The dry soil example is also like a dried up sponge. When you run water over it lots run off compared to a damp sponge that just soaks water right up. This is the example they use in the skin care world. Moisturized skin soaks up additional products much easier. 💜
If you want to remove ANY type of stain and even OIL from vehicles the best stuff is, "Prosoco". It's a commercial chemical that turns into a puddie. You pour on the spot, self levels. Let sit for couple days. Do not let it get wet. What it does is creates a very high heat and pulls all the moisture, dirt, etc.. from underneath the top layer of the concrete. This is the only stuff that'll work if you're not using a POWER washer, not a pressure washer. 👍 PS, I would probably definitely wear a exhaust mask or whatever they're called when fogging lol..
@@TheLawnCareNut Prosoco also makes Siloxane PD (pre-diluted). It seals but is breathable and invisible (no sheen). Can brush/roll/spray and protects for years. I use it on my crab orchard sandstone patio/porch/walk after a thorough cleaning. Protects and lets you hose off iron and salts before they go into the surface. Also protects against spalling.

Happy Father’s Day AH. I love our mosquito fogger. One of my neighbors was going to toss it and I figured out how to light it with a bbq lighter. I drink a beer with both next door neighbors at least once a week for last 18 years. Ever other week we smoke EM out. Unfortunately we haven’t needed this year because we are in a major dry spell. Really works when you do three yards on a cul-de-sac. I’m the lucky one in the middle. Because I a cheap skate I buy the fogging juice when it goes on clearance at the end of season for about 50% off. Awesome early results in super dry houston. I hate those type of iron spots. Try the ZEP toilet bowl cleaner…
Hey just a helpful tip, don't fog. You are kicking out more than mosquitos. If you have flowers that bloom, this is very bad. When removing all the insects that fogs do, you disturb the natural process of pollination. You wont have butterflies and many other insects that actually help your lawn ang garden live healthy. If you just have grass then go for it. Spraying is found to be better, and better than that is the new roller method. It's like a paint roller that you applicate by rolling it onto the desired surface. No mist overspray and direct contact. Definitely research this, you'll see what I'm speaking about. I just wanted to help. I was going to buy a fogger but learned this myself. Ended up not getting the fogger and purchased a trailer sprayer that im going to convert to a roller application
Iron Out powder. Make a paste. Put paste on iron spot, cover with a bucket to keep in moisture. Keep paste moist. Mist every 15-20 minutes. After an hour or so the rust is gone.
I've never seen any of the big RUclipsrs talk about Mavrik Perimeter (tau-fluvalinate) for mosquitoes. It's cheap, non-toxic to bees, and lasts for quite a few days until a heavy rain. Works really well.
I’ve tried Sedge hammer for “water grass”, “sedge” etc… Total waste of time and money for my lawn. Tenacity knocks it out right away and is is my “go to” post emergent weed control. YMMV. 🤷♂️
Another great rust stain removing combo is baking soda and hydrogen peroxide…you can spray down the area with a 1:1 mix with water (or full strength) sprinkle the baking soda over top, let sit for a few minutes, then come back and scrub and rinse. This is best on straight concrete as it can have a bit of a bleaching effect if you don’t dilute the hydrogen peroxide enough
I use wet and forget on my brick with a decent concentrated mix in my pump sprayer. Saves time, back, and knees. Only drawback I find is you have to be careful with over spray, it will burn grass and plants. Spraying with a board helps but is more work.
Goof Off’s Rust Aid works really well. It also can cause some grass die back. Just use a Harbor Freight hand held pump sprayer to apply, and then hose it down.
Sooo. The toilet bowl cleaner and clr are both oxidizers. It basically dissolves the iron. I use phosphoric acid. I get it from the chemical isle of home Depot for what I would consider much cheeper. The catch is that phosphoric acid might create iron phosphate which is black. I've never had blackening of rust stains. But if your concerned muriatic acid won't. And it's in that same isle or at pool care stores. I keep the phosphoric because I also use it to rust blue bare metal on my machine projects.

Sometimes when I add a lot of town water to my pool my liner will stain from some iron in our water. I use ascorbic acid in the water and it disappears nearly instantly. Test a few crushed up vitamin C tablets on your stain to see if that works for you. If so, you can buy powdered ascorbic acid to clean that stuff of your walkway.
I'm a few miles away from you (Fort Hamer and Old Tampa) and the county's mosquito control seems to be very effective. I rarelt notice mosquitos over here.
I use muriatic acid to clean rust stains from my concrete caused from the iron in the well water. It can be purchased from Lowes/Home Depot. Does not hurt my zoysia & I use it full strength.
Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) is not good for concrete. It will remove the iron, but it will etch the concrete, too. You can rinse it away, but concrete is porous and it gets absorbed. Since they're bricks, it might not be as big of a concern. Oxalic acid might work for you and it's much more gentle. I've successfully used it to remove iron staining. It's commonly used for woodworking.
