Oh my goodness, that was a real treat to see! I could almost smell the popcorn and taste the cotton candy I had to beg my Mom to buy, since she seldom let us have sugar. I celebrated all of my teenage years at the City Fair until they stopped having it. What a sad day that was. Smh I miss those days, the 70's were everything! Lol That was really nice to see. Thanks for posting..
Curly Bush...I agree! Seemed so innocent back then. So many families - white and black. All getting along in the name of fun and in the name of that once great city.
Back when Baltimore city had almost 1 million people. As of today December 17 2019 the city has a little over 600,000 people. I was 3 yrs old back in 1973 but I do remember the City Fair throughout the 1970s..
I'm sure my family and I were there as we went all 3 days....I even have a picture "75" at the baltimore city fair....before there was an inner harbor there was the city fair.....GREAT memory.
Last time I went was 1977 or 78 I think. We sat on the roof of the Morris Mechanic Theatre and smoked a bowl of flakes (pcp soaked greens) first. I don’t remember the fair just the lights, some neon lights and more lights. Federal Hill has a great view of dwtn.
that's pretty much how i remember it. my folks met working in the Maryland National building (mini empire state building, so to speak). water skiing in the harbor in 1973 must have been in a no fall zone, for sure.
Ay hon! I tink I jus saw Ronny and Butchy in da back round...wunnen dat da day dat we went to Boh Brooks on Blair rd and got dose JumbOs? We saw Charlie Eckman and Jerry Turner sittin at da bar day day
This was a perfect day for a family. Nowadays you don't see this you half to dodge bullets or be afraid of a deadly virus in crowds or someone tryna kidnap you or your child or jack your car when u go home what a sad society we have become
Lee B. ~ It is not a total rat hole. I live there and I know how it is. I reside in a nice neighborhood. The city gets a negative rap based on certain sections, and of course the bad news is all that's heard about in the media.

Because of the " crime"?

I totally agree with the comment 😊 it was a different time of life back then people were civil and much nicer to one another
I was there back in 1973!
Memories, seems like people had more respect for one another when we came together to have a good time.
Wow so different now

Can’t blame for leaving the city
Jeez. The harbor water actually looked clean.
Great footage!! Thanks so much for sharing, so many great memories here ❤️❤️
Wow what a Gem!
The wonderful, beautiful city of Balmer.
Sad, no more....

Remember the shot tower?
I was here working a booth with my Mom!

Also remember the May Day Fair ( May 1st) in Mount Vernon Washington monument.
There's some good memories never see that again
Don't think I ever went when it moved from Fayette Street and loved it. Just remember AFRAM festival at Rash field.

Whatever happened to blimps? Used to see blimps all the time, especially during special events. But not anymore.😢
We lost our soul when we lost our manufacturing base. MAGA.
The fifties ain't coming back. Will you settle for civil unrest of the sixties? Riding with Biden!
THANK YOU glad to hear someone speak on it because Clinton and the bushes sold America out too China

When people looked normal
DOA...It’s “you’re” pitiful. If you are going to insult, please have the decency to do it correctly.
Steve Janowiak thanks Mr. Steve!
It’s a good thing that young couple wasn’t into smoking grass.
Sad of what the city has become. Shameful.
It’s sad what B’more has turned into. A total rathole. It was once a nice city.

@@paulpaulh9278 it’s a complete shit hole now
The people are great. But without jobs & a decent tax base, the city has gotten a raw deal.
