In therapy, I once use the affirmation "I am whole and complete" to obtain total peace and I felt WONDERFUL for about two hours! I didn't notice that I had temporarily lost the troubled "me" and I was both surprised and disappointed when the troubled "me" returned and pulled me right back down into misery and self contempt. Somehow that affirmation has never worked again!!! Thanks for the comment: "You can't FOOL that sense of unfulfillment".

This meeting has answered most of my questions re: therapy vs. Nonduality. The "person" is the problem and this person doesn't need to be fixed or made happy - it needs to no longer be taken seriously or disappear! I could not have gone for this Nondual message when I first entered therapy 'cos I was completely filled with rage & sorrow from a bad childhood & just had to VENT the ocean of bottled up, angry feelings I had somehow stuffed away inside of my self for many years. This message is completing my therapy which focused on the unhappy 'me' and kept "separation" alive.

in therapy, I tried "Self Talk" (repeating positive affirmations over and over and over), and it works - FOR A LITTLE WHILE! I studied "happiness is a choice" which also worked for a little while but my troubled and unhappy "me" or ego just kept reappearing to make trouble. I worked on Self Esteem with the same short lived experience. It never occurred to me that the "me" was and still is the issue or that there is NO ONE here or anywhere else. Therapy tried to help me be a "better person" but I needed to stop being a person!!! Thanks for explaining about Self Talk and why it doesn't work.
I will always cherish the things I learned and found in psychotherapy but, so long as it was all meant to make the "me" feel and do "better", I can see that it could not actually set me free for very long. I'm so glad I found Andreas, Tony P. and all the other No Thing "wizards",

If someone asks you they're suffering, you can't simply say "you don't exist", "there is no one suffering". I bet you all suffer in one form or another because being told "you don't exist" is not awakening. Maybe it's a 1 minute relief from the harshness of life. A genuine teaching will tell you " if you feel that you suffer, to all effects and purposes you are identifying with your body-mind". That's not an easy thing to accept, I know, but spirituality has to be truthful and sincere.
Hello ZENderista, yes, there is no answer to suffering. There's also no problem with suffering. And yes, probably some teachers want to end suffering by saying "there is no one". However, this communciation is NOT a teaching. It does not recognize anyone who can either hear that there is no one or could be identified/not identified. This is not spirituality!
@@thetimelesswonder7437 That's sincere of you to say this is not spirituality. But yes, there is indeed an answer to suffering, and that's self-realization. When this occurs, there will be no world, no people and no suffering. The dream is over. So long as you perceive a world, people in it who suffer and who have a world-based happiness, you are still trapped. To whom are you saying there is no one if the others are yourself? Why the need to say anything if everything is what is anyway and no amount of what you do can change a thing?
@@ZENderista Yes, exactly, there is no answer to suffering as there is no suffering in the first place (as there is no real world for suffering to happen in). 'There is no one' means that there is nothing which is aware - either about itself or about a world. In that sense, the whole setup of perception is illusory (as you apparently stated, too). In that sense, there also is no self-realization. Which self would/could be addtionally realized?! As I said: This message is not a teaching. Who would need to be taught anything?! Who would need to be convinced that there is no one?! There is no one in the first place.This apparent communication does not happen out of a need to change anything - it is whole-ly itself for no reason (just as everything else is (and is not)).
