Hey Wasties!!! Thank you for watching! This may be my favourite event so far this year! We’re currently in Byron Bay for the night slowly heading back home to Sydney after going to Cooly Rocks Coloundra Beachfest! We are tired! Hope everyone has a nice long weekend. ❤️
Came on to say there's the RACQ 2023 motorfest in Brisbane this Sunday at the RNA showgrounds. Celebrating the evolution of motor vehicles. From vintage to now and future. But looks like you're back in Sydney by now, so maybe next year! 😆
When I was a kid a friend of my dads had a Manx buggy in metal flake pink. It was wonderful. I got caught in that bloody tunnel as well. I was on my old Vespa and I could feel my mental capacity draining from the Monoxide fumes. You went past the Hopetoun pub and Johnnies fish cafe. Sydney was greatly diminished by their closing.
Cool vid. Everyone loves a Vee Dub. Yes, we used to build/assemble them here back when we used to build stuff ourselves. Beetles, Type 3, Country Buggy, Kombi and first couple of years of Passat (to replace Type3) and Golf (to replace Beetle). Even a year or two of Audi Fox (a ‘lux’ sedan version of the first Passat really)
Man that brought back some memories. Travelled around the country in a converted "low light" micro bus with my girlfriend (soon to be wife) and first daughter. We upgraded her from 1600 single port single carb to 1800 dual port twin webbers and scat extractors. Big difference but she still didn't like steep hills. Anyway sold the kombi for our deposit on our first home. Good idea at the time but man I miss that kombi.
Ah, the Volkswagen Caravelle. North America got the T4 Eurovan, but the Caravelle seen in this video is a T6. There is a special camper variant known as the VW T6 California. Fun Fact: LDV was originally British, but was bought by the SAIC (Shanghai Auto Industry Corporation). This LDV T60 is also known as the Maxus T60 in the UK (although why didn't they use LDV instead?), Europe and Asia, but brought back the LDV name for Australia and New Zealand.
A few years ago l went to the VW show at the Fairfield Trottin track tge same place were this VW show was held and Australia they are called Kombis instead of buses
Thanks for video, I learned a lot about VW! I'd hate to think what the most influentual car of the 21st century will be... So far maybe Tesla and that's over priced boringness to me lol Side note: VW did produce cars in Australia in Melbourne for a time till the early 80's (I think) and the plant was taken over by Nissan (I think 2 years). I can't find any information but I'd say they didn't sell cars in Australia till the early 2000's like nearly all European manufactures that left in slowly throughout the 80's and then came back to sell again...
@@WastelandFirebird Ah makes sense Mk4 R32 is about as far back as my knowledge goes aha. Love your videos! Purple VW's are very epic, idk if they came purple from factory but I've definitely seen Purple Sciroccos around Australia.
Here’s an idea for a future post for ya Firebird. In a number of posts you mention your father and some of his and cars of your youth and today. How about doing something with your father on his cars. And maybe one day get him out to Australia to experience here for himself. Would it be Two Americans FREAKS OUT?????
3:32 That 4x4 does look very good and does compare well and much more appealing then the Mahindra and good value... But Quick google tells me the medium wage in China in USD is 3000, BUT things are not great in China... An analysis of the data for 2019 by a team from Beijing Normal University showed that in 2019, 43 percent of the population (600 million) had an income of less than 1,090 yuan per month, 69 percent had an income under 2,000 yuan, 84 percent less than 3,000 yuan per month and 95 percent earned less than 5,000 yuan. Only the top 0.6 percent earned more than 10,000 yuan a month. China had close to 400 billionaires in 2019, according to Forbes, with tech entrepreneur Jack Ma heading the list with a net worth of U.S. $38.2 billion. Compared to Australia there are 2.75 Millions who have income of below minimum wage...
