    Thank you so much for this absolutely brilliant and comprehensive way of fitting that essential piece of kit. I thought I needed a new tv, the reception had become so bad. I brought down a Roku Stick (no aerial) tv from upstairs, to see if the aerial would work on it -and attached the proper aerial. No success. No success so it`s fair to assume its the aerial that`s the problem, but I am not a tv engineer, so asked for remote assistance from Samsung. She took the tv over but then confirmed "You have no signal, - it is the aerial."; I have taken the coaxial cable off and shaved off bits until they were absolutely as some programme instructors described - maybe 60 times and this is no exaggeration, over the past 3 days and I eventually did get a picture - 36 hours into the job - but it was so broken down - it was impossible - so I went on RUclips again and read this instruction. I stopped the video whilst I was putting the instructions into practice, - and eventually when I had followed it to the absolute finish - plugged the newly re-wired coaxialinto the aerial socket at the back of the tv AGAIN - Turned on the tv - with not much hope I admit, but Whoopee - I now have a tv that works; No pixellation - No breaking up and voices too. is this the 21st century. On some other instructions it suggests that the flimsy cable that surrounds the white outer sheath, is superfluous, so I chopped it off. I poked the inner copper stiff cable into the outer thing that goes into the tv - THAT didn`t work either - SO the suggestion to bend the copper cable into the outer sheath so that it is bound to come into contact with the sheath, solved that problem, - but all these things put together achieved this minor miracle, for a 77 year old lady determined not to be beaten by a piece of technology. Excuse the length of this story. It is NOTHING compared to how long its taken to get it to work.

    Thanks for tips .but I guessed you’ve been told that music was a mistake 😣 My cable has to attach by an as yet unfitted plug that screws onto the tv. I’ll need to seek one out tomorrow in Screwfix. I think it’s a F or inf(? ) make connector. I’ll use your experienced hints when fixing it on.

    There are a few things l dont really understand, like when you put that grip thing on and catch some of the braiding in it. And where to cut etc, but I'm gona try it. Wish me luck as it's never plain sailing with these sort of things lol. 😄 Thanks for doing this wee video. 👍

    Thank you so much for this explanation. l had țhis exact connector on my old cable and thought it may not fit my quad shield RG6 cable. lt does. Although l have installed this connector before the way you did it was better. Subscribed.
    lncidentally is there any harm in leaving the foil in place?
    The connector l have is many years old. This connector is called an IEC coaxial connector. Thanks again.

      Hi, thanks for your comment. It wouldn't affect the signal leaving the foil in. It would be difficult to do, as it would get in the way.

      @@WadesRamsey When doing the connection at the antenna end it is recommended to leave the last of the 2 foils in place for Rg6 quad shield cable.
      Just a touch more shielding and it won't interfere with anything. No point removing it.
      At the tv end as you say, leaving the foil would make the process more difficult. The centre piece would also provide additional insulation so the foil would not be necessary.
      l know l am splitting hairs here but l like to do things as best l can. 🙂
      The tips you gave in this video were excellent!!

      The thread means it's for satellite. The plug I'm using is for freeview, which is an TV aerial

    Hi. What does the breading do? I’d it even necessary?

    • @lukegammons
      @lukegammons 3 года назад +1

      Hi, yes it's very important. A lot of people cut it off. It will work like this, but to get the best connection always keeps and use the Brading to make the perfect connection.
      If you ever needed to use a mast head amplifier and power supply, if you didn't have the Brading there, it wouldn't have enough power to make the mast head work.
