Over the last 100 years, many great golfers have felt and used the 'gravity' swing. However, none of them have been able to communicate these feelings until you. Being a great teacher is simply about communicating the information. We know that communicating a 'feeling' using words is fiendishly difficult. I believe though David, you have achieved it splendidly. I have read all, ALL, the books, and watched so many videos. No more, now I have 'it'. Thank you. They should put up a Statue of you in front of the R&A Clubhouse in StAndrews.

PS. I'm 62, and have been trying to get a handle on the swing for 50 years! Shot my best 9 hole sore last week (37) over a very difficult and long track (Lancaster golf club UK.) and getting better every week!

This is the BEST explanation of the true mechanics of a golf SWING ever given. Makes me think of Count Yogi in many ways, except you have included easy to understand logical statements about HOW it actually happens. Thanks a million Mr. Lee!

I think what you are saying is something I heard years ago and that is that in golf there are hitters and swingers and the swingers swing is easier on the body and more repeatable

Being a retired science teacher, I have an appreciation of the physics behind the Gravity Golf Swing. It is an effortless swing when done properly!

The arms and the body has to surrender to gravity at the start of the downswing. If you try and rotate, using muscular force, it rotating mass will always out of phaze with the deadfall of the arms, thus mechanically decoupling the mass of the body with the clubhead.
This is why at the start of the downswing both the falling body and arms need to both be moving at the speed of gravity.
A great gravity player like millar barber had his right toe on the ground during the backswing in order to allow the rotating mass of his body to be unstable and fall over on the downswing.
In order to stop himself from falling over, he had to surrender to the reactive part of his brain in order to rotate, which is a lot faster than intentially trying to rotate and which mechanically decouple 75% of the rotating mass from the clubhead at impact. Simple as that

What are the best drills that can be done at home without actually hitting balls?

Great video! Thanks, and I can appreciate the concept. My question is can I use it as a single plane swinger?

Been 3 years, I'm a single plane swinger as well. Have you been able to graft the principles in?
