Actually, there were plans in the late '70s/early '80s for a film with her playing Velma and Goldie Hawn as Roxie, but like many projects in development, it never panned out.
@@colaboinc.7524 Hmmm, we're gonna have to agree to disagree re: A Chorus Line. An absolute train wreck if you ask me. But hey, isn't it great it's 2021 and we're talking about A Chorus Line?!?
I was there! I saw Liza in Chicago in 1975. They announced at the beginning of the show that Gwen Verdon was indisposed .....and her role would be taken by......Liza Minnelli!
I saw them both. They were both great in different ways. I felt sorry for Chita Rivera because in the opening number a silhouetted figure comes to the footlights for All That Jazz and the audience went berserk....assuming it was Liza and the applause just died abruptly when it was Rivera Minnelli is not in their league as a dancer, especially with so little rehearsal.
It's Supposed ! To Be An OVER THE TOP !COMEDIC TORCH SONG ! PARODY !!!and on purpose!!👍 OVERDRAMATIC! She Was actually ! Drinking ! From a Flask !.. and Dropping It All Over The Upright Piano ! Player !!! Towards ! The End ! 😂😅! YOU !..😴😴 are Missing ! The VISUAL ! Comedy !!!!!!
renee was good, but liza was amazing, roxie is older than most people realise she is about 35-40 also liza’s jazz toned voice is perfect for the show but some people are uneducated
Renee was just straight up bland. It wasn’t bad, just meh. She’s a good actor though but not a triple threat like some people on other videos we’re saying.
THANK GOD they knew to give Liza a second cake walk at the end of the song.
WHAT a TRAGEDY ! That LIZA'S Performance ! Was Not Captured !. On Film !!!!😥😥😥
I so wish the film had been made in this era so Liza could give the definitive version

I am kinda glad they didn't as they screwed up so many movie musicals back then. Annie, A Chorus Line just to name a few.
@@jeffreygerman5059 i think fosse would have done it tho so i think it would have been pretty good
@@jeffreygerman5059 Annie is good and the dancing in A Chorus Line the movie, was more creative than the Broadway version.

This is actually my favorite version of the song.
Mine too!
She’s so good!
Anything by Liza Minnelli is my favourite version
She was perfect for this role.
The Broadway musical apple doesn’t fall far from
the Broadway musical tree. I’m sure that Liza continues to make her mama Judy proud!
Judy never did a musical on the Broadway stage
And ????
Wow,Liza sounds like her mother. I love her!
I bet gwen verdon is an amazing roxie but Liza is perfect for the part, listen to that audience reaction, they love her
The audience reaction to Gwen was incredible from the audio bootlegs.
Im so sad no one video taped Liza performing this show!!!!
@@bl6797 ITS TRAGIC !!!!!!!😳

Liza uma das melhores artistas vivas.bravo tudo que fez pela arte eternos aplausos.
Thank you for the post
Is there more from this ??? In love!!
Súper e inefable Liza
I never knew that Ethel Merman sang Roxie...
In fact, she came in on a week’s notice and kept the show open when Verdon was ill. Otherwise, we likely would have hardly heard of it “nowadays.”
Ha! I love you!
What!!!💪 a COMPLEMENT 💪🎉🎉
Amazing version* THANKS A LOT! UTUBE SMILE BY JOHN BAVAS
I would like to have seen the originals do it. Gwen Vernon had a quality few can convey. Liza is too mannered.

Gwen verdin had a vulnerability on stage. Minnelli is Minnelli. Lots love her. I wasn’t one of them.
Hey !... everyone ! Is entitled !.... To !..👍. To Their opinion !!
Obviously !!!!! 🙄It Kept Her ! .... From Making ! Any Kind Of Career !!!!
Renee Zellweger's was far better. Liza here sounds like a middleaged opera singer ranting mother-in-law.

You need to get your hearing checked. Renee was good but her vocals could never be on the same level as Liza.
Please !!! Like Comparing ! A Wine cooler !.😴😴😴. Renee.. With !.. a GOOD VINTAGE WINE !!!! LIZA 🔥🔥🔥
