@@JanosFabio YOU FORGOT THE JOJO REFERENCE WHEN THEY STOLE THE SOUND KING CRIMSON SOUND EFFECT WHEN MIKO SAYS “RIDLEY” AND SHE SLOWS TIME AND IT SHOWS THE KIGN CRIMSON SOUND EFFECT
There are several Ghostbusters references and a second LOTR reference to Gollum, plus Harry Potter, Metroid, Sonic, Godzilla, Dragon's Lair, Dungeons and Dragons, Atari, Nintendo, Half Life, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Kamen Rider, Star Trek, ET and tons more. The upcoming episodes later this year have even more. Sanitron was inspired primarily by Voltron but its fair to say Power Rangers if you like. Music is also by Voltron Composer Brad Breeck. You're right about Overwatch, its why the game is called Oversight. :)
Alright, you just blew my mind. I can't believe I missed all of those! You have to tell me which one was the Jojo's Bizarre adventure reference? I'm embarrassed to have missed it.
Anyone want to save Glitch Techs? Then this Petition might help ^^ chng.it/HvDsWTSVRP It isn't often that a series as recent as Glitch Techs in the past 7 months of it's release is rightfully deserving of the praise and the growing fandom surrounding it. It is the best show that's out there in 2020 and THE BEST that Nickelodeon has aired in a long while 👏👌 Help grow the community and spread the word.👍
At the beginning of episode 9, Miko says “Right on Ghost Recon” when Five is talking about his new stealth game, which is just a reference to Solid Snake. So it would only make sense that Miko’s line here is making a reference to Ubisoft’s popular stealth game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon.
- Whenever there is an establishing shot of the front of Neko's house, you can see that her street number is 1337, which is a reference to the old "leet speak' of gamers and internet users. - In the first episode, the drive through restaurant that Mitch steals from is called "Mama Miyamoto's spaghetti in a bucket". This is a reference to Shigeru Miyamoto of whom I don't need to inform you about. - the design of Count Nogrog is an amalgamation of Demitri Maximoff and Morrigan Aensland from the Darkstalkers franchise. - While Ally is a reference to Chocobos of Final Fantasy games, she also shows characteristic of Yoshi from the Mario games. Such as the long stretch out tongue, gaining mouth projectile powers from what she eats, and the fruits that power her up in episode 8 are very simular in design to the berries that Yoshi eats in Super Mario World.
There is a reference to “Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance” and “Kingdom Hearts 3” at the near end of episode 5 where Five and Miko perform a finishing blow on Nogrog, which is similar to that of the Reality Shift attack by Riku and Sora when they’re in The World that Never Was, and when freeing Mickey from the Heartless in the Dark Realm.
Woah no way! That’s an awesome find. Thanks for sharing. Sadly, I’ve never had a chance to play any of the kingdom hearts games but I hear great things.
I feel it’s also a smart reference to Mario’s voice actor Charles Martinet as it could possibly be a reference to how he auditioned and ultimately got the role. He disclosed how he had to put on his best Italian accent and he ad-libbed like crazy, mentioning spaghetti, pizza, etc.
i got that triple mushroom reference when i first watched. i love this show and i really hope they keep making the show along with awesome references to game characters and stuff.
As an Otaku, I can boldly say that the name of the first Glitch Techs episode, “Age of Hinobi”, is a direct reference to the Naruto series. Since they’re always talking about the “Age of Shinobi” . I could be wrong....but eh 🤷🏾♀️
In the Crystal Crush episode, When Miko says the phrase,” when I hear that pop, I just can’t stop!” It is, weirdly enough, a Pringles reference to their motto.
Here's another Mario reference that's in the pilot episode. The pasta restaurant that Mitch uses the Tech Gauntlet's mind wiping feature to steal from is called Mama Miyamoto's which is both a reference to Mario's catchphrase and Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario series.
I don't remember the exact episode right now, but I clearly remember a moment where Mitch came in a car and the horn was a fraction of Totaka's Song. I remember the horn sounding twice in the show clearly.
There's also a halo reference. In the episode with Ralphie Bear, in one scene Miko says "Master of all chiefs!" In another episode, the one where five captures an ultra rare glitch past the border of their city or something, Miko says something like "What is it!? Zombies? (something else that I forgot)? The flood?!" The flood is from Halo.
You missed the Ace Attorney reference, where when Mikan is riding a bike she said she “feels like a lawyear” and its cannon that Phoenix rides his bike to work.
Thank you! I wouldn’t have caught that one. I’m not terribly familiar with the Ace Attorney series. I’ve only seen the Game Grumps play through. But that’s a great catch! Thank you for sharing.
There is also a Fnaf reference in the episode where Five and Miko go to a children's restaurant to make sure it is glitch proof. At the scene when five hacks the restaurants security system, it totally gave me Fnaf vibes.
Count Nogrog’s name is a homage to the naming convention of Alucard, being that it’s just Dracula spelled backwards and Nogrog is Gorgon spelled backwards. (Hence the Medusa hair) Also Capcom’s old Darkstalkers series was referenced in his outfit. The cloak and coat he wears are a homage to Demitri Maximoff and the tights he wears are a direct homage to the protagonist of Darkstalkers, Morrigan Aensland.
Also in the castle stein video they go through the same game a second but time upside down, just like what they did in symphony of the night to make up for the console limitations on length.
My favorite reference in season 2 is in "Settling the Score" when Miko says, "Like Yars, I shall have revenge!" And I was like, "Wait...was that a reference to an Atari game from 40 years ago?!" YOU BET IT WAS!
6:49 Reminds me not just at any Tetris game, but a specific one called Tetris plus. In this game, you have to break down Tetris blocks to free a tiny man so he can get a treasure. If the ceiling gets to close to him he will run across the screen in a similar fashion as they do. Also, he is drawn in a close style as well.
Sanitron is actually probably a reference to Voltron, but I also see the comparison to both Power Rangers and Transformers. They're all cool looking giant robots with wild color pallets and design details.
In Episode 2, when Five and Miko are looking through Hinobi's database, Five names several old Hinobi consoles which are references to Sega's old systems, the Genesis/Mega Drive and Sega-CD.
I think the name of that Pokémon-style game Flunky Quest is a reference to that old 2013 game that was on Nickelodeon’s website for a while called Monkey Quest
In episode 7 while Five is trying to dig out the giant gem Miko says that he's gone full gollum on her. Although they spell it with an e in the captions so as not to get copyrighted.
@@JanosFabio He's honestly a hodge-podge of things! My board partner Sarah did that part, and she for sure referenced Voltron, Gurren, Power Rangers, etc. We're definitely all about giant mechs.

Not a video game reference, but in the season two episode 'Ralphie Bear is Back,' there's a musical reference to the 'Real Ghostbusters' cartoon. When Five and Miko are running from the cake stomping robot, there's a point where they run through a door, slam it in the robot's face, then push an arcade machine to block the door. Then, as they back away from the door, the music is the 'suspense' tune from the old cartoon.
I forgot the episode but there was a portal reference. BITT was on a computer talk to a robot that sounds and looks like glados. She says something like “ and I said I promised them a cake but it was actually a pie” anyways great video some references I didn’t even notice
Doom, God of War , Alien shooter, The Evil Within, F.E.A.R & Resident Evil ,these are but few of many other games I would like to see referenced in future episodes.
Aw yes! Those are such great ideas. I imagine they’ll at least do a few or all from that list. I mean they’re all such big classics I’d be surprised if they didn’t.
In the 2nd season in the episode where we learn that Fives dad is in jail, you can clearly see on the big wall of posters a animal crossing reference where there is a wolf that looks just like the animal crossing wolves!
What happened with the Polybius reference on that scene with the Quality manager checking the store? (idk if its just me who got it but is worth mentioning!)
There’s a portal reference in the show but it’s only a couple of seconds but basically BITT talks to a robot that looks very similar to Glados and she says the cake is a pie which is based off of the saying the cake is a lie.

Miko's dog is called cloud. Not too exiting by itself but if you take into account that this is about videogames and her cat was supposed to be called aerith you can see why this one is hype.
The episode Ralphie Bear is back screams Five Nights At Freddy's. An example of this is when five hacks the cameras and then Cakey Von Smasher appears out of nowhere. At some point in the episode they were also called animatronics.
The Guitar Hero Reference is actually is a reference to the original pilot where the Guitar Hero was a glitch that Five and Meko had to take out in a guitar battle!
In one of the episodes, we have a character that looks afully similar to glados from portal 2. The character even sounds like glados and even talks about cake, which is part of the franchise, yes a cake.

I don't remember what it was or when it was but i SWEAR i caught a reference to twitch (or one of its emotes?) and i was hoping to see it in this video or atleast HOPE someone in the comments reading this caught it too.....someone tell me im not crazy
Hmmm I’m not a huge twitch streamer so there a good chance I missed it, sadly, but that’s an awesome find!
I really do hope someone can dig that up for us. I’d love to see it.
At 1:16 in this video you can see the "twootch" logo we hid on the tv!
@@AsheJ719 Nice find!
@@JanosFabio I mean, I cheated. ahaha
Good show
There is one in Episode 4 when Miko jumped on the ground it played the Crash Bandicoot theme
I saw all references and it was easy to see
There is also five hoarding the big gem in the quest episode which reminds me of Gollum from LoTR
Here's a new reference! Does season 2 of episode 3, it was a full five nights at Freddy's reference.
Castlestein could also be a reference to
castle wolfenstein
Episode 1 has a punch out reference where me ko is seen hitting a character that closely resembles little mac
there's one episode where Miko says
"Let's ghost, buster"
also in the ddr refrence meko played when she moved in there was a refrence to bang bang bang a kpop somg by bigbang
I’m pretty sure Bridely and the Cake smasher robots are both references to fnaf since they are both animatronics malfunctioning, Five using seccurity camreas just ti get jumpscared by the cake smasher robot, and Meko getting jumpscared by Bridely as a kid whoch is awfully simalar to fnaf 4.
“Chomp kitty is a reference to pac-man”
At first I think it’s a not so hard version of cat mario
Now there's a fnaf reference AND ITS A FULL GOD DAM EPISODE
Who is Bolypius
Well the series of Glitch Techs is mostly about games so there's a lot of reason why there are a lot of references in the series.
I love this show so much
I didn't miss the reference to the Polybius (technecally) creepypasta
