- During a particularly heated back and forth at the House of Rep probe into the Capital Market crash, SEC boss, Arunma Oteh goes on the defensive. Offended that her competence and credibility have been brought into question, Oteh defended her practice on the job while questioning the credibility of the leaders of the House of Rep committee on the Capital Market.
Watching this for the first time in 2021, and she's giving me goosebumps.
We need people that can stand up and "fight."

The EFCC does not need your permission to investigate you YeYe man. I am proud of the leading women in Nigeria, unfortunately we lose them to more serious organizations like the World Bank and the United Nations. It's happened many times, they just don't have enough support.

It is so wrong for him to have said so. She raised an issue; he misquoted her. She had to set the record straight and he is telling her to mute her mic. If she were a man, would he have dismissed her like that? All this is rooted in patriarchy and it is unacceptable. Ms Oteh, irrespective of whatever the issues were, should've been allowed to air her views exhaustively and not asked to shut up while they continue the "kangaroo" process.

This man was just the wrong person to lead this investigation. A Nigerian made local politician who cannot even stand up to a well trained and well educated woman who has worked for some of the leading global organisations. No wonder she was effectively able to slap down Hemba and put a stop to his investigation, in other words, she won hands meanwhile we still have no answers to what happened to the events that led to the capital markets collapse that cost investors and companies billions of naira. Next time, the Nigerian government should hire independent investigators to investigate issues like these rather than politicians themselves whose hands are not clean
