Subbed. Real info here. 35 and we are retiring next month in Philippines. Weird, but pumped for all the kids to be around their grand parents and experience culture!
The advice I give is #1-Have your finance's in order meaning if you don't have a month pension/ret/ss then you don't need to come yet. #2-Have some savings for your initial setup for housing, car, ect. And I have 3 different bank accounts that way if something happens to one I still have excess to money.
It makes me laugh that foreigners feel that they come here with a wad of cash/redundancy pay and get on by. 50k looks good in the short-term but it won't last long. You need an income, you need savings. I came here with 1M USD. I had already bought a house prior to relocating. Don't date online. Maybe meet someone in person.
I am actually heading back to the US for a couple of months in August, it will be interesting to see how things have changed. I love living here in the Philippines.
New subscriber here from northern luzon new follower too..i love this video..more to come with all the tons of advice keep helping others an advice is good.❤
@@imexpatbill yeah..navigating this life. We need to think twice or even hundred times in making e decision ..don't decide at the peak of emotion otherwise you'll be tormented for the result ..don't also decide when you are unhappy of stressed otherwise it will only end in chaos ..don't decide when you are sad you'll just end up regretting it. Decide by asking God what' to do ..sometimes it isn't always what we want but it the will of God.
Thought you were dead, seriously. You disappeared back to the US then nothing. Good to see you’re still above ground. Best advice I can give to any guy, eye candy gives your wallet cavities. Your money will be gone with the wind.
I believe between 2000.-2500./ monthly USD you should have a comfy living. Have enough funds to at least have finances to fly home. I always bring 2 credit cards and 2 ATM cards ( Charles Schwab and Fedility) no international withdrawal fee's. I test out both ATM cards to make sure your PIN # is working before your travel to the Philippines. Notify your banks that you're traveling to the Philippines. These are just my 2 cents... happy travels.
I try to look at it from a financial stability standpoint. Even if things don't work out with a certain relationship, my options are far greater there than in the U.S. Of course a steady income in retirement is crucial.
If you don’t have at least $3000 US coming in monthly- stay home. You’re broke there and here. You will be considered a squatter here and every blogger that says you can enjoy life on less is a scammer liar and low income.
I get it, guys are getting up there in age, some haven't dated much back home and somebody younger starts to notice them, it becomes intoxicating like a drug.
Expats should budget their money and not splurge over the capacity of their income, especially if they are retired. Pension money is limited. If you're receiving $2000 US a month, it should be more than enough.
@@imexpatbillFor some reason many want a partner as a maid. And of course, a maid has to be paid. My partner works, has her salary and can pay the bills. She wouldn't even want to depend on me. Our relationship is emotional, psychological rather than financial. It seems many expats are afraid of such kind of relationship.
Far too many ignore the warnings. Literally have those thinking they are going to live off 5k for the year. One guy had 30k and he wanted it to last 4 years but he gave 20k to the online girlfriend to build a house in the informal settlement…You’re unlikely to be welcome in the slums, informal settlements…so the WE relationship…quickly turns into you gave her a donation and you are on your butt.
I didn't mention the issue that if the expat has personality flaws or addictions not attended to, then the expat will bring them over to the new country.
@@imexpatbill 100% I have noticed nearly all the expats I have run into have something going on. Not all but most. Addiction, Metal Health, PTSD, ext....I support these guys getting care, I am just not sure adding in a new country with preexisting issues is always the best option. Which brings me to a decision I made, I am better off staying away from common expat hangouts. Last thing I want to do is spend 8 hours drinking in front of a bar with buy me drink girls, some guys think they are actually well liked or in love.
PH is heaven on earth for rich Filipinos only & not for foreigners to settle foreigners in PH can't own properties full business ownership & have very limited rights foreigners can be naturalized PH citizens if born & raised in PH like the prominent Spanish Ayala family which is not the case of newcomers
Great to hear. I just turned 50 and I'm trying to convince my wife to move back to her hometown of Bacolod. We have a 4 yr old son that I would like to grow up around a big close family. I like hearing that people are enjoying life there, gives me more hope and belief that I will also.
Yea I've been there twice for close to a month each time. I have a pretty good feel for it but nice to hear good things from non Filipinos who live there.
I've liked in the Philippines for over nine years, my expenses have never been under 3k per month. Do not believe these fools pedalling living like a king on 1000 per month....it's not true. Many things in the PI are fantastically more expensive than in your home country. I've seen so many men coming here trying to live on a reduced SS, just gave one a ride to the port so he could go back home where he could get some assistance.
living like a king.. Well there are 1millions dollars condos in manila and bars there one drink cost 100$ and restaurants with food for 400$ etc The budget is as always personal and no vlogger can say the exact amount u can live GOOD om 1000$ a month or bad its depending of how u live where u live and what u want in life According to the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), a lower middle class has a monthly income between PHP21,194 and PHP43,828, a middle class between PHP43,828 and PHP76,669, an upper middle income between PHP76,669 and PHP131,484, and a high-income (but not rich) class between PHP131,484 and PHP219, ...13 jan. 2024
Sorry to hear that guy, but at least he was smart enough to go home, as he can always come back. It would be tight living on 1K a month, a lot of giving up of personal comfort.
I still have a hard time accepting the fact that they believe they are stuck, unless there is some mental or legal issue stopping them. Just go to their embassy.

The pandemic realy messed my finances up but with the help of my wife and her dad we got through it and am now ok.
It messed me up, that I had to go back to the USA to work, took me three years to get back to the Philippines.
@@imexpatbill pleased you are back, I am still waiting for my private pension fund to be released (about $50k, maybe double that)
Good content in this video Bill. Lots of good info for everyone.
How is Robbie doing ? Good I hope.
I think he is moving just outside Boracay at the end of this month.

Love the Fidelity card, no atm fees.
interesting topic and perspective. that was quite interesting
Just my opinion, as long as your have your plan b & c you should be alright.

Bill its great to see you back in YT. I was wondering what happened to you coz you disappeared for a while. All the best to you ❤
Getting a little too old for the game.
when the party is over its over..many miss to realize that until its to late..
I guess in a sense for some, its like college party days again.
Sorry...there's simply to many vloggers in the Philippines !!
so true..same in Thailand and Vietnam..and they all produce almost the same content
All spouting the same thing day after day.
Most Philippine bloggers think that too.
Each location in the Philippines is different for costs so it is still good info if no other vlogger is in the area.

If someone is going to live on less, then something has to give, your living standard has to match your monthly budget.
Too much b/s on these channels..
I say make 3k and set a 2k budget. Your budget should never be your income
You can servive on 500 dollars month if your happy with a simple life
sorry pure BS
Not Kenny Loggins not Kenny Rodgers but definitely Kenny Rogers who sang The Gambler song
Ha ha caught my error, I meant to say not Kenny Loggins but Kenny Rodgers, got by the edit.
I lived there abd I know myself.
At least $2K a month..
No quick relationships..it is so hard to say no sometimes..
