Philthy Rich: Growing Up in "Kill Zone", Getting Shot 3 Times, Selling Cocaine

- Growing up in East Oakland, Philthy Rich says he had a rough time during his upbringing, so much so, he's looked up to his "OGs" who were involved in the street life, which inevitably led him in handcuffs at 11 for stealing bikes. Though his petty crimes would turn into drug related offenses he admits as the first born, his mother didn't know how to raise him and eventually had him live with his teacher between 3rd and 5th grade.
By the time he was 18, he had faced many legal troubles and ended up serving time in prison in 2010 for a gun charge. Even though Philthy Rich tells DJ Vlad that he was fed up of being in-and-out of jail and ultimately decided to pursue his rap career, he admits that he still had his run-ins with law enforcements for selling cocaine. Eventually, as he began to gain popularity and recognition as a local Bay Area celebrity, he says he agrees with Boosie comments on moving out of your hood once successful and recalls the time he was shot three times while parked in his Maserati.

I grew up with a friend who was considered a nerd, we both wore backpacks(at that time that was called corny) he was a swimmer i was a Bball player. We were never stopped by police because we never looked the part.
We both went to college and started our careers, he wound up being a chiropractor with his own office. All that time I never knew he sold drugs to pay for his college and his career. he was smart.

The way I saw it was philthy explaining how the street life was taking him nowhere so he stopped selling dope to improve his life with rap. And how no dad in his life caused him to rebel so he wants to be a good parent for his kids. Now he has enough money to support his family and doesnt have to be a criminal just to get by. More of a inspirational story for those who are still stuck in the hood.
