    I'd love to see you run at our track. Damn near sea level, and multiple IHRA records set here w/Pro Mod at the IHRA meets. NHRA sucks IMO. Been watching since the Kapiris Bros first had the 58' Mopar bodied car. Loved seeing that given all the anti-Mopar BS going on here.

    Whats the differens between a Pro Slammer and a Pro Mod ?

    • @dylanwilliams9002
      @dylanwilliams9002 2 года назад +1

      Pro slammers can only use superchargers and I believe 514 cubic inch displacement. While Pro Mods can use superchargers, turbochargers and nitrous oxide.

      It's one of the least likely parts to fail in a Pro Mod / Doorslammer. You can expect to put around 100 passes on an engine before it needs a complete rebuild/machining work done, whereas a transmission will last several hundred. The biggest wear and tear on a trans is actually on the converter/clutch, which they service nearly every run. The rest is fine.

    • @johnwilson1794
      @johnwilson1794 5 лет назад +1

      These prices seem low to me for AUD perhaps they mean USD?. For example a Rossler 3sp auto is 15,700USD (23,155AUD) alone. A lock up convertor to suit is around 7000USD (10,300AUD) and a bellhousing is a couple of thousand USD as well. So before you know it you have nearly 40k AUD just in a transmission. Racing ain't cheap.

      They have good brakes, they don´t have enough traction on front to really slow down. It´s like using an E-brake at 400+ km/h.
      Just imagin the front tires on the back with 3000+ hp... You cant put the power down...

    The one thing I will never understand about drag racers. The ones that put the most unareodynamic body on a car and expect to go fast at the top end. Guess they do not understand the result of pushing a brick through the air verses a low drag shape through the air. Still fun to watch other wise similar cars with the same horse power and driver abilities loose and the smart ones win.

    • @burnout9069
      @burnout9069 5 лет назад +2

      One major factor is because being the fastest at the end isn't a winning stradigy. Cutting a perfect light and getting out of the whole and staying on track, Then run it out the back is what these professional drivers strive for. Track, weather, engine tune (how much power can be dialed in as soon as possible before the tires give way "shake".. Or where it can be used the most effectively?) chassis tune and clutch feed on the start line all have to be considered and adjusted before each run. Not to mention monitoring engine condition to the above. Smart drivers is like have one Iron in a Golf tournament.
      A smart Tuner is worth huge dollars. It's a lot more involved then most spectators think. And one reason why it can takes these guys over 20years to get were they are.

      @@burnout9069 exactly.. and to add to that, those seemingly unaerodynamic bricks aren't bricks at all, though they may have the similar shape of say, a 57 Chevy, they're not what they emulate... they're quite aerodynamic, though they aren't as slippery as say a Camaro-style body, but like you said, drag racing isn't only about aerodynamics, it's all about RT and ET and getting down the track straight and hooked up the whole way.... it ain't Bonneville Speed Week
