The band were definitely on a level of creativity that's never been matched since, but fans that were out of their trees thought the band had some mystical knowledge. John and George in particular got sick of all that shit, and it was tough to shake of that legacy when the band finally split. All they really wanted was to make music, but also to try to experience some kind of normal life after all the attention and craziness of Beatlemania. They had open minds and dabbled in all that life had to offer, but at their heart they were still four down to earth mates from Liverpool, who managed to retain their sense of humour, and a healthy cynicism about fame.

You two do realize that you're listening to hands down the Greatest Band to ever do it! This is a John Lennon song from their last Lp Abbey Road released in September 1969. The Lp cover is one of the most iconic in history. In 1966 a radio dj started a rumour that Paul Mccartney had died in a car wreck and it went global overnight. Claim was the Paul you were seeing was a double. I remember seeing magazines on the news stands with Paul on cover saying Paul is dead. I was like 9 and it freaked me out. Some people still believe this crap today. The Beatles had some fun with it. This Lp cover where they are walking across Abbey road is Lennon in white was the preacher, Ringo Starr in black the pallbearer, Mccartney is the dead man walking out of step with the others and bare foot which is a burial ritual in India and George Harrison is the gravedigger in his denim's. Mccartney to this day says he was barefoot because it was a hot day. BS Paul, these were highly intelligent young men. They knew exactly what they were doing. By the way, the white car on the left is a VW beetle, get it, Beatle. Some DJ pointed out that the license plate is 28 IF. Paul would have been 28 if he had lived to make this Lp. Nice try, close but he 27 in 1969. When the band split up they were still all in their twenties. Amazing what they accomplished in just 7 years and Soo Young! I hope you kids learned something here. Glad to Beatle educate you two. Thinking back I think the Paul rumors may have started in 67, it's been a long time now.

More than fifty years later, that crosswalk in London is famous (because of this iconic album cover) and was in the news last year: Because of the pandemic, tourist traffic was way down, so folks repainted the stripes and repaired the pavement, because it was so worn down. Tourists would walk across it in a line, like the Beatles, and have their photo taken, etc.

I saw A Day In The Life Comments were turned off. Listen up kiddies, Beatle class is back in session. This might get a little lengthy but read on, you're gonna learn from someone who knows this band inside out. I was fortunate enough to see these guys in Pittsburgh in 1964 for my 6th birthday, that's what I wanted for my birthday. Complete chaos, the girls screaming and some fainting, it was crazy! Ok, here we go. This song was mainly Lennon song with the middle part being Mccartney which was an unfinished song that they incorporated into this song is musical genius! This song is from Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band released in June,1967. This Lp is voted the greatest Lp ever by Rolling Stone Magazine and Billboard and also universally by music critics. The Lp cover is the most iconic in history and the most expensive to this day. This song is about a day in the life of Lennon about reading stories in the newspaper one day. He blew in a car was not a suicide but a car accident that killed a young 25 yr old from the very prominent Guinness family who had just Inherited 25 million dollars.Ok sweetie you didn't get the 4,000 holes thing. That was a small filler in the paper about a London authority road crew that was sent out to count potholes in the roads in the Blackburn, Lancashire district and in one road they counted 4,000 holes. When Lennon sings I'd love to turn you on he's saying they wanted to turn you on to LSD, you know, acid. This was the big LSD Lp that changed pop culture forever. When Mccartney sings "found my way upstairs and had a smoke and somebody spoke and I went into a dream" he's talking about smoking a reefer. These guys were very clever how they tried to get around the censor's back then. This song was caught by the BBC though and banned from the radio along with Lennon's Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, same Lp. This Lp was the first ever with the lyrics printed on the back cover. A British radio dj point out the title represented LSD use. Lucy, L. Sky, S. Diamonds, D. LSD, get it. This was total BS. Lennon joked when he heard of this he started scouring the lyrics on the back cover to see what else there was. Although this song had LSD imagery it wasn't about a particular acid trip. Check this song out, it's pretty damn cool and catchy. The shame of this Lp was the first 2 songs recorded for the Lp were Strawberry Fields Forever/ Penny Lane which never made the Lp because their manager was pressuring their producer, George Martin that they hadn't released a single in 7 months so he relented and these songs went out as a single. Although it ended up being a double A Side which means both songs were so good they were played on the radio as both A Sides. The Beatles had several of these , nobody else in history has even one. Martin said it was the only decision he ever regretted. Strawberry Fields was a landmark recording in music history. It took 55 hrs to record, a record to this day. This is a Lennon song. They recorded a slow version and a faster version. Lennon liked both and asked Martin if they could combine the two. This took time, they didn't have the technology back then. What you hear today is one song recorded at 2 different speeds combined into one. It's Genius! This song is as weird and beautiful now as it was in early 1967. Penny Lane is Mccartney. Lennon's one contribution to the lyric was " four of fish and finger pies" get it? Finger pies. Now this is how you sneak a sexual reference in and slip past the vendors, it's brilliant! Lennon was a one of a kind character. These are 2 wonderful songs that you should check out along with Lucy In The Sky and try to react to. Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane were the first 2 songs in history that had videos made to promote them. You can react to the videos. George Harrison joked yrs later that The Beatles kinda invented MTV fourteen yrs before MTV. We would live in quite different world today without The Beatles. They changed not only popular music but how we listen to it. They also changed popular culture forever. Their influence is immeasurable! Hope I enlightenment you two kids a little. Appreciate these 4 young men!

BTW, the crosswalk they're on is right outside the Abbey Road recording studio. It looks pretty similar to how it looked 50 years ago, and people still walk across it to get their picture taken. If you ever get to London, it's worth taking a little time to get there and walk across. You can take the Underground (aka "The Tube") to the St. John's Wood station, and it's about a five-minute walk from there.

The Beatles Abby Road album cover is the most iconic album cover ever. Many have copied it and it has been parodied in many shows and cartoons, such as The Simpsons, and Ren and Stimpy. This was The Beatles last album, and in my opinion, their greatest album. You both should take time to listen to it. You will love it. Loved your reaction.

The picture represents a funeral procession. John is the preacher, Ringo is the mortician, Paul is the dead man (Look up the story on that and fall down a very deep rabbit hole) and George represented the grave digger in common clothes. (I'm sure there are other interpretations but this is the one I've heard since the album came out 50 years ago.)

Paul was barefoot on the cover simply because it was a hot London day, and he lived literally around the corner from where they took this photo (outside the EMI Recording Studios where they made this and most of their other records). He had worn sandals to the photo shoot (which can be seen in discarded takes), but kicked them off for this particular shot.

The cover was for the scandal that Paul had died. Lennon in white was the Preacher, Ringo in Black was the undertaker, Paul in dress attire and barefoot indicates he is the deceased, and George in denim was the grave digger.

FUN FACT: As a way to leave the music business in true Beatles fashion, George Martin, the man who produced the Beatles (a man many dubbed "The Fifth Beatle"), picked out a handful of comedians, actors and music composers and got them all working together to create an album of Beatles Hits, naming it "In My Life" after the famous song. On said album, the song "Come Together" was performed by comedic legend Robin Williams and R&B singer Bobby McFerrin. The video can indeed be found on RUclips. You should check it out.

In order there is John Lennon in the front in white, behind him is Ringo Starr, then Paul McCartney, who is the one not wearing shoes, and at the end in blue jeans is George Harrison. This is from their Abbey Road album in the fall of 1969 which was nearing the end of their band as they broke up early the following year. Both John and George are dead now with Paul and Ringo the only ones remaining now.

About the album photo, Paul took his shoes off because it was a hot day. They did the walk there several times for the photo session. Also, on the right side of the photo (out of view though) is the Abbey Road Studios where they recorded most of their songs.

Some people say The Rolling Stones, but most think this is the greatest Rock and Roll band ever. You should do them right and go to the beginning of their career and progress through it. They evolved constantly and heavily influenced almost every rock ‘n’ roll band after them.

In white is John Lennon - shot on 8 December 1980. Right after him is Pasul McCartney - still alive and kicking today. Then we have the drummer, Ringo Starr (real name Richard Starkey) who's also alive today. The last one in blue is George Harrison who died of a disease.

This is a very famous photo of them on a street crossing outside the Abbey Road studios where they recorded. One of their crazier songs. John Lennon was shot in 1980 by a fan who apparently wanted to be famous, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are still alive but George Harrison died in 2001.

Back about the time this album was released a rumor got started that Paul McCartney had died suddenly. Keep in mind that there was no internet or cell phones back in those days. All your news came from radio, 5 or 6 channels of tv, magazines, and newspapers - and it was always slightly dated info. Anyway, this LP "Abbey Road" , plus "Magical Mystery Tour", and "Sgt Peppers" contain all kinds of little hints and clues concerning the rumor. In this picture you'll notice Paul has no shoes making him different from the others. In the song "Strawberry Fields" at the very end you can clearly hear someone, possibly John, say "I Bury Paul". There are parts of other songs if played backwards, easy when all you had were record players, give even more nutty clues. Believe me, fans were absolutely obsessed with this mystery.

Forgot to mention this in my previous comment, but, It's funny you all have that little "To the top" thing you all do at the beginning. When The Beatles were first starting out, before they were famous, and they were getting discouraged, to cheer them up John Lennon would shout "Where are we going fellas!" and they would respond "To the top Johnny!" and John would shout "Where!" And they would shout back "To the toppermost of the Poppermost!" and they would all cheer up and feel better.
