I've always wanted to hear him play Schubert, and now at last, sadly. This is simply exquisite and beautiful, as I would expect from him. It's beyond words. I am in tears.
I've never commented on youtube before but now must thank Ahasver2009. What a discovery! In a radio interview Ivan Moravec once indicated he'd record Schubert; alas, this never came to pass. Here we have only one movement--the Andante sostenuto from the B flat--but perfection with the great Moravec's exquisite, unrushed rendition, like a seance. Thank you again, Ahasver2009.
I agree. After a lifetime of listening to piano music and players I think this movement would be my desert island recording. To have the complete sonata would indeed be wonderful.
Oh!!! Many thanks for this beautiful discovery. I never heard Ivan Moravec playing Schubert. What a treasure for my heart crying...

A beautiful tribute to the artist, both with the recording and the photograph. Many thanks...
OMG this is ravishingly beautiful!
One of the greats! An impeccable artist! RIP...

I have the whole sonata recorded in decent sound from Jan. 7, 1993
@@dcarladler1 - Is it possible for you to upload it to RUclips? What a great gift that would be.
