A little bit of both but I’d say it depends on how far in the upgraded village you are. Survival is more when you are going out on a “expedition” to the caves to farm materials that cannot be found somewhere else. When you are in your village is more about the Sandbox. It’s more easier with friends that are willing to help you advance. Alone sucks.
