderful memories with me. Thank you for being there for me and loving me unconditionally Omi. Thank you Kanye for your music getting me through the thoughest parts of my life
Ok, guys, let me tell you all something, I AM GETTING REAL SICK OF PEOPLE CLICKING KANYE'S VIDS AND THEN DISSING HIM! People, just because he married Kim K, just because he disrupted T-Swift and Beck during various award ceremonies, just because he can be very egoistic, DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN DISS HIS MUSIC! He is such a super talented musician, he has more than 20 grammies, so many platinum albums and singles, and he is one of the best rappers/producers out there. He is doing well in his career. And also, it's not like all you haters have NEVER DONE SOMETHING BAD IN YOUR LIVES! Everyone makes mistakes and does bad things, but people eventually learn. Do not diss Kanye's music because he can be an asshole. Oh and for the record, it actually annoys me that some white people in the comments trash this yet go on to enjoy Iggy Azalea. C'mon guys, its 2015, people need to stop bashing on Kanye just because others do. And i'm not a butthurt commenter lol, i'm just getting sick of seeing shade being thrown at Kanye no matter which site im on, FB, TWITTER, RUclips, INSTA.
+Raynald Tremblay Yeah, it's not the best but the ones dislike it because if the auto tune, but not because of the storytelling of it. It's a good song if you know what he's talking about
+Raynald Tremblay he's using autotune in two ways, to make his voice into more of an instrument and as an effect to change his voice, as the song is about his mother talking to him and his daughter from heaven.
yeah i know what the song is about thats what im saying. i dont care if its autotuned its the meaning of the song that i like people hate it because of the autotune not the song
Best Kanye song by a mile. No contest. This song explains Kanye’s entire psyche and materialises the love for his children and god like no other. You can feel the pain he felt when he lost his mum, the grandma to his children. Forever chills
@@_LUMBAGO_ Come To Life is a hopeful gospel song (so... every song off JIK and half the songs off Donda) with the lyrical capability of an xxxtentacion '17' throwaway. Everything about this song dwarfs Come To Life apart from production (because there's not much else you could add to this song without compromising the raw emotion)
Aniyah Easterling if he's so famous why isn't he on the bill board's hot 100 right now? I bet you can't name his last album without Google (don't lie to yourself)... Kanye should get a tax write off for the charity work!
He is famous, dumbass. He was in the best-selling and highly talented band The Beatles and now has a solo career. He still creates amazing music. If anything, Paul is the one giving this guy more attention.
For real, every one hates him and little amount of people listen to his music 🎵 but once he gone he will be hella famous and outta nowhere he is gonna be loved and missed by everyone :/ thats how famous people death is, they here and nobody cares bout them but once they gone people act as if they cared about them when they were alive :/
@@johnny614 i woudln't say little people listen to his music he's one of the best selling acts of the past 2 decades and has had like 11 albums get in the top 100 in a row. let's not pretend he's underrated. he's definitely an amazing artist but underrated he is not.
I will never forget when I went to a festival and Kanye was the only reason why I went. It was dark by the time he came on and I remember it was a rough patch in my life and listening to him perform Only One and it was slightly sprinkling over us and I looked up and just felt an emotion I will never be able to forget. I love Kanye’s music so much. Donda deserves all the love.
Quite a few artists do, hate that it can often be looked down upon. Don't think it's that different from using a distortion pedal while playing guitar.
+Dealth I really like it, but I would've loved it if it wasn't so autotuned. I see the artistic use for it in this situation with the overall sound, but toning it down a bit would've been nice. But otherwise I really do like it.
+Shane Benjamson The point of the song is not to show that he's an amazing singer. It's to pass the emotion and let you enjoy the song. The fact that its autotuned and he breaks it in the middle, like he doesnt give a fuck about guys like you
Kanye could make a song farting the national anthem, puking at the same time and his fans would love it, calling him a genius, ? are they spell bond? Zombies? Or is it Just plan ole love for Mr. West? Anyway keep ya head up.
If DONDA is anywhere near as heartfelt as this song it could end up being one of his best albums. This is my all time favorite Ye song, makes me tear up every time. Just thinking of the story behind it makes you really appreciate your mom/parents if you still have them around.
I know some of you out there have mixed feelings about K.West but you have to give credit on what made him rich. This is a beautiful song. The closer it brings lyrically.
When he says "and you're still my chosen one" I start crying. Makes me think about all of the mistakes I've made in your life and how my parents still love me and believe in me.
I usually don’t listen to rap at all but Kanye drew my interest with his behavior over the years and I’ve been very shocked at how beautiful his music is.
@Prodigal Son I'm guessing that sarcasm But all I heard him say about Hitler was that he loves him which as a Christian you are called to love even your enemies.
So many people complain about how much of a "rude, disrespectful, and outrageous" person Kanye West is, but at the end of the day, the man is completely talented with what he does. He makes true art, and although he may be very opinionated, aren't we all? I give him so much respect for his hustle, and for being in his daughter's life. I hope one day I can inspire the world with my music the way Kanye continues to do each day. Feel free to give my songs a listen, if you like what you hear, that's all that really matters to me.
Dylan Maharaj People hate. It's homo sapiens sapiens ugly nature and might have been our saving grace back in the day. It serves no purpose anymore. At the end of the day Kanye is just another flawed human. Until we have ubiquitous transhuman tech the any hate is unwarranted and useless. I am pretty sure this guy knows what he is doing even with the autism levels of eccentricity.
Tajujuan Hill people hate kanye for a few reasons, because he bashed on the sweety little america's princess Taylor Swift, and because of his straight-forward personality, in other words because he says what he thinks, and since our society is so...but soooooooooooooooooo dumb, we will keep hating on kanye just because others do, we dont need a special reason, if u ask a kanye west hater why he hates he will say "because his music sucks and he's an asshole" you can ask them to explain those words, and they wont be able to.....i personally like kanye west works, as a matter of fact, he's my favorite rapper, and maybe my favorite singer. people need to start listening to the lyrics of his songs instead of spreading this automatic-hate.
It is literally a trend to hate kanye west because the man is a freethinker. Sure he is eccentric but it is because he doesn't think like the average person, and the average person just does not understand Kanye west. People tend to dislike things they can't comprehend. Kanye West is too complex for the media, and the masses.
When this song first came out I didn’t think much of it but a couple years ago I lost my dad, my best friend in the whole world and every since then I can’t hear this song without bawling like a baby. It’s not my favorite Ye song but it’s the one that means the most to me. In a few minutes Ye was able to convey feelings that I can’t even begin to describe even years after losing my dad. All I can say is I’m forever grateful for this song because I’m still healing everyday and it’s not always easy to release these feelings on my own.
You guys all understand what this song is about right? I'm not looking for a fight here at all. But I have to say that I hope that all of your families are in good health and with you. Because how dare anyone spit venom at an artist creating something for his mother that passed away. Be human for a minute. This dude talks crazy sometimes, we all know that, but talk about saying crazy things. There are people that came out of their way to trash him here. That's absolutely sad.
i agree. I might not be a huge fan of some of Kanye's songs but i like the simplicity and the message of this song. Sadly haters are still going to hate.
***** How about "my dad released 5 critically acclaimed albums in a row that were featured in Rolling Stones, revived Jay-z's career, paved the way for lots of hip hop artists, has been awarded with 21 grammys out of 57, is considered the greatest hip-hop artist of our generation AND worked with Paul Mccartney."
JudyGarlandRulez152 ''Ok i'm done, I can't bring myself to troll.'' - I was being sarcastic, I'm English, The Beatles may aswel be a lesson taught in school, I was mirroring the tweets that were made about the collaboration, apologies if that wasn't clear, perhaps I didn't word it right.
“i know you’re happy coz i can see it so tell the voice inside your head to believe it you’re not perfect but you’re not you’re mistakes and if you knew how proud i was, you’d never shed a tear, have a fear, no you wouldn’t do that.” i was never the same after hearing these lines. thank you kanye.
I come back to this song when I think about the relationship I don’t have with my mother, how she wasn’t in my life, and how my granny stepped in and raised me. No matter the what I’ve done or been through my granny is the one I’ll tell stories about, because she loves me unconditionally. I cry when I listen to this song. I’ll tell my Nori about my granny when that day comes. She’s my Donda West. Your soul is beautiful Mr. West. Let the pain propel you to shine brighter than ever. Be blessed
ur biological grandmother is your actual mom. i was also partially raised by my grandmother and after she died i asked myself why it hurt so much. she was like a mother to me.
Idk why people hate this song. Just because Kanye used autotune? Everybody uses autotune but just because Kanye used it you hate it. If Kanye didn't use autotune at all, people would've hated the song saying, "Kanye can't sing, this song sucks." If Kanye used a little autotune to make the song sound perfect, people would've said, "Kanye is a fake, he uses autotune to make himself sound good." When he used a lot of autotune to get the emotion through like he did in this song, people still hating saying, "He sounds annoying." Kanye haters can never understand him. They just love to talk about the past. Get over it damn.
***** no people hate it because it's Kanye. They wouldn't hate it if it was Drake or Beyonce. The only opinion is that they hate Kanye. & they only hate him because of past incidents and what the media says about him. They don't know crap. & you didn't even make sense at the end of your comment.
His autone isn't used as a cop out for those who can't sing, his albums College Dropout, Late Registration, and Graduation actually had a lot of his verses without autotune
Doesn't matter that he uses auto tune. It's a musical source that should be utilised just like anything. The thing with Kanye is that he embraces it and uses it where it's best, and he has the musical theory knowledge to back that up
My dad died in 2014 from a battle with cancer and this song always makes me think of him. It makes me wonder if he would be proud of where I am and who I am now. I’ve been going through some tough times with trying to find myself and my direction. This song makes me feel like my dad is telling me that one day I’ll be the man I want to be. I cry every time I hear this song. Miss you dad. Thanks Ye.
i do really like the environment he choose to shoot this video in, it seems very beautiful, free, calm and peaceful, it represent what he feels towards his daughter.. I get it :p
The SurgeonGeneral ~edgy~ And what, he's richer than you. More famous than you. He can get anything he wants. And you're just living in your mom's house.
i dont necessarily like how Kanye West is condescending towards others alot of times, but i do think he is an exceptional and talented song writer, its obvious he loves his daughter as much as anyone can ever love another person.. but he is only human and has imperfections like we all do. so even though i dont agree with alot of things he says/does, i still respect him as an artist ...
There is no other song that brings tears to my eyes like this does. It's taking in all Kanye's life, from the mainstream pop-culture Kanye to down to Earth Kanye. It's the beauty in seeing how he is always seen by some, as an arrogant man with no care in the world but his fame and riches. The entire concept of Kanye being seen as this man that cares too little, and seeing this, is what makes it so beautiful knowing he's really just a man at the end of the day. Even he has emotions, no matter how much media tries to depict their harsh opinions on him and his family. Take away his money and fame, he's still Kanye. You can't match a man like this. He's been through the same trial and tribulations the next common person has. The difference is he's been able to live beyond them and succeed in his life through hard work and dedication to his craft. What kills a man isn't death, but his inability to live.
Dark Twisted Fantasy is, in my opinion, his manifesto. The whole thing talks about how he shouldn't be in this position, how he's a terrible person, how he struggles to be happy and ruins all his relationships. How the hedonism and arrogance is a coping mechanism for the stress and sadness. It's all in there. I'm not a fan of all his music but that album is one of the best ever made and it's as honest as anything has ever been.

I never realised before but this is about his mother and north. if you read it from his mother point of view its really sweet As I lay me down to sleep I hear her speak to me Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'? I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin' I know you're happy, cause I can see it So tell the voice inside ya' head to believe it (then this part is talking about how god sent him 2 angels, kim and north) I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel And look at all that he gave you You asked for one and you got two You know I never left you Cause every road that leads to heaven's right inside you So I can say (and apparently only one was what Kanye's mom would call him because I believe that's kinna what his name means) Hello my only one Just like the morning sun You keep on rising till the sky knows your name Hello my only one Remember who you are No you’re not perfect but you’re not your mistakes (and then the rest of the song is the same her being encouraging to Kanye and probably what she would say to him to keep being great. and the at the end she asks him to tell north about her "nori" = north Hey, hey, hey, hey Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about I just want you to do me a favor Tell Nori about me damn Kanye actually made me cry :(
In this song, I hear your happiness and sadness. I HOPE Kim and you Ye, remember how much you loved one another, and the greatest gift of all you two made together ❤️
This song makes me cry every time. These are the words I wish that my own parents said to me. To be supported and reminded that you’re not a piece of shit
Kanye is like the Michael Jackson of this generation. There will never be another Kanye West again. Appreciate him while he's still here. Ready for DONDA!!!!!
Kanye goes through peaks and valleys of intense self-importance and intense self-loathing. People interpret any kind of positive self-image as an attack on them.

+Angry Goat that's just part of rap man, everyone says they're the best. I never hear anyone hating on Eminem for calling himself a god for his song Rap God, only hate for Kanye
I’ll always support Kanye no matter what. His music got me through some of the lowest points in my life and I owe it all to Ye. I know he probably won’t see this but I hope he knows there are still fans out there who have his back. MY GOAT 🐐🐐🐐

It's weird, I fell in love with this when it first dropped in 2015. Never would imagine my beloved mother would pass away months later...and just like that, I accidentally stumbled across this in 2018, near her death anniversary
I’ve never had a loved one pass away, im 15 years old and have had a generally undisturbed life. No big losses really, but when i hear this song, I start crying. Kanye is a different kind of genius.

@ima hunt idk why. I'm actually not a big fan of Kanye tbh but this song especially paired with this video is really something special.

The way "tell Nory' about me" hits soooo hard now that Donda has reached the entire world. When i hear that line it immediately puts the image of north dancing infront of Ye's childhood home in my mind. Art that reflect life like this is so much deeper and valuable than a hit.

Kanye is the only musician whose music I won't pirate
olli449 Why?

Keep this man safe at all costs.
who tf listemning Kanye in 2024? All Gs on SIXMYFACE now
People who think this song is bad don't understand it
+Dealth I really like it, but I would've loved it if it wasn't so autotuned. I see the artistic use for it in this situation with the overall sound, but toning it down a bit would've been nice. But otherwise I really do like it.
or the other option. they just don't like it.
+Dealth People who think this song is bad heard it. That's why they think its bad, because it's shit.
+Dealth it's the music they hate, not the lyrics
+Shane Benjamson The point of the song is not to show that he's an amazing singer. It's to pass the emotion and let you enjoy the song. The fact that its autotuned and he breaks it in the middle, like he doesnt give a fuck about guys like you
I can really relate to Kanye West. He worked hard for a long time before being recognized in the game, he truly deserves the success that he has had.

I feel this is the truest Kanye song. It's amazing how much his tone changes from song to song. Kinda makes you wonder whats going on with him
Everything about Kanye West makes me wonder what's going on with him.
+Kevin Palombi haha so true
it's called autotune.
to me all his songs sound pretty much the same
Kanye could make a song farting the national anthem, puking at the same time and his fans would love it, calling him a genius, ? are they spell bond?

Kanye's songs just hit you in the heart. Even though he's wrong about a lot of things, I believe his pure intentions.
I usually don’t listen to rap at all but Kanye drew my interest with his behavior over the years and I’ve been very shocked at how beautiful his music is.
What is he wrong about?

Dylan Maharaj VERY well said, I totally agree
Kanyeezy Beezy Thank you bro, glad we're on the same page!
Dylan Maharaj No problem, btw man I checked out your music and you're pretty good, keep up the hustle
Kanyeezy Beezy Wow, thank you so much for giving my music a chance homie, I really appreciate it! I'll definitely keep it up!
Video's really cool, fuck the haters.
A dude's being sincere about his love for his daughter, how can you be against that?
Same man idk how you could hate him for making this
Tajujuan Hill people hate kanye for a few reasons, because he bashed on the sweety little america's princess Taylor Swift, and because of his straight-forward personality, in other words because he says what he thinks, and since our society is so...but soooooooooooooooooo dumb, we will keep hating on kanye just because others do, we dont need a special reason, if u ask a kanye west hater why he hates he will say "because his music sucks and he's an asshole" you can ask them to explain those words, and they wont be able to.....i personally like kanye west works, as a matter of fact, he's my favorite rapper, and maybe my favorite singer. people need to start listening to the lyrics of his songs instead of spreading this automatic-hate.
It is literally a trend to hate kanye west because the man is a freethinker. Sure he is eccentric but it is because he doesn't think like the average person, and the average person just does not understand Kanye west. People tend to dislike things they can't comprehend. Kanye West is too complex for the media, and the masses.
Its not about his daughter. Did you even listen to the song? Its from his mothers perspective about him when he was a little boy.
Andrew Bedingfield and relating to kanye with his own daughter.....
Hope you feel better soon ❤
Rip to your dad
You guys all understand what this song is about right? I'm not looking for a fight here at all. But I have to say that I hope that all of your families are in good health and with you. Because how dare anyone spit venom at an artist creating something for his mother that passed away. Be human for a minute. This dude talks crazy sometimes, we all know that, but talk about saying crazy things. There are people that came out of their way to trash him here. That's absolutely sad.
so true
word up
i agree. I might not be a huge fan of some of Kanye's songs but i like the simplicity and the message of this song.
Sadly haters are still going to hate.
But hey, at least North has one good thing she could say, "My dad played with a Beatle!" That's something worth being noted.
So nice of Kanye to give this unknown artist a chance
Paul McCartney is not an unknown. He started his career in 1957.
Phantomdirt It's all good in the neighborhood. Just phrase your comments correctly next time. Because as you know, Beatle's fan's are serious! Haha!
Phantomdirt And judging by the comments, there are a lot!
JudyGarlandRulez152 Haha agreed, I've editted the original comment, thank you.
“i know you’re happy coz i can see it
so tell the voice inside your head to believe it
you’re not perfect but you’re not you’re mistakes

you’d never shed a tear, have a fear, no you wouldn’t do that.”
i was never the same after hearing these lines. thank you kanye.

FUCK OFF, nbbody hates this song. Stop writing all that pointless shit.
SpartanNR1 you must be sleeping under a rock because a lot of people do.
SpartanNR1 i like that display
***** no people hate it because it's Kanye. They wouldn't hate it if it was Drake or Beyonce. The only opinion is that they hate Kanye. & they only hate him because of past incidents and what the media says about him. They don't know crap. & you didn't even make sense at the end of your comment.
They don't listen to the lyrics, they listen to the voice, that's why.
Any form of Kanye will always be phenomenal whether it's from The Colledge Dropout or T.L.O.P no one can deny he is a musical genius.
Darren Ha yeah genius by using autotune bs...
Thanks Ye.

Sorry for your loss. God bless you man.
i do really like the environment he choose to shoot this video in, it seems very beautiful, free, calm and peaceful, it represent what he feels towards his daughter.. I get it :p
lol no offense but
Kanye can't think that much
The SurgeonGeneral
~edgy~
And what, he's richer than you.
More famous than you.
He can get anything he wants.
And you're just living in your mom's house.
Finally . Someone who gets the aesthetic in the video
The SurgeonGeneral More than you ever could even think about thinking. Who do you think you are?
i dont necessarily like how Kanye West is condescending towards others alot of times, but i do think he is an exceptional and talented song writer, its obvious he loves his daughter as much as anyone can ever love another person.. but he is only human and has imperfections like we all do. so even though i dont agree with alot of things he says/does, i still respect him as an artist ...
Wow, amazing
Pushpop LoC that last quote was fire
Fam this was beautiful af : ' )
Dark Twisted Fantasy is, in my opinion, his manifesto. The whole thing talks about how he shouldn't be in this position, how he's a terrible person, how he struggles to be happy and ruins all his relationships. How the hedonism and arrogance is a coping mechanism for the stress and sadness. It's all in there. I'm not a fan of all his music but that album is one of the best ever made and it's as honest as anything has ever been.
Pushpop LoC I've been so lonely girl, I've been so sad and down
Couldn't understand why haters joked around
I wanted to be free with other creatures like me
And now I got my wish, cause i know that I'm a gay fish (gay fish)
*Chorus*
(Gay fish Yo) mother fuckin' gay fish
(I'm a fish yo) goin' on a gay fish
(It's alright girl) makin' love to other gay fish
*Verse 2*
All those lonely nights at the grocery store
In the frozen fish aisle feelin' like a whore
Cause I wasn't being true
Even though everyone said that I had to make a switch
(Gay fish) now I know that I'm a gay fish (gay fish)
*Chorus*
(Gay fish Yo) mother fuckin' gay fish
(I'm a fish yo) Goin' on a gay fish
(Now I'm where i belong girl) makin' love to other gay fish
*Verse 3 Rap*
I used to be scared, denying who I was
Acting straight but then going out to the gay fish clubs
Dancing with the Marlins making out with the all the Snappers
I'd take a Salmon home and work that Coddle Fin for hours
But now I'm out and I'm free to love what I want
Be it Yellow Fin or Bass or them trout in Vermont
I slapped that Holland ass, make that Grouper butt shake
I'll come to your house and have an orgy in your motherfuckin' fish tank (fish tank, fish tank)
*Chorus*
Mother fuckin' gay fish
(I'm a fish yo) Goin' on a gay fish
(Yeah now I'm where i belong girl) makin' love to other gay fish
*Verse 4*
I really get around I'm the slut of the sea
When i say I've got crabs I mean it literally
I was eating dinner and just had to go down on that Mackerel on the dish
Cause I'm the gayest of the gay fish (gay fish)
*Chorus*
Mother fuckin' gay fish
(I'm a fish yo) Goin' on a gay fish
Yeah now I'm where i belong girl
*Verse 5*
But I gotta settle down I can't be a whore
I ain't gonna just sleep with any fish no more
I've found me a lover, a brother who's a cross-dressing Cod named Trish
And together we are gay fish (gay fish)
*Chorus*
(Gay fish yo) motherfuckin' gay fish
(I'm a fish yo) goin' on a gay fish
(Yeah, now I'm where i belong girl) makin' love to other gay fish
(Gay fish, gay fish, gay fish, gay fish, gay fish, gay fish...)
I never realised before but this is about his mother and north. if you read it from his mother point of view its really sweet
As I lay me down to sleep
I hear her speak to me
Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'?
I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin'
I know you're happy, cause I can see it
So tell the voice inside ya' head to believe it
(then this part is talking about how god sent him 2 angels, kim and north)
I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel
And look at all that he gave you
You asked for one and you got two
You know I never left you
Cause every road that leads to heaven's right inside you
So I can say
(and apparently only one was what Kanye's mom would call him because I believe that's kinna what his name means)
Hello my only one
Just like the morning sun
You keep on rising till the sky knows your name
Hello my only one
Remember who you are
No you’re not perfect but you’re not your mistakes
(and then the rest of the song is the same her being encouraging to Kanye and probably what she would say to him to keep being great. and the at the end she asks him to tell north about her "nori" = north
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about
I just want you to do me a favor

Kanye goes through peaks and valleys of intense self-importance and intense self-loathing. People interpret any kind of positive self-image as an attack on them.

If you want self-loathing, listen to 808s and Heartbreak, where, among other things, he says "I'm a monster". If you want self-importance, listen to Yeezus, where he says "I am a God". Why are you being fighty?
