Thanks Scott the Radio really looks in the 60 Fury 👍
Old Flying Shoe🇺🇸
1:10 I agree with this statement about nothing I want to hear on the radio anymore. You can also add network television, cable television, or any other "joke agenda" items.
Finding that old picture has to be one of the coolest things about that Fury.
My blood runs cold, my memory has just been sold...Fury is the centerfold! The finishing pieces really bring the car into show class status now. Hats off to the people sending in the rare and unique pieces to tie it all together. Still the most amazing build on RUclips. I love all the revives and shootouts, but this splice just took on a whole other form and it shows. Something to be proud of.
There is only one other build on RUclips that is of the same caliber as the Fury build, and that is a video done by RUclipsr Cortina City with his restoration of "Bramble".
Yes, I remember how it was at first referred to as a "daily driver" build...then, as it got farther along, and it began to really take shape an it became obvious that this was really going to be a nice car, the "daily driver" moniker was quietly dropped from the title...
The hell's wrong with me that I found watching you clean up an old speaker so satisfying?
Looking forward to even more excitement on Sat!
We're all sad bastards. Sure, that Ferrari's made several appearances over a couple years, but oh, that sweet Traction Avant...
An interesting thing about radios from that era is they had little triangle markings on the dial at 640 and 1240 KhZ. It was part of the CONELRAD system, where in the event of an atomic attack you would turn the radio to one of those frequencies to await instructions (assuming you hadn't already been vaporized. 😵) There's more information at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONELRAD
I remember in grade school doing under your desk drills during the Cuban/ Bay of Pigs ordeal.
@@Hanzyscure I grew up a couple miles from the iron curtain, on the "American" side of Germany, we had our share of GIs making trouble in bars and clubs and CIA officers ruining our market for rented houses good. We never had any drills because everybody knew once they turned the cold war in a hot one we were the first ones to be wiped off the globe's surface. Pretty strange but happy life. When things got _really_ tense in the world the girls became loose and willing because it didn't matter anyway and they didn't want to have missed out in the end, just in case .....
There used to be an extensive Conelrad site devoted to cold war kitsch, but the registration of the url appears to have expired.
Makes sense to install the radio ; looks great, and it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work. I share your thoughts about contemporary AM radio programming. Other than following favorite sports radio broadcast, here in the states the rest is almost exclusively “noise.” The old photo is just awesome!
Most people wouldn't get vaporized in a nuclear strike. Just severely burned. Or maybe blasted by glass if you're driving
It is amazing what people can replicate with 3D printers . May be someone could make a part for you , the rear door handles .
Are the 1960 armrests pot metal that's flash chromed or plastic? What Jay Leno did to replicate a missing Duesenburg SJ cylinder head a decade or so ago (3 D scan and print a sacrificial investment wax casting plug) is probably relatively trivial now or soon. Like CAD/CAM from your smartphone (or a viewer's snapshots of an intact arm rest)
3d scan it and a new one can be printed. Just mirror the 3d model to make the other side.
I'd love to know the process of "aluminizing" (chrome plating) plastic and whether it's feasible to DIY.
That's a decent idea!
Scott , You have had your hands all over the 60 Fury like a Prom Date . But we your viewers appreciate the Car so much . It was time shared with you and the Agents . And Franker's. Classic Tires & Darts always made me smile .
Chilling and thrilling feeling when something surfaces like that. You saved that car via hardcore resto. Super splice. That picture surfaced and the circle of restoration is complete. Its why we do it the story and feelings we get.
As long as that radio don't start playing "Skinny Mini" and the seat starts moving towards the dash. Then your in trouble scruffy Arnie. Great show.
Great story Scott! Make a copy and mount it somewhere on the dash!
That old photo of the Fury is an amazing find! That armrest base could be repaired using some basic modeling skills and materials: Evergreen styrene sheet, super glue, wet sandpaper and there are several convincing air-brushable “chrome” paints out there now. Fun installment - see you Saturday!
That radio does look right at home in that Fury. Great job getting it to fit right with your Dremel.
Scott dismantles the radio like a soldier would a rifle .
Whoaa great result on the photo, such a treat when that happens, it really adds something special to a car's history file. Good to see the Cit under cover!
I could and would have watched an hour of this installation.....I cannot get enough of this Plymouth.............
One of the two most anticipated nights of TV in the week. I always look forward to your videos. Wonderful!!
That old photo of your Fury is so cool!
Also, I've watched a lot of speaker cleaning videos on RUclips, but this is the best one I’ve ever seen.
Did any of video's involve fire in the cleaning process?😆
I second the thanks to all the folks who sent Scott stuff that's germaine to the effort - especially for
*The* *Centerfold* That pic from 1967 is just incredible, too!
I can certainly identify with the radio thing in the car, too - I went to great pains to get a working example
in Fred the GTX as well, even though there literally is no time I'll listen to the thing while enjoying the car.
It's just cool to know it's there and it's functional.
Yes, the high-falootin' $$$ calendar has been ordered (of course!)....
- Ed on the Ridge
Amazing the power of RUclips. Connecting Car Guys with radios, speakers and pictures. The countless hours of hard work is appreciated by many Sofa Surfers like me.
Scott, great little presentation for the Fury. Radio looks great and just amazing about that photo. Love the history.
No swearing, no swearing!
Good ole Tom.
Saturday awaits. Cheers from Wisconsin
I feel really lucky where I live to be able to listen to three oldies stations on my '68 Fury VIP's original radio. Ironically, one of them is the same station I listened to in college in the early to mid 1980's when I was driving my '67 Sport Fury. Their playlist hasn't changed, it's still 60's-80's.
That picture is quite an addition to the Fury. I wish I had pictures of all the cars that I’ve owned over the past 50 years, but regrettably they were lost along the way. Fond memories are all the I have left. 👍💯
I've asked myself, "what hasn't CWM taught me over the years about cars?" You guys seem to cover just about every gram of these oldies and it's a gem to get to get to see these processes and project updates and lessons. Cheers.
No “radio delete” for the Centerfold. Very appropriate finishing touch for a stellar machine. Liked how the glass dial face had ‘Plymouth’ on it; a classy detail. Once again, thanks to Tom for refreshing my obscenity references which come in handy!
I remember around 1974-77 when FM Rock and inexpensive car stereos kits went mainstream. Seemingly hundreds of small installation shops appeared overnight. Every car driven by the "younger set" replaced their parents' cars' radios (because we had actually good non-computerized stereo music to listen to). For decades after that garages everywhere had the original radios sitting on shelves. This summer I was clearing out my parent's house and found three radios. Sorry, no Chrysler Corp ones. Threw them out anyway...
So funny hearing Tom wander in while the radio was being cleaned.
Never tried it, but there are tales of spraying hair lacquer on old speaker cones to freshen them up and restore a bit of original stiffness to the paper. The radio looks perfect in the dash. Amazing to see the Fury in the 1967 photo.
Can't wait to see you try out the old camera, I hope the film is good.
Nice to see the Plymouth getting some more loving. And that old picture is fantastic! Nothing like finding a vintage picture of your own car!
That car is lucky to still be alive and rejuvenated.
I think the issue with the Fury isn't so much that you have too many radios to put in the car, it's that you have too few '60 Mopars for the radios you have 😉
The period pic of the Fury is an awesome find...I guess Facebook was good for at least one thing, lol!
That picture of the Fury is too cool.
It’s so neat to see them in their original state of use.
Love listening to that old guy swear. Its like a warm fire on a cold day.
Long Live Tom.
It's always a hoot when Tom turns up 😅
The photo was amazing! My son inherited my mom-in-law's 1965 Ford Mustang 2 + 2. While watching Derick on Vice Grip Garage he had dropped off a car he was driving across the country that developed transmission problems and was making a video at the transmission shop and stopped to look at another car in the transmission shop, which was my son's Mustang. It was very strange to see my son's Mustang in the Vice Grip Garage video.
What an awesome find with that photo!
My first electric guitar was a 1965 Gibson Melody Maker. As it goes, I put Grover tuners on it and a humbucker, and the work was done by a guy who knew what he was doing. It was a one-of-a-kind guitar. I traded it for a brand-new acoustic back in 1986. Early this year I was watching a RUclips video of this musician at his home, and as he walked through the kitchen and into the living room of an older home, there on the wall in a frame was that guitar. I was shocked. What's it doing in a frame? Makes me wonder what the story is after it left my grubby hands. I wrote to the guy, but never heard back.
It's those moments that take you by surprise. The Plymouth is the only car in the picture, which makes it even more special. How cool is that???! What an awesome share! Thanks, man.
Installing right radio and clock makes dashboard look right. My 1963 2d Rambler Classic had a Phillips car radio since new, but it just did not look good. The faceplate was small, knobs too, a lower delete plate did not sit well... But Rambler-radio did it all... and a clock too... Oh what a happy day!
That is pretty wild that you found a picture of the 60 Fury from the 60's! Very awesome you got a radio for it as well. Cheers!
What a fun video. Putting the finishing touches on the Fury with the radio install is great to see. That vintage photo is an amazing find! The odds are huge to find that, congratulations. FB can be a good resource at times with this sort of thing. Keep up the good work, looking forward to Saturdays video, new projects are always fun!
1) Cleaning the speaker felt like an ASMR video. This episode was a Late Night Buzz with a different kind of buzz 😁
2) "The Centerfold" is a perfect name for this car.
3) If I had sent you one of the extra radios, I would certainly understand if you installed the best looking/working one and sold/traded the rest in order to help get armrests because it still furthers the cause of completing the car.
Scott, I’m loving the show, but I am hoping to see your lovely sister get her car. Cant wait for that day..
Scott, it's very cool that you now have a period picture of the '60 Fury! If you think of it, please talk about how similar/different the '59 and the '60 are to drive. A body-on-frame vs. Unibody Mopar comparo! Cheers from Pennsylvania 😊
It is amazing how the car community comes together to make a car complete. Those were some cool items that were donated and that picture just tops it off. Time to order a calendar.
That photo is incredible, what a find.👍
Would be so cool if fins could make a comeback, they really jazz a car up.
I asked a Chrysler rep about the return of fins years ago and was told that they cannot because they are now illegal because of the risk of injury to pedestrians in reverse. Seriously.
I guess spoilers have taken the place of fins.
@@FarginBastiges I have permanent dents in my forehead from my dads 60 caddy.
That's living Dangerously, Johnny!
Really, they could do 1960 Dodge fins and nobody would get hurt!
That period pic of the Fury doing its daily thing back in ‘67 is amazing. Those cars were getting seriously out of date by the late ‘60’s/early ‘70’s… looks seriously cool, towbar, looking a little ragged👍
Legend has it if you zoom in far enough you can see Scott, à la The Shining.
TA's are one of the most gangster looking cars. I'm jealous.
Tractor Gnome! You are the best!
There's just something about that Fury, it really is a special ride.
We have a radio station in Omaha, Nebraska - Boomer Radio - 1490 AM that plays hits of the 60's, 70's and 80's - perfect cruising music from the cars of CWM....
"My angel is the centerfold" The J Geils Band. 👍👍🇨🇦
That is awesome to get a photo of the Fury back in 1967
Scott , this shows that this save was meant to be , it should also be
worthy addition to next year calendar , maybe add an extra page or 2 of bonus
photos?????
I noticed the Cardinal Block Heater you were sporting there ,
almost looks like that Thrush Bird ????.
It’s so fun to relax with your channel after a hard day. So much more entertaining than anything on television these days. Good job Scott
I purchased a calendar, as you are my number 1 favorite RUclipsr!
I'v been trying to purchase a solid but rough 60 Fury wagon, in the same colors as your 60 Fury to restore. The 92 year old original owner docent want to part with it yet.... it's been off the road since 72. I has zero rust, but the engine is missing.... no biggie, interior is very rough, so is the paint. I will need to do a 100% total restoration on it, IF I can talk him into selling it. It has been garaged since new. His son watches my RUclips and told me about it as a project car as he remembers riding it as a kid and wants me to restore it. His dad wants me to restore it for his son, but they can't afford to pay me the sixty to seventy thousand I would charge to restore it. It's a car I would keep.
I mostly only restore cars I purchase, enjoy them for a few years then sell them and move onto another neat old car. I have done a few frame off restorations for others, including a 35 Chevy 1-1/2 ton grain truck for Wolcott Mill Metro Park. That was on of my favorite projects ever. The Park asked me not to laugh and walk away when I see the truck. It was rough but solid with minimal wood rot. Typical farm truck with the caved in roof hood and fenders from people climbing down from what ever was stacked on it. The dash had dozens of names and dates scrapped into it too. It had 40,000 original miles. It's original 206 inline six ran like a clock with some minor tinkering. I restored in back in the late 80's. It still is in use at the park today, looking as good as when I finished it.
Anyway as usual , I thoroughly enjoyed your video!
Hey thanks so much for ordering a calendar! Very kind of you to help support the show... I hope you can land the Plymouth wagon; would be a fantastic and special car to restore, especially if the body is still decent... Cheers form me and Frankers!
Scott, that is an amazing piece to to the history of the Fury. What are the chances at that moment in 1962, the Fury was parked there and someone took a photo. Now the photo surfaces, goes into the billions of other photos and information on the internet, and finds its way to you as the current owner. Absolutely amazing moment.
Should have a special “Toms Corner” nothing but swearing! Lol
Tom is just to cool !!!!! Love him!!!
I swear it's like Tom is channelling Walter Brennan to your John Wayne cleaning his pearl handled revolver.😅😅😂
That photograph of the Fury is amazing.
Reminds me of the old days when I would shellac my speaker to get a little extra “life” out of it. A trip to the junkyard gave me a long term fix as a ‘56 Cadillac transmission hump-mounted 6x9 speaker fit perfectly in the front of my ‘59 Ford!
I liked your car radio quiz tape a while ago and have some old radios that I will eventually part with! One of my favorites is a ‘58 Plymouth seek-scan with the speaker fader built into the radio (most of them had the speaker fader on the dash.
My regards to you, your agents and of course Frankers!
I had car radios that only worked if you banged on the dash and there was always bugs and junk on those front speakers,so annoying noises came out and when you wanted to rock out it would sometimes go silent and need another whack
My Dad's 57 deVille had a scan/seek radio, the fader was a third can on the back of the volume pot- you may be speaking earlier Mopar - specifically
Neighbor Tom is always good for a laugh.😅
Being an antique radio collector, I really enjoyed this vid. Even just to hear the local news channel coming through the speaker and the dial lamp glowing while driving adds a nostalgic feel to driving a classic. Amazing with the photo! Wow!
That photo of your nearly completely restored 1960 Fury, whar were the chances? If only we could pick up those radio stations from 1960 and not the x*!00+` of today. I can still remember their voices and the music. Same goes for TV. Haven't watched TV in Canada since Dec. '81. The Citroën Traction Avant Familiale should at least have comparatively little rust but everything else is like Cracker Jack's surprise box. Thank you gents!
Discovering that photo is really crazy! I’ve said it before, but it merits saying again, you have truly generous and kind viewers Scott which says a lot about you. Cheers to doing things you love to do, and to having others enjoy watching you do them! ❤️🔧✌🏻
Amazing that the picture is of your car! Who would have thunk it? I mainly work on old raggedy vehicles and have the utmost respect for what you and the agents did with the Fury. No wonder the family is tickled by it
I got an original radio for my 1963 Savoy. It was satisfying to put it in and see how much it cleans up the dash.
The '60 Fury has somehow touched a nerve! All of us CWM fans love this car!
Good things there with the keys, radio, etc!! Your viewers do love the car as much you.
As to the photo- 2 words destinal fate. Someone mentioned putting a copy on the dash, yet I'd say put a 8×10 in a frame on one of the walls next to it! VERY COOL, almost lighting in a bottle!
Cheers
Scott, wow! That photo is a miraculous coincidence! Your closeted Wizard status is once again affirmed! Magical cheers to you and Tom who showed up just in time to kill your family friendly rating! CWMs language liberty remains intact! I wonder if that AM receiver will still pick up Radio Free Europe?
I always enjoy spending some tinkering time with you in your shed. Cheers and the best from the plains.
Just think how awesome it would be to put the "factory radio" in the Speedster... A phonograph with a trumpet speaker that played 78 rpm cylinders! 😆
I'll get on that! @@glennnickerson8325
So fun to be able to gather more of your car's history. I know who owned my 53 Packard from 64 to 84, but before and after is still a mystery.
Amazing to see the Plymouth in the old photo. Excited to see when my calendar arrives.
The historic pic of the Fury is, well hilarious!
The speaker cleaning section was like a cool relaxing ASMR video , until Tom came in 😂
I thought I faintly heard "Cathy's Clown" by the Everly brothers playing from the Fury's newly installed radio. Nice job Scott!
Love the historical shot of the Fury.
not many days of the clear weather for outdoors. more incremental improvements on interiors. wooHoo
That old picture is so cool! Only old picture of my cars is from my 65 Valiant. I found original owners son from Facebook, sent him a message and he replied a few days later "here is picture from 1965"
I’ve always felt that a vintage receiver (whether radio, tele or telephone) should only receive actual period shows, music, emissions or conversation.
I love the time and effort you put in scott
That’s super cool seeing that car in front of the Legislature! Love the channel Scott.
A 60 Fury story. My first car was an Oyster White on white 2dr convertible that I rescued for $100 after it sat for abandoned for 5 yrs. The year was 1976. At first pretty much every electrical circuit was dead including the radio. A few days later a friend stopped by and we went out to check my new ride. I fired up the golden commando and soon the tube radio warmed up and to my shock it started to play. The first sound it made was the song Sixteen Candles by The Crests. It was from the top like the record had just dropped in the juke box. From that day on my car was known as "the ghost coach".
Loved the pic and history found. Damned cool! Cheers!
The attention to detail is so cool to watch. You make it look so easy and do a great job doing it. Bringing the history back to current times is just amazing. Thanks for rebutting in a positive and productive way.
That is just one beautiful car and the name is spot on and when you get rested YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CLOCK IN! you have accomplished so much on building your centerfold she deserves the clock and yes my cars are always a she that's the way we guys did it back then and the name on my current car is the EMERALD LADY for the color of her paint
The Traction Avant is one French car I'd be interested in watching a buildup of. They're very pretty, and this extended version only adds to its French wackiness appeal.
Would not have missed it for anything else. God bless you all and have a great weekend!
Thanks again everyone
For possibly the only period picture of the car it's really good
Thank you for the video! The picture of the car was awesome! Thanks for sharing 💯👍
Thanks for the Thursday evening entertainment !
Very cool picture of the Fury in front of the Government building. Radio looks good installed. I have a working original radio in my 66, but never turn it on, nothing worth listening to, but also listen for any mechanical issues, but wouldn't it be cool to turn the radio on and hear 1960.
How good is the new tune box looks amazing 👍….. but better yet how good is tom we all need a tom in our lives what an amazing human being that man is, keep up the good work Scott 🍻
Wow 😲 how cool 😎 and amazing is that?!? In this whole wide world someone comes across that picture of your car ages ago?!? I was just born in 67 and I'm kinda oldish and so is the picture and car😊
What's that saying, three people removed? Cool beans and speaking of beans, eat that you stinking algorithm piggy! Thanks again!
One word...MAGNIFICENT.
No way a picture of the Fury in 1967, that is so cool
It'd be cool to replicate the photo. Every car has a story to tell. San Antonio TX watching for years now 🌹
That photo can be color corrected. I think it would be cool to see if you can get either a high resolution scan of the negative or the negative itself. Then you can have a larger picture of it made to hang up, since you now know it is your car. That would be pretty coo..
The color shift is a common affliction of old slide films like Ektachrome. It can be digitally corrected to an extent, but it won't be as good as the original. Detail is limited by the blur in the original image.
That car is simply awesome..it's a 80k car here in the states!!!
Unbelievable that picture of the Fury
Someone out there has the armrests for this Fury new old stock would be great 😊😊
