Really enjoyed your rundown of the various Howard creations! The Spanish Conan Comic is certainly a thing, rarer than hens teeth and priced accordingly. One comic we don't want to neglect mentioning though, is CHAMBER OF DARKNESS 4 predating CONAN 1. STARR THE SLAYER drawn by Barry W Smith is the Conan tryout issue. You can certainly see the Genesis of Conan in Barry's rendition of Starr
You are correct. There are a number of Mexican Conan comics called La Reina De La Costa Negra in the 50s. Pretty pricey but there are some reprints. Interestingly a complete set has never been put together as they are that rare. I believe there were two runs.
So it's true then? Awesome! I think someone (definitely a Titan) should be considering this as a worthwhile product. I don't read Spanish right now but I'm totally willing to learn if that's what it will take to make that happen. Thanks for the details!
There's a great essay about the Mexican Conan in an old Savage sword of Conan that tells you pretty much everything you need to know. And People of the dark can be found in Savage Sword #6. And its great!
A hah! So Dark Agnes does predate that Conan: Serpent War book! And that one has El Borak too! Awesome! Thanks for the lead, I’ll keep an eye you for those. 👍🏼
Re: a reprint featuring all of the James Allison stories, would that happen to be “Swords of the North”? I saw someone mention over at a certain place that that volume was going to be reprinted, but I haven’t been able to find any official announcements or news blurbs to that effect. Has it been confirmed? (If so, great news! I’ve wanted to pick that one up for a while, both for the James Allison stories and all of the Cormac Mac Art tales as well.)
Oh, I may have also heard about that from that certain place! hah! Nothing that I've found about it yet, but time will tell. We can just keep an eye out!
@@tennesseefats and I might have been that someone 😏 It's being published by the REH Foundation. The book is finished have there been some delays with the printer, but it should be available very soon!
If you have not read Dark Agnes then you should. I have only gotten the stories in Swedish but they are true Howard-awesomeness! Solomon Kane and El Borak are underrated in my book!
Yep, my first glance at that queen, I thought, “Uh, who drew that?” And then you showed Wally Wood’s name and it was like yeah, of course, who else could it possibly have been? Interesting coda to Stalker - as far as I know the character wasn’t used for decades after the comic was canceled, but he popped up as the villain in “The Justice Society Returns,” the 1999 fifth-week event that brought the JSA back to prominence in the DCU. It’s been years since I read it, but if memory serves, he was summoned to Earth by Nazi mystics in 1943 or ‘44 and decided to end all life on earth, forcing the JSA to call in their reserves and take on his avatars.
Hah! Yep, that Queen was one that makes you scratch your head and then when you see the name it all comes together. Ha ha ha! I had no idea that DC actually brought the character back! That must have been one heck of a story!
Yep. No Bran yet. This one just covered the characters in the image in the essay for 2024 FCBD. Here’s hoping we see him soon so we can cover that character too!
We are glad you enjoyed the comic and are excited for the series that is to come!
Oh I am definitely excited to see where this is going to go. Great work to your team on this one!
@@tennesseefats Thank you!
No problem at all! Thanks for watching the channel! I’m still shocked that the official Conan is watching my babbling! 😂😂😂

Oh, I will! ⚔️🗡️⚔️🗡️⚔️
The Howardverse has me so excited. Solomon Kane is one of my favorite heroes of all time so looking forward to hopefully seeing more of him.
He's definitely a cool and complex character!
I think any inclusion of him in a Howardverse would be a totally warranted effort!
I can't wait for the mini-series! ⚔️
Oh, I'm totally excited about what they're putting out right now. Solid stuff!

oh Absolutely! I've seen images of that Chamber of Darkness Story before. Definitely a test for marvel. Good catch!
There's also Chamber of Chills 2 and 3 that adapt "Horror from the Mound" and "The Thing on the Roof"

Oh! I'll have to poke around and see what I can find about that essay! Thanks for the tip!
Oh just fyi, the first comic book appearance of both Dark Agnes and El Borak was Robert E. Howard's Savage Sword #1 (Dark Horse, 2010)
A hah! So Dark Agnes does predate that Conan: Serpent War book! And that one has El Borak too! Awesome! Thanks for the lead, I’ll keep an eye you for those. 👍🏼

Btw you could say that El Borak is like Indiana Jones, but on crack! 😂
He is kinda a blend between Indiana Jones and Conan.

Why is Solomon Kane so popular? Is this some middle american mormon fantasy or something? The pilgrim thing is gothic
I think his popularity comes from him being such a complex REH character. Sometimes the reader is left guessing as to what his next steps will be.
