Without spoiling the storyline, his particular song is performed in the musical as a solo piece by Evan, the main character. For this version, they re-arranged it as initially a duet (two duets), then as a 4-part harmony.

Thank you you read my mind. The vocals are great but it’s the real story behind the song that really makes it tragic and sad.

More of an animatic guy personally but the song legit made me cry the first time hearing it.
as a side note, you should listen to some of Divide music's songs, the guy never misses and makes absolute BOPS.

I love this song as well as this version of the song. Seeing you react to it, even though you have no idea what it's about, made me enjoy the video a lot more. How you feel watching this, the harmonies and the different sections, is how I felt when I first saw that video.

You can watch the 2021 movie version of Dear Evan Hansen but I'm not sure this is the best way to experience the musical. If you look around the internet, there are some unofficial recordings of "slime tutorials" that represent the musical better despite the inferior video and audio quality. You can also react to the official Broadway cast album.

Andrew Barth Feldman is my favorite Evan in this group. When I saw the show in NYC Taylor Trensch was Evan and Alex Boniello was Connor. They have done an acoustic version of the song Disappear. It is gorgeous! 🥰 DEH was written by the same guys that wrote The Greatest Showman. They are so gifted.

So many great songs in this movie. A movie with a powerful message, but very melancholy. I highly recommend "You Will Be Found" cover by One Voice Children's Choir, the four year old version is better than the version released a few months ago.

It’s a beautiful show. Unfortunately it’s a Broadway show and they just wrapped up tour. But if you can get to New York and see this live on Broadway, do it, it’s well worth the investment. I cried multiple times.

It'd be cool to see you go through the album of the Broadway cast and react tot he songs (for a musical theater album, there's not all that many, TBH), but if you do, I'd recommend pulling up the show's summary like on wikipedia or something for a little context. see, the show isn't as sung-through as most, sot here are context scenes left entirely off the album, plus, some songs the characters are straight up lying, and the audience watching the show would know, but someone just listening to the album wouldn't. So, for context/clarity, that'd be my recommendation.
I know some people might complain about 'spoiling' the plot but the way i see it, shows like this aren't about the 'surprise twist' or anything like that, it's about getting to know/see the characters, so knowing the context for the songs adds rather than detracting. At least, that's my take. And completely moot if you'd rather watch the show itself (bootleg or film) prior to reacting to the songs.
