One thing about Jim Watt he had a good chin 🤜. That punch Arguello nailed him with put many people away.
Watt lost his tittle to a all time Latin legend here but he went out like a champion did Watt and stayed the full 15 rounds 🥊.

Watt was definitely very sturdy and durable, in the chin, jaw, and skull department. He Did get cut up quite easily though. Although he was periodically nailed pretty good by Arguello, Watt also made him miss quite a bit, with Arguello's various punches, especially the booming right hand/money punch that Arguello possesed. Alot of missing and grazing punches from Arguello. Watt took the flush landing punches like an iron jawed warrior. He gave a game and valiant effort but I think it was simply a matter of a Strong Tough guy fighting a Stronger Tougher opponent, who also punched with nearly twice the force.

Alexis had done hundreds of rounds on hand pads which were a new and novel thing back in the late 1970s….the pads had got him razor sharp and ready without any pain and the sparring Arguello did was just to get him in the mood …..Arguello was a great but Aeron Pryor beat him and he was only smallish at light welter but seem to think he may of had some chemical help ….might of remembered that bit wrongly …

His commentating at times is questionable - Benn v McClellan comments at the end dissing McClellan when the guy was having a major brain bleed, and also dismissing Pacquiao after the first Morales fight saying 'we've seen his best' referring to his win in the Barrera fight, as though it was a fluke and that was as far as Manny would go. Manny reached heights well above that after his first loss to Morales.

@@marknorris1381 Another donut.Watt made a accurate comment about MClellan.MClellan did quit and he wasnt "dissing"him. But it wasnt known what happened afterwards.Jim Watt like everyone else didnt know what was to happen to MClellan.Jim Watt and Reg Gutteridge were always the choice boxing commentators on ITV and they were both good for that reason including Watt when he worked for sky.If you want to know rubbish commentary you should watch some of HBO boxing.
