I don't even need to watch the whole video to know you mean business. I see the beer bottle next to the jack. All true work begins correctly - and that means beer. Well done!
The mountune is by far the best aftermarket bypass option. I’ve screwed around with the turbosmart now twice but can’t stand the venting while hill climbing or highway mid throttle pulls. Every time it vents that small bit, you can see boost pressure dip and it kills power. I threw my mountune back on today after watching this. Takes the cake
Think I'm going to purchase one of these. Put a dump valve on the car, and bottom end power is shit now. Makes more noise, than actually getting the boot down. Preloaded a tougher spring in it also, and still seems like is not boosting as quick as what it did standard. Any idea's
I recently purchased a used 2016 ST. Original owner installed a BOV and I am looking to replace it for the same reasons. If I purchase the Mountune Recirc Valve will it come with the hose or do I need to buy that separate?
padi mac I think you hooked it up wrong , did you remove the plate under the old recirc valve ? You need to remove the metal plate underneath the old valve and put your new BOV in the hole , I made this mistake the 1st time and I knew right away that there was a leak
Bro!!!! That valve works better than the stock! I have one installed on my 2015 ST. Just a gently reminder to take apart the valve and lube the O-Rings from the piston every 2-3 months otherwise the valve wont open correctly and your turbo will start fluttering This happened to me.
Wow........ that is NOT a project I'd want to undertake every 3 months. Doesn't seem worth it to me. Wonder if a blow-off valve would have the same issue.
David Schneider i havend had a chance to install a BOV on my st but after using the mountune bpv for 3 months i started having serious fluttering, i lube it and it works like a charm now
DeFreshS10 yes, i had to lube the O-rings from the piston of the BPV. After 3 months of use the valve started getting stiff and i started having a lot of turbo flutter. I contacted mountune and they sent me O-ring lube.
I did the install on my RS today but from underneath the car, because instructions advised to remove the undertray to gain access. Also only said 2-3 nm to tighten so maybe it's been updated. Super easy overall
yup. I had to take a break half way though. I just couldn't get the screws back in and lined up with that stupid bracket. What I ended up doing was using small zip ties! I zip tied 2 of the 3 holes so everything was lined up. Then I put in top screw finger tight. After that I cut one of the other zip ties out and the screw was perfectly lined up. For the last one though I couldn't get it cut off ...so I used a 10" barbecue lighter and heated the zip tie up enough where I could pull it off with some needle nose. In hindsight, I wish I had thought of that trick much earlier in the day. Maybe it will help someone doing it in the future who reads this :/
Gjeebs, just FYI, N-m stands for newton-meters. Sorry engineer at work. To be honest in pronouncing torque, I always said ft-lbs. It is actually lbs-ft. Still hard to get used to.
@@Gjeebs I just purchased a 2013 Focus ST. I currently have a 2012 Dodge Charger SRT 8 and a C7 Z06. I bought this car to be a daily driver and I think I am going to follow your mods with the exception of an intercooler. I live in NC like the other guy and will be taking it to the track. I did get the Pro CAL as you did based on your recommendation. I find your videos helpful. Thx for the hard work. I am going to start doing reviews on this car for my channel that I started a while back. Car Porn Junkie is my channel.
derek miller intercooler helps soooo much. Stock intercooler is trash then again I’m in Florida’s 90 degree average weather but now rarely 10 degrees over outside temps at full throttle and I’m generally lower than outside temps when cruising
Bypass valve recirculates the released air pressure through a hose back into your intake. Blow off valve just takes that pressured air and dumps it into the atmosphere (which is why its way louder). The ST as well as many other turbo cars account for that small amount of air coming back into the intake with the stock recirc, so when you dump it into the air without recirculating it your car "could" run a bit lean. The reason I put that in quotes is because its highly unlikely it will have a negative effect. People use a BOV for the noise, but other than that theres no added benefit over a bypass valve.
NO Screws ... your removing bolts and re-install. LOL you boys make me laugh, should have walked across the street and asked if Connie if she needed gapping ....Just sayin
Hey with all your upgrades, have you ever considered a RS intake, you already have a mountune filter and mountune intake hose I have a similar set up and now I can actually hear real intake noise.I went with this setup to keep it close to stock, works perfect.

Just had a few beers n I'm about to go put in my mountune recirculation valve. Already stage 3. Just figured I'd do this cause I should? Lol

Yea I agree. It does virtually nothing for sound but it holds boost pressure better than stock and anything else I have seen

New sub!! Thanks for the uploads!! Just bought a 17 ST1 and I love it!! Been watching all your posts for mod info!!
+Jamie Hamm thanks for the sub!!! More mods to come and I have tons of old footage on my ST that you will enjoy

lube what now? You aren't lubing the piston rings.... are you?

so every 3 months you have to take the BPV off and re lube it? that seems a little excessive....
I just installed the turbosmart blow off valve on my st and I love it
Ford Focus St Freak me too
It's a strap (spark plug) and a feeler Gauge 😀 Also place a dab of blue loctite on the BPV bolts. 🤘🏻
I did the install on my RS today but from underneath the car, because instructions advised to remove the undertray to gain access. Also only said 2-3 nm to tighten so maybe it's been updated. Super easy overall
Oh hey good timing on the video haha yesterday I spent three hours getting my turbosmart blowoff valve put on.... God that was a headache
same! having a wobble, and 3 different lengths of 3/8 extensions helps a ton
Focus RR it was still all kinds of frustrating haha

Focus RR damnit why didn't I think about that
Just helped me!! Ordering blowoff valve next week!!Kinda new to all this so haven't decided which one any input would be appreciated Thanks
You should have got the Turbosmart BOV every enthusiast loves the sounds a turbo makes.

Always open to feedback like this. Thank you!

Do you have to do any maintenance on that recirculation valve? Lke take it out every so often and lube it?
Is that a half inch torque wrench?
What is the difference between that part and a blow-off valve do they do the same thing??
What's the torque setting on the plugs please?
Hello you a use the gap 0.28mm or inches ? there are a lot of movies where they set 0.31 inches :-/
Just watched you flip the Mountune motor mount and now this, the M logo on the BPV is supposed to be oriented at 4 o`clock.
what's the difference, if any between this and a blow off valve?
Brad Keil Lol a BOV has the PUUSHHH NOISE
1gsrtom hahaha i know, i meant in a mechanical sense

does it matter where the M is? like top or bottom?
the gap tool was a feeler guage
Is there a chip missing on your brake rotor?
After careful, replays, the color of my monitor just blended the dust shield and the rotor reaalllyyyy well.
hahahah good to know. I was gonna check tonight then I saw this
whats the size of the bolts to secure the bpv on the housing
NO Screws ... your removing bolts and re-install. LOL you boys make me laugh, should have walked across the street and asked if Connie if she needed gapping ....Just sayin
guessing it was newton meters
Mountune plugs come gapped at .028” for the ST
Yep

I am considering it but it’s not at the top of my list right now
can you post a picture?
can i buy parrts from montune and install my self and stay under warranty?
No. It has to be done by someone who is certified so they know it was installed correctly
No, you will void warranty. Unless you have the Ford Dealership to install the parts which are covered under Fords limited warranty. From Mountune.
Poor Connie lol 😂
They come pre gaped.
Not nano meters.. its newton meters. Just like its a Furd, not a Ford. I'm kidding but i'm looking at buying one. The car i mean.
Why not just do a blow off valve?😂
Not built as well as this piece.
I feel the pain this was a bitch to install. Went with turbosmart 50/50 tho
