There’s something about Guy that makes you just want to watch what ever he does as he put everything into it. He has something about him. Plus I’d love the bike
Agreed. He's just a down to earth proper bloke with bucket loads of talent, in front of the camera or on a bike. Turns up to do the job on his mountain bike wearing his overalls. How could you not love him.
Guy stop being so damn bloody modest and humble, we'll forgive ya! "I'm a bit of a bike rider..." good God man, you're one of the fastest men at the infamous most dangerous circuits in the world...the Isle of Man TT, who's had more podium finishes than most have had hot dinners! You're a gutsy exponent of all have a go heroes over the world. Keep on rockin n rollin Guy!
Steve McQueen made motorcycle rides in "Great Escape", even riding in German uniform on German bike, supposedly chasing himself! But it was Steve's friend, Bud Ekin that made motorcycle jump over fence! Not because Steve couldn't do jump, but for film insurance policy concerns!
Arguably one of the greatest scenes in movie history, I’d still love to see someone do it on the original or similar bike without a decent suspension n forks like that- but damn impressive as is!
Revisiting this video, as I do a lot because it's a recreation of one of the most iconic motorcycle scenes ever! Just gotta say, Guy, you are my role model. Such a class act! I wish you the best in everything you do! And I'll be sure to keep sharing this video with everyone I can!
McQueen rode & raced Triumphs so in the movie it was only natural to use them. That included their being painted in Nazi colors for the scenes with soldiers in uniform.
Awesome recreation from one of my favorite movies!! "Are you sure you're not Steve McQueen?" What a compliment!! Great jump Guy, You are a rockstar!!!!
This really is a "proper" RUclips channel. Excellent stuff. And Guy seems like such a nice, genuine, fun, positive and humble person. I'd love to meet him someday!
You gotta give us more than just a few minutes of Guy Martin a month!! Come on!!! He’s a genuine man and we like him. If you started posting more content of Guy in the shop you’d have 500,000 subscribers by summer. You’d breach a million by this time next year.
Actually Bud Ekins did the jump in the movie, because they wouldn't let Steve do it. Bud Ekins did a few stunts for Steve McQueen. Not that Steve couldn't do it, but he was a movie star, so they had Bud Ekins do some of his stunts.
Oh, I forgot... what a gorgeous bike... Are you listening Triumph? I’d buy something like that, in an instant, if Triumph made one... (seriously considering having one modified). A really nice kit.
david jones thanks, I’ll do that. I’d love to have another dual sport ride, something between 750cc’s and a liter, for just beating about the streets and trails. I currently have a 750 GS (because I’m vertically challenged) which serves me well for long/camping trips. Ideally, I’d love something akin to a street tracker.... I just love the look and feel of a flat track racer..
Steve McQueen was really before my time, but his movies are amazing, as I’m sure his life was as well. I can’t imagine though, that he enjoyed life as much as Guy Martin appears to. Such a down to earth person, I’d probably even watch him make a tea mug.
David Miatke my comment wasn’t a slight on McQueen... granted, he was (and in many minds, still is) the “most interesting man in the world”. Thanks to social media, the public gets to see a more intimate side to celebrities today. Guy Martin appears to be perpetually upbeat, and seems equally happy talking to a fan, making a tea mug, or tearing around the Isle of Man at 200mph... His celebrity does not appear to have affected his humble nature and passion to learn. I agree, McQueen was more than an actor... he lived the action life he portrayed on screen.
@@majorgeneralspencerreid6673 McQueen served in the US Marines, was a motor bike racer, race car driver and martial artist. Most of that era of actors had lives before their acting and during their acting. Paul Newman served in WW2, race car driver, actor and spicy sauce.
I'm 57,and after 36 years i've pondered what it is........IT'S JUST COOL,Steve McQeen...pete from england 2020 BTW you didn't pat the tank,the most important part !!!
Steve McQueen was an amazing man, taken too young who did all his own stunts. WoW to do it in the same spot as the ledge down himself sheer class guy, sheer brilliance!
I have been following this for two months now .. Big Lead up .. I just watched a Video getting a 1952 Triumph running that was used by Fonze on Happy Days.. the Harley's were too heavy for the Fonz.. the Triumph was sold to the movie set by Bud Akins..
Funny thing is Fonzi/Henry Winkler couldn't actually ride a motorcycle. The intro to Happy Days he was pushed into camera shot with out the engine running.
I was looking for a comment about Bud Ekins. Yes, Bud Ekins did do the original jump for the movie, not Steve McQueen. McQueen was an excellent rider, and even rode in the ISDT, but they wouldn't let him do the jump for the movie.
I say u must take notice of what your watching The team had guy practicing the day before with out the fench so that answers your question the tracks wer there because of the day before they put up the fench six months have been waiting to see guy do this.jump.Guy trains and trains he listens and that's why we all love this guy!
We built ramps out of all kinds of stuff when I was a kid. We where always too impatient to plan and calculate for safety and success. In the 70's our suspensions were lacking until about '76. Monoshock changed the world. We had fun on everything though.
It's amazing the Isle of Man TT racer that I idolize takes a month to work up to do a Jump I was doing at age 16 in 1976 on a Yamaha MX-125-C well I did bend the frame and the steel gas tank cracked and was leaking,.. Now days many 13 year old kids could do this jump on an 85 CC motocross bike.. Much respect to Bud Akins for making the Jump on a bike with so much less suspension.. Glad to see Guy wear Motocross boots and a full face Helmet . Motocross boots give a lot of ankle support..
It was 57 years ago which is quite amazing because I'm only 38. What an absolute legend

I truly believe Guy could do anything he attempts, he just puts his head down and gives it his all. Awesome.
and brews up!
could he ladder a chimney though?
@Bob Dobalina couple of pints and we could have a go :)
How about the Snake River?
Guy has to be the most lovable, genuinely, unaffected bloke, you could ever wish to work with.

Saw him roll up on a bicycle and had to think “That’s a bit ambitious!”😂 Well done Guy from across the pond!
What a great compliment by john layton! Guy absolutely smashed it
Fantastic!!! My wife looked over and said...”don’t you get funny ideas dude...”. I said “nah, my ScramblerXE is ‘different’.” 😆

Delighted for Guy!! What a ray of sunshine! Go on!!!!!!!!
Top top bloke you just can’t but like him. one of lifes genuin nice person
Guy Martin's Saga gains another verse.
"Just abit of a bike rider" lol seem like such a cool bloke Guy Martin. Hopefully I'll meet you at IOMTT one day when I get there from Australia

My new favourite Guy quote😂
Sounds like a builder “Got the brews, got the burgers, got the fence”
Awesome recreation from one of my favorite movies!! "Are you sure you're not Steve McQueen?" What a compliment!! Great jump Guy, You are a rockstar!!!!
Is the movie really that good, I'm thinking of watching it?
He's great and quite confident and humble, too.
Makes you realise how difficult the original was at an acute angle on an old heavy bike.
This makes you appreciate the difficulty of the original jump even more
R.I.P. David McCallum
My ankle is hurting. Let's go straight for big jump 😮
OMG, he actually does the jump in this video!!! 6:27
After months of hype and clickbait
Exactly months for an altogether 30 min video
you know it takes time to make them you idiot
Nobody asked you to watch?
Well done man ❤️👌🏻👍🏻.
Love the ‘ The wife can drive me van but I’m a bit fussy who drives it ‘ 🤣🤣.
"I'm a bit particular who drives my van." Guy Martin in a nutshell. What a great GUY.
A great bit of history + A great bloke + A great bike = A Great Day.
Been waiting for this! Smooth jump, no messing. Goo on lad! Gorgeous bike too....
I love that Guy can't even ride a bike without one finger on each brake lever at all times. 0:28
While riding uphill.
Absolutely amazing, everything fit together perfectly!

Steve McQueen never did the actual stunt. I hope they mention super star stuntman and BSA Bud Ekins, he dumped the BSA A65 in Bullit too.

''The director wanted to a close as possible to the original film'''............................apart from the bike then?
You know how much that original bike is worth to be chucking it over an 8ft fence?
Well it was a Triumph, not a Kraut machine.
@@x67th 🤣🤣🤣
Yea he jumped it on a dirt bike
Anyone that rides dirt bikes could have done that
I don’t get what the big deal is
Would of like to see him on a original period trumpy, not a new machine with 3+ length of travel
Magnificent jump and just clipping the wire at the end topped it off
How many videos have I watch
Before this one
Finally jesus
I don’t know how Guy can still walk around with those big balls
Made my day. Thanks, Thailand Paul

Listening to Guy Martin speaking is a lot like listening to a Fort Mc Newfie high on cocaine. Lol
A right addition to your CV 👍👏🙏
Love your work Guy
😍👍👍 been waiting for this. What a historic jump!🤟🤟
The thing that Guy and McQueen have that is similar is charisma. Each has a different brand of it, but they have it just the same.
That is so .....Proper !!
Those bike look amazing. Hoping to model mine on one.
well done dude...great choice from a superb movie
This man can drive a bike normal ppl can only dream about
I love this Guy! Awesome.
Martin's a Proper Guy .
Fantastic
Well done!!!
Quick question......why were there already tire tracks in the landing area during Guy’s jump?
They said he did and showed him doing practice jumps the previous day without the fence.

Not a well known fact McQueen was one of the Germans chaseing the stuntman when he did the jump
That was awsome...
Love the way guy doesnt give two shots about what anyone thinkd
If that doesn't deserve a right nice cuppa tea, I don't know what would. ☕
