Thank you so much for being so detailed. You covered each step and made it so much easier for me. God Bless You.
. I am a 74 year old senior lady and I love DIY. The last three contractors I hired during the pandemic cheated me out of half of my savings and did not even finish the job. I decided I would hire myself. I have watched hundreds of DIY on RUclips. It may not look like a professional as I am still learning.

Great video! You were funny and honest. I have to do the same trimming to put in a wall that will cover a stove pipe that we had installed very close to the counter top. It took a long time but your wife was really happy!!

Just tried your method. The first half was perfect, but I hurried the second half and got minor chipping which I can mostly file off. I got the side laminate trim off in one piece and was able to use an iron to put it back on. The Bosch laminate jigsaw blades worked very nicely. The teeth don't curve up or down, just straight out. Used a hacksaw where the jigsaw wouldn't reach. Thanks so much for this video, it probably saved me time, damage and cursing.

I'm glad I was able to help someone else and that it worked out for you. Interesting that you ironed on the laminate edge. Thanks for sharing that tip!

Gonna have to do the same thing for the same kind of giant whirlpool fridge!

Awesome job. Thanks for the ideas as I’m about to do the same things today. Hoping for a wife approved result as well.

Didn’t you have a router with flush cut bit. It would have been much quicker and nicer finish I believe.

Great video. I have the same problem and have not figured out to fix it. With this info I think I'm good to go.

You need to have an extension cord and pull cord at the back of the fridge or you’ll have a very hard time plugging or unplugging the fridge, or removing the fridge for inevitable service.

Exactly the same issue I have. Why they added a lip to the side of the counter where the fridge goes makes no sense.

You might want to seal the end of your countertop. If moisture ever gets in there the countertop will swell up and be ruined.

All the fridge manuals I’ve read while shopping for a new one say you need much more room for ventilation than what you have done.

Good thing this video had nothing to do with what you mentioned. It was a tutorial on cutting laminate without it chipping. All the access panels and "ventilation" you mention are in the back. All he had to do is keep his fridge out from the wall. You're an idiot. Since to do what you're implying, ripping out cabinets, having a new one custom made, then color matched and installed would cost 2-3 ×'s more than the new fridge.

At the back or sides or top? Mine seems to say it needs 1/2" at the top and behind (some at sides for doors to open that's it so I'm imaging it doesn't require any at sides FWIW?) Peace!

Why not replace the laminate on the edge?

Thanks for the video. The sacrifice had to be done because the wife’s women cave is her kitchen. I’m going to Lowes today and pick up some good jig saw blades and use your technique.

Lot of work, tight fit:). Good luck pulling that puppy back out of there one day:). I have the same situation with a slide in range only the backsplash will be involved:). Aye ye ye!
I do know how dense that darn counter wood is too.

How'd you do it? Any luck? :)

I placed painters tape along where the cut would be marked my line on top of that. I made most of the cut from the front of the counter going towards the back with a saber saw using a Diablo brand fine tooth blade. Finer the blade, the smoother the cut. let the tools do the work without forcing it. My counter backsplash is all one piece, so the way I cut that was I changed over to a Japanese pull saw using the finer tooth side of the saw blade, took my time and cut the rest of it along through the curves of the backsplash. At times it was awkward, but you’ll get it done. Before I cut it I used heat to remove the strip of finish along the edge. After I cut it gently sanded it just a little with 600 grit removed loose dust then used 100% clear silicone adhesive and put that finished end strip it back along the newly cut edge. Actually turned out really well!

I am pretty sure you can still buy handbook with all details you need on woodprix.
