4K Ultra HD virtual walking tour in Dalt Vila, Ibiza.
Originally called Ibosim and founded by the Phoenicians, Dalt Vila has been added to by successive occupiers and was once one of the most important coastal cities in the Mediterranean. The last addition was the Renaissance defensive walls that surround it, which Kings Charles I and Philip II of Spain had constructed to defend against the Ottomans.
Dalt Vila is rich in cultural and historic artefacts, and as a result in 1999 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In addition to the castle and its walls, there is a cathedral, a monastery and several museums.
The real attraction of Dalt Vila is that around all these ancient artefacts are restaurants decorated with fairy lights, people dining on balconies, antiques shops, jewellery shops and much more, giving this place a magical feel. You can lose yourself in the labyrinth of narrow passageways, as you climb further away from the tourist areas in to the residential cobbled streets. Local children play football below hanging washing and plenty of bougainvillea, at this stage you feel you have entered the real Ibiza.
