I too, took a pay cut in the beginning, but realized I valued happiness and freedom over money. It takes time to make money doing what you love, but that's all part of the sacrifice! Happy to hear that you're happier : ) thanks for watching
Wow! It's a leap of faith for sure, similar to mine (except my boss was not my dad), but I'm a big believer that if it feels right, everything will work out fine. Just be on top of the "next steps" and enjoy the weight off of your shoulders. Thanks for watching! Keep us posted.
MichelleVa 77 I feel the same! I use to somewhat enjoy, and I was moved not by choice but my skill set to another department because of Services need. And I really dislike my job now
I hate my job too. I cry on the way to work and on the way home and the stress makes me literally sick. It's not healthy for me to stay at my job and I was just off for five months. I literally don't know what to do for work either and didn't come up with anything during my time off. ☹️
I feel the same! I did three months training and have been out on the floor for just a little over a month and i swear my supervisor hates me I am constantly feeling belittled. I refuse to waste anymore of my life on a job I hate.
MichelleVa 77 I'm in the same boat we just got a new manager and she does not like me one bit I guess cuz I speak my mind. Now they're forcing us to take classes outside of work hours and not getting paid this is it for me time to start planning.
Thanks for this video. I have high anxiety even thinking about going to my job the next day. The night before I usually can't sleep because I think about the long day ahead of me, usually 12+ hours. I'm not into the coworkers at all, very two-faced females and it adds to anxiety. I feel it's a one way street, I am only there for myself and I could care less about any other employee there because they are not people I can trust. Also the boss is overwhelming. Micro-manager. Friendly to your face type but go behind your back and tell management without telling you first of your wrong-doings and try to fix the problem. Again, adds more anxiety. I feel on the edge all the time. I basically just try to get through the day & night at work. I hate 12 hour shifts, plus maybe a 10-11 hour shift every other week. Being at a job you hate for that many hours sucks, I feel like my life is wasting away, but I do have 3-4 days off, which I can't complain. I think maybe it's the environment in itself. I wrote down a list about what I hate the most 1. The boss 2. The Coworkers. 3. Micro-managing 4. Upper management 5. It's not my passion. 6. I rather work at a solo-job with someone not up my ass all day. Currently I am applying to all sorts of jobs to get out. I can't leave unfortunately due to all my bills. I also work an hour away from where I live so a closer job would be great. I haven't heard back from any of the jobs I applied to, I am hoping soon. I feel like I could walk out at any given day because I have so much anger and hate for the job and everyone there. It takes a lot out of me to even drive there without wanting to hit a tree. Good luck everyone.
Dave this sounds so much like me ! I trust nobody at my job everyone talks badly about others and think that they are better then you it's not worth it for the pay where are you now tho?
I really needed this today. Almost quit my job this morning. Glad I found you. I have been trying to help myself because I feel so completely trapped by my situation. Thanks for broadening the perspective and pushing the walls back.
Your comment is one of the first things I read this morning. It's always so refreshing to hear when a viewer gained valuable information from one of my videos. I am SO happy it helped and glad you found it at the right time. Please keep me posted on your job situation. It's nice to meet you! xo
***** thanks so much for responding! I found your channel through Overall Adventures, by the way! I am trying to get back into journaling to organize my thoughts etc. She gave you a shout out in one of her journaling videos and I knew I HAD to check you out. I will be sure to keep you updated- thanks so much for your kindness and concern.
This video popped up again and I realized I had commented on it 10 months ago. Since then I left my job with no back up plan! I picked up some side hustles, doing some freelance work, driving ride share, and shopping for Shipt. I have never been happier. This is allowing me more flexibility to work on my business because I now make my schedule. I also love the fact that I can make as much money as I want with my side hustles if I work more. It’s not a fixed amount that I received from my corporate America job.I don’t know why 70 people thumbs down to this video! I mean seriously! If you truly believe that you are stuck in your job and you think that your place of business is the only place to work for you are highly mistaken. The only thing holding yourself back is YOU
Hey Alisha, I LOVE this comment and how much control you took over your situation. Bravo girl. And congratulations. Isn't it so FREEING and wonderful :) Welcome to the club. And thanks for posting an update. Love success stories
Shaina Leis YES! It was such a free feeling! I’ve never been happier. I don’t think people realize how much control they actually have over their own life. I am the creator of my OWN life ❤️
Shaina Leis also, I have my video content lined up for the month, when the podcast comes out, I am going to do a video on Podcasts to listen to in 2019. I will mention your podcast “ permission granted!”
Shaina, I don't know how youtube's recommended videos hit it so spot on, but this video is exactly what I needed to see today. After a terrible Monday (and sadly, it is halloween and I opted to stay in after such a horrible work day), I really needed some strong advice on how to move forward past today. Thank you for your thoughtful words and inspiration. -Kristen
Kristen- I'm so glad I could be that person for you today. I've been where you are. The fact that you're actively looking for solutions is huge. Be proud of yourself for that. I hope your week gets better. Keep me posted. And Happy Halloween girl 🎃😘
Excellent advice. Quitting out of the blue must've been the best day ever! I love that you made plans and lined things up first, and then just jumped. I also like your idea of writing down all of your obstacles and then generating solutions. I'm going to do this for multiple areas of my life this week. Thank you!
I value the freedom over the pay because I have faith (but there still is a part of me that is afraid I’ll end up homeless). The healthy insurance, car payments, student loans and two dogs. I have this sinking feeling before work every single day!! I cant do it anymore.
Sometimes it helps to paint the picture of the absolute worst case scenario. A lot of automatically go to the place of "I'm going to be homeless," but doing some exploring, and I'm confident you'll find a less scary "worst case." Maybe not ideal, but not as drastic. And then once you get that thinking out of your mind, you can start taking small action steps while still at your job.
Shaina Leis very true. I say down and made a plan because I absolutely can’t work for this company any longer. I’ve been having panic attacks and one landed me an over night in a hospital. So I’m giving myself a month. A a full 30 days and then putting in my notice. I’ve started working for a shopping company part time that gives great tips and hopefully can save while I’m in purgatory on this current job. Smh. It’s a shame too. Many of you have devices from them and don’t realize they treat their employees like pure garbage.
New subscriber! I’m going back to a job where I enjoy the actual job, but not so much the previous drama. Having a hard time with this new transition back into the work field, so I am glad I watched your video full of such positivity! Thank you. Have a happy Monday!!! 😃
I also work at a cancerous job, they try to brainwash people into thinking it's the best place to work but seeing the inside of the organization you can see how evil it is...I'm working toward a way out but it's tough in the meantime coming to something that you hate everyday... But possible! :)
Shaina Leis thanks, yeah I have a plan in place because complaining and doing nothing wasnt working....surprise surprise ! So now getting to the point I want to is going to take a few years so gonna have to make the best with what I have now until I'm ready to move on.
Thank you for making this video. I'm having a tough time at my job and thinking about quitting. I'm going to explore why I hate the job, so that I don't experience the same feelings again in a new job. I also need to take steps in pursuing what I want to do. Everything feels scary though especially the uncertainty of the future. I enjoyed the video very much.
Bryan- glad to hear that you found this video helpful. I used to be scared of the future too!!! Until I started designing my future- the way I wanted. It takes the guessing out of it and you're actually creating a life you want to live : ) Good luck and keep me posted!
I sent in my resignation two weeks ago and my last day is tomorrow. I don't have a job lined up and I was struggling with whether I should do an internship or get a job in the meantime. I decided to focus on one thing and that is to pass my bar exam. I want it to pay off and I'm planning what to do if I fail. I'll probably take it again, but I'm definitely going to need to do something.
I now have come to completely hate my job and dread going to work, my mom keeps telling me "You make good money and will afford many things." But I value happiness over money, now I find myself not eating as much on my lunch break because of all this and I even prayed to God to get me out of there. I have been guilt-tripped, I have felt worthless, and my co-worker dropped a hard piece of insulation on my head and gave me no warnings whatsoever.
So glad they're helping :) Lots of goodies here. Be sure to sign up for my email list if you haven't already. New webinars and extra content coming out!
I SO needed this! I used to like my job until management changed recently, now it’s micromanaging from hell. I have been working on trying to start my RUclips channel and I have a lot to learn on how to improve it, but I definitely have the mentality that I can change it.
I loved this!! I left my job in Oct to start a business, and my business is completely different than the job I was in. I went to college for a degree and a license, and I've been preparing for the last couple years to leave that field and do something totally different. I agree with this video so much! 😊
It's crazy how many of us have faced or currently facing the same predicament. Seems like you have a good handle on your job situation..happy to hear that!
Oh my gosh I actually feel like we are mentally connected after watching this (sounds creepy but it was meant with good intent😂)! I just watched your video about getting out of a rut and then saw this one on your channel as well! I am definitely am in a rut right now and as sad as it is I am only realizing it today after a couple weeks of feeling unhappy. I have come to the conclusion that my job is the root of my rut. It really helped me out to see that someone else has felt the same way that I do and didn't know what to do after thinking about quitting their job. I love making RUclips videos as well and feel that taking some time and just doing what I love might make a world of a difference! Sorry this was a crazy long comment I just wanted to let you know that this video really helped me out!
+MissGlitz98 Not a crazy comment at all. I'm just happy that you find the information so helpful. And I totally know what you mean about feeling connected! I've felt that plenty of times when I come across certain things. And you're soooooo right....taking more time to do the things you enjoy is beneficial in so many ways. Now you can start making your way out of your rut. Please keep me posted! xoxo
I hate my job because of social anxiety. I’m glad I have a job it but it’s really made me unhappy. I’d rather do something I enjoy but I see myself just rotting away at this place. Not a parachute type of person so idk
Thank you for your videos. I just found your channel and watched quite a few videos today so I’m happy to get the encouragement I need to pursue the right job that fits me.
I work in a rehab facility for patients who are recovering from brain injuries. My employer did say that they do have a high turnover rate and they did say “this job is not for everyone.” I knew what I was signing up for and wanted to see for myself if it’s a job for me. But after working for only a few months, I’ve been dreading and experiencing anxiety everyday before going into work. On my days off, it still sticks on my mind. Ive never felt this way about a job before. I have a long work history. Never been fired before though. I’m in great terms with all of my former employers. Ive stayed at a job for a little over 2 years. But it’s only been a little over 3 months working at my current job. I know that I want to quit but I’m concerned that me trying to leave will make me look bad to other employers that I apply to. And of course, I have some bills to pay for so I’ll need a job secured before leaving. Is bad that I want to leave so soon?
I've been the type who jump ship and it doesn't work for me. I become over confident and try to freelance. I'm just not there yet. I have a game plan and my job is close in proximity. I'm going to write with you... thank you sooo much!
Yay! I'm new here. I actually saw this video b4 the other one so I've learned a lot from them. I'm going to share my story : I've been in a public institution for almost 4 years, but in different areas. 8 months ago I was working in an area that didn't require much of a mental challenge for me and it didn't improve much my career so I decided to apply for another area, and after some effort I make it! However to my surprise this new job wasn't as I expected. I feel very bored and some days I don't have much to do. I always liked to learn something new but in this case that there's nonmore challenges anymore. I told myself: " I'm going to wait to months to see if it gets better" but now that I'm close to the deadline I can see it won't get bette. I'm afraid to quit, bc I've been there for almost 4 years and I met good people, but something tells me that is time to move on. Is it ok to quit after only a couple of months in that area? How would you handle this?
Yes! All you can do is take the facts at hand and make the best decision possible. People get themselves into "trouble" when they start telling themselves well I'll wait it out for X amount of months, and THEN, and THEN, and THEN. This is your ego and when we make decisions from that place, it steers us down the wrong path. It sounds like you already know what to do. Now, you must manage your mind to work with you and support your decision. Make sense?
Thank you for this video! I just started an internship and I feel like this career path may be wrong for me. This really helped me stop panicking and think logically.
Hello, I hate my job. I work around 50 to 60 hours a week, most days are 10 to 12 hours shifts, and my schedule is random so every week i'm scheduled different hours and days. I work as a manager in the retail industry. It's a very stressful and physically demanding job. I feel like I have no time for myself and whatever time I do have I spend the day resting because my body aches. Right now I'm sitting in the parking lot, about to go into a 12 hour shift. I'm really considering an e-commerce business, and to take control of my life. I just bought a house, and have plenty of bills, and I just got married last year. I want a baby but I'm putting it off until I find my way in life. I just wish I could quit today!
Hi Jospeh. Thanks for watching...I hope you found 1 or two pieces of valuable information here. I have a few other videos that relate to this topic that you might find helpful. I love when you said "take control of my life." I know it might sound strange, but I could sense that through your text. Sounds like you know what you want and you're ready to do something about it. Start planning, making some moves and keep your bigger goal in mind. You got this. I'm wishing you the best of luck! Please keep me posted.
Shauna, not only I hate my job I despise it. After 22 years invested in this giant corporation I feel so defeated. My biggest fear is that at age 45 can I completely make a change and be successful since I haven't changed jobs in so Long?
Of course you can! It doesn't matter what age. First, you must believe it yourself! And then once you've changed your mind about what's possible for you, you use that empowerment and motivation to seek solutions.
Health insurance is possible as self employed, just speak with a health insurance broker to find one in your budget. It may actually be cheaper than that health plan at your job
Wonderful as always. I find that when i hit a point where i feel i can't take it anymore I do some soul searching and use that to make plans. the hardest part is knowing if thats the right call. I gotta admit im curious how your situation was, what you did to where you went. The biggest road block to me is that large school debt (admitted not as heavy as yours was).
+Noritzu Gaming Thank you. I know it's a big topic to cover in a couple of a minutes, but hopefully you gained some helpful insight. In a nutshell, I was working for a communications company, left there- started nannying in the interim and after some soul searching realized i wanted to be a life coach- helping young people avoid the same mistakes I made in HS, college and afterwards. The debt IS a hard one to swallow!! For me, I simply trusted (and continue to trust) that by following my passion, all of my sacrifice (and debt) will come back to me ten fold. And to be honest, my happiness level on a daily basis is a reward in itself. Sure, I have a lot of regrets, but without them, I wouldn't be able to do what I'm doing now.
+Shaina Leis it definitely takes some soul searching. I became a nurse because I like working with people and enjoy helping people. That hasn't changed but the nursing aspect has been hard to swallow (3 years between 2 areas of nursing). Part of me wonders if i should look at a field change or a career change (the company I'm with is amazing but I just don't enjoy the work itself). And if I do change careers the hard part is finding something that equals my income as I'm the soul provider for what will be a family of four soon, and they shouldn't have to suffer for my piece of mind. Gonna take some continued soul searching.
+Noritzu Gaming Such a good point you make when you mention field change versus career change....two very different possibilities to look at. A lot of people assume it's their job in its entirety, but if they take a closer look, they find that it's just the environment they don't enjoy, but actually really like the tasks, and so forth. It's a puzzle and it sounds like you're on the right track. You will figure it out!! Don't give up : )
Really enjoyed viewing your video. The last 15 months of my 26 year career have been very difficult for me. In the last 15 months, I've been laid off twice and am working at a job that I am so underpaid and have to drive 66 miles a day and pay 4 tolls to make a living. Looking for a change of scenery and have applied to a company that is out of state and in the country. They've invited me down for a visit ( I live in Illinois, the job is in Missouri) Wish me luck.
Sorry to hear about all the obstacles...but you can definitely learn a lot from all these different jobs as far as what you want moving forward. Keep your wants and non-negotiables in mind as you explore the opportunity in Missouri. Good luck!!!
Your words and contents are just so helping me. I really need to think about myself about a career. I feel so lost in my current work place. I love my work. I am a developer and I love language and technologies but where I work I don't find any positive vibes, not a good environment, they don't value work and my list is go on and on. I really need to come out from this work place. But I have a bond of 18 months. I am feeling lost from almost 6 months now. I feel Monday blues. I feel depressed. I don't find any inspiration near by me. I want to quit my work place but not what I do.
It sounds like you do know what to do. YOUR story that's keeping you stuck is: But I have a bond of 18 months. You must question that story, dissect it and change it if you want to change your circumstances. No harm in looking around for a different work environment while you're still there!
Shaina Leis I have told to the CEO of the company what exactly I felt. But I said in a good manner and kind words. No harm to each of us. He agreed with my set of words. He said give us 1 month. You support us for 1 month. You are allowed to go then. I am kind a so relaxed now. No torture anymore. No trapped feeling. I know life is not that easy but at least I will have to give answers of my mistake only. I will learn by my mistake. I don't want to pay for others mistake. Thanks for your reply. It means a lot.
I’m so jealous of you because you are doing exactly what I wish I was doing and crushing it! I wanna be a life coach and help people, but much of my time is taken by a stupid soul sucking job right now. But if I ever want to help people like you do I’ll have to get a positive mindset about everything. So rather than be jealous I’m going to take your advice and find solutions to my obstacles. I’m going to learn to be happy where I am at in the meantime. Probably watch some more of your videos to learn your wisdom, and also be super happy for you because you seem like a wonderful person who deserves a blessed life. And congrats on getting published in Oprah mag what? That’s crazy! Is that because you studied with Martha Beck? I always read her articles in Oprah’s magazine. That’s a great accomplishment for you to be proud of .
Thank you for your kind words. Life coaching is such an amazing career! My advice to you is to keep doing your own self-discovery work everyday. Get to know yourself in the deepest way possible. Read self-help books. Continue to follow people you admire, but find your own unique niche within the coaching field!
My guess is the biggest reason why people are trapped in a bad job is that they have dependent family, typically children and/or a dependent wife. For a lot of people it's a financial problem. If you're living paycheck to paycheck and your job is "good enough" then it's easy to fall into the trap of just forcing yourself to maintain the status quo.
We all have different career mindsets that keep us stuck. Knowing of which you have is everything! Once that awareness is there, you can then choose to think different thoughts that will drive a different action
Hi Shaina, I hate my job. And I hate to say it, but I don't think I would like any job. I'm saving ALL that I can for early retirement. I earn a relatively high amount but I'm worked extremely hard. All I can do is apply for jobs elsewhere that are the same field, but will likely either pay more or have a better work/life balance but the same pay and also have management that doesn't piss me off as much. Having said all that, even with working on the soon exit strategy (under 2 years) getting another job and the more long term exit strategy (5-8 years) of early retirement, I still feel absolutely horrible. I'm not sure what to do.
Hey there! I don't believe for a second that there's no job you'd like. And actually I don't love the term "job." Sounds like you haven't found your sweet spot- where your greatest strength meets your greatest passion! When you find this, the work you go is less of a job and more like a lifestyle. I think you need to decide what you value- working a job you hate for a future moment of happiness that may not even happen ? Or live in the present and make positive changes now to ensure a positive future?! Make sure you're on my email list- I'm releasing a new project that you could absolutely benefit from!!!
Hi Shaina, Believe me, I've done a lot of soul searching on this issue. I remember when I was a kid and people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I had no idea and even then it scared the daylights out of me that I wasn't sure what the hell I was going to do 25 or 30 years ago (I'm in my 30s now). I graduated undergrad with no idea what I was going to do when I left. I did some stuff in my field along with some crappy jobs too (I also worked crappy jobs in high school and college as well). I lost my only "good" job during the great recession and I went to graduate school. This time it was with a plan to get further into my field and something I was actually good at. However while I've realized I'm good at my job with good performance reviews and all that stuff I don't like this. I thought I would after having done a lot of crappy jobs and the one job before the recession that I got paid well at but also didn't like. I've taken a lot of tests for "what kind of job would fit me best" and I get various results. They're relatively consistent, but nothing appeals to me. I've also tried to read about jobs as much as I can, from forest ranger to secretary and I don't think I would be interested in any of that. Especially not as an employee. Some stuff I like doing as hobbies that could be done as work, I suppose, but with all the rules and regulations as an employee I wouldn't want to do them for a salary. I guess I'm just a pretty free spirit and I absolutely cannot wait until I've accumulated enough money to pull the plug on my career. I mean, I'd love to hear suggestions but there has to be more than just find "where your greatest strength meets your greatest passion". How do I specifically find that? And hell, my current job is even something people predicted I would do when I grew up or people thought I liked / would like doing it, but it's just "meh". I can't stand it any longer, but I think I'd feel just as bad or likely far worse if I went back to some old job I did in the past. As far as a future moment of happiness vs today, well, if that moment happens I'll be fine. If that future moment of happiness doesn't happen, well, I won't be around to be upset about it. If I can retire in 5-8 years I'll only be in my early-mid 40s and based on my general health and genetics I suspect I'll be around until I'm nearly 100 (long lived relatives).
+Shaina Leis can I email you....ask for u advices, u video really help me sooo much.wish I can talk to y.wish u had a talk show...u are great.so inspired person.so out going.Rosa Toledo.u are so awesome...can't wait....next video..... lol
I hate my job so much. We don't get any breaks at all. Every time I'm off my coworkers call and ask me to cover their shift. I just hate it so much and I'm so close to just telling everyone to fuck off and quitting
My job doesnt give over time and its retail in optical. The pay isn't the best and they take away any type of commission twice a year leaving me with two low checks, so I have to adjust my life around the company not wanting to give me my spiffs that I earn from selling. I realized I hated my job when I realized I was actually afraid of my manager. You shouldn't be afraid of anyone who you work with as well as there is a lack of communication about company changes because no one does a morning huddle or a noon huddle, there's just no huddles. They're cross training me for the doctors side which ironically enough they get more commission then the retail people do. I'm just done, my previous employee just refused to hire me full time but I got all the hours I could from one week being 50 to another going down to 15 and that's why I left the place I was to be where I am now and I hate it lol. If I could take the willingness of giving overtime and not getting none commission checks twice and year and be full time without having to physically see people. I'm down and that's what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the video. I hate my job. There are more cons than pros. I work in healthcare just started 2 years ago and I’m already burnt out, I can’t see myself doing this til I retire. If I made a little more it wouldn’t be so bad, but at my hospital we’re constantly understaffed. If they have extra people in the dept, instead of letting us have an easy day, they send someone home. Plus I work all night shift to make a little more being a fairly new grad. The anxiety thinking about work everyday is unbearable.
My first job out of college was similar to that environment so I get it. Sorry that you're going through this. But just know that you deserve to do something much better- knowing that along with the a strong desire for change will keep you motivated to find a way out!!
Shaina Leis I feel like people at my job are constantly nitpicking and bullying me about any little thing I do wrong, or fumble with. I came home crying 2 days ago, sent out about 10 job applications, hoping to get the hell out of here and go back to school.
If my parachute was attached to anyone who could pay for my life I’d jump immediately howevs seeing as I am from the poors I gotta stay while simultaneously make my go plan. Story of my lyfe! Whatever I do, do fifteen hundred other things too. I got personal growth in spades, ACEs actually, I want freedom too. I just wanted to build on this moment. xo
I do dislike my job but on a different level compared to maybe most people. The pay and benefits are too good and i feel everyone at this company is over paid for the amount of work we do. However, I feel i didn't need to go to school for this type of work and im not going to grow or gain anymore knowledge at this company. I tend to like jobs where im moving and different task frequently which i am not doing here. I also dislike most the people there but only because they talk so much about others and in a negative way. Lately i just do my time and go home while keeping my eyes open for something that might spark my interest in a similar field.
hey there. I hear ya! As humans, we're built to be challenged by the tasks we're performing. So if we're bored, we aren't growing. I LOVE your level of awareness on this. This alone will take you far. Don't settle until you've found the work you're meant to do. Lots of videos on my channel to help guide you
I know this will sound ridiculous but I am terrified of change. I desperately want to leave my job I've applied everywhere. Absolutely hate where I work but I don't know what I would like to do and everything that people have suggested either terrify me more, I already applied for, or involve going back to school and let's just say that's not really an option. Help!!!!
Hey Lindsey. I suggest that you flip your thinking around and question it. In other words, what's scary about not making a change? What's scary about staying exactly where you are?
Sadly, I can't cut my hours back because that's the problem. Mandatory overtime. When I was hired it was a 40 hour a week job, now it's a 48 hour a week job with no end in sight, and they're not hiring anyone. I don't mind the work itself, but I value having a life outside of work, and no matter how hard we work, we never get close to getting caught up. Of course, that's a good opportunity for me, because it lets me know I can get a job doing the exact same thing, as long as the new job doesn't rely on mandatory overtime for nine months on end.
Hey there! Sounds like you're a little torn. I always like to think of what I value first and foremost. If free time/ time to socialize is your #1, it'll probably benefit you to just start gathering information and planning what your next move could be.
I like my job, it can be relaxing at times. The only down fall is the fact that a coworker of mine recently gotten married to my manager's nephew. She's also a big gossip power house throughout the work place and if she dont like you, she'll do anything to hurt your employment I feel because she bullied this other co worker and made her miserable until she quit. Now lately I've been experiencing hiccups and unfair interactions with her at work and feel really threatened with my employment there. I've brought it up to my manager's (her uncle) attention but he said that "life is unfair". Basically telling me that theres nothing he nor I can do to stop her and letting it happen. (Am I crazy for thinking this??) Which I think is complete bullshit I think. Over all I'm planning on looking for another job mean while I'm trying my best to stay positive a this job for as long as I can... (:
Hey! Thanks for watching and commenting. I definitely suggest cleaning up the story around your job, co-workers, etc. It's very involved and dramatic. I don't think "am I crazy for thinking this?" is the best question here. The best question is: Is it useful to continue to thinking all these things?
The reality is the majority of people have a job which is bearable, not a career. Unless you're extremely driven or born with wealthy parents your options are limited and you're stuck in a job which is tolerable at best.
YES! This is SO where I'm at! But I'm definitely one of those Have-15-Parachutes-Lined-Up types :) In the process of trying to stick out my job, I actually realized that I LOVE some of my job duties and I really excel at them. What I don't like are some of the more menial tasks, conflict resolution around the office and my pay. I realize that a lot of the conflict resolution issues I was having was actually just that I was being a doormat and my coworkers were bullying me. Once I started being more assertive and not taking anyone's BS, I definitely caused more issues at first but things are calming down. I also realized that my pay isn't NECESSARILY the problem. I live in an area with an incredibly high cost of living and my rent is well over half my income. On top of it all, I just really hate my neighborhood and my apartment. And I hate that I work so hard just to pay for it. Anyway, identifying not just what I hate about my job but WHY I hate it so much has really helped me be a much better employee. And now I know I want to look for a new position 1) out of the area; 2) that utilize my skills that I really enjoy. Anyway, I need to write down all these steps and dig deeper. Thanks so much!
Hey Cheyanne. First of all, thanks for watching. Second of all, YAY! It sounds like you've gained some really important clarity around your job. You should be proud of this. Most people don't take the time to dive in and identify the real problems. You're definitely on your way to creating a more ideal work situation for the future. Thanks for sharing and please keep me posted! Your perfect scenario is out there and you're getting one step closer to finding it : )
Feeling like I can never better it , I feel like they put me a low value feeling insecure afraid that people will take my position I’m hopeless about it I have been with my job 12 years
There's always a way out Lindsey. The first thing you've gotta change is your attitude about it. When we feel hopeless about a situation, we do NOT take action to change it.
I've come to realize that I cannot have a job that makes me stand for 4 or more hours straight. I have 2 bachelor's degrees but still can't find one that let's me sit for a while.
Interesting- I had the exact opposite problem haha. Anyway, that's very good information to know on your end...it's through getting to know all the things we don't want, that we come to figure out what we do want!
That thinking will have you stuck for the rest of your life, for sure! You must work on your self confidence first and foremost...I have a playlist dedicated to it!
It'd be nice to do my work from home. Lol I'm a security guard so when all of everyone is at a casino having so much fun getting drunk playing slots winning money I'm standing off to the side at a podium watching people win money. Alot of money, enough money to pay my bills for at least 2 months. Then a drunk guy shows up and starts harassing women or a fight starts and I have to break it up.... It's a chill job at times and then it's not so chill in a heartbeat
Can you name the song playing in the background? Not your intro song where you introduce yourself. The music that’s playing in the background throughout the video. Its beautiful and I’ve been trying to find it for a while
Hey Shaina, i heard lot of people saying if we dont love what we do we cont succeed in our of life because we are hating it some point or other. It make me little bit scared because i want a life where i can able to achieve success and show who am to the world as well as to my girl friend. I currently directing short films. I want your honest opinion on this. Hope i will get reply with proper solution

Guys help!! I am 16 years old and I just got my first job at Subway about a week ago. My first day was okay but then it was all down hill from there. My boss is a Bitch and never lets me have a break. I literally worked an 8 hour shift my first day and she wouldn’t let me even get water then when I went to the bathroom she glared at me. We just got our schedules for the next two weeks and she has me working 5-6 days a week for 6 hours a day. I don’t mean to sound stuck up but I don’t really need a job. I am 16. I just finished my junior year. I just wanted a few days a week to have some extra pocket change. It’s is many of my close friends and family’s last summers home before they go to college and I have already missed two birthdays and I am going to miss a trip we planed next week not to mention all of the things I haven’t got my schedule for yet. So my question is what do I do. My parents are really excited that I got my first job and I don’t want to let them down and my work is really short on people so I don’t want to leave them with another person down. But I don’t want to miss all of my final summer memories and I don’t know if I can stand this job anymore. I literally care home crying one day. Please send advise. Anything helps!!
A very common obstacles. Check out my video titled, "How to Tell Family and Friends You're Changing Career Paths." There should be some helpful tips in there.
I hate my job I feel like it's not something I want to do it's more of a mans job I'm working in a hot warehouse and they recently cut my hours which is fine more time for me but the days are still exhausting I'm working two jobs and it's still not enough I'm in debt and I have to come to work like everything is fine and deal with shirt people I feel so sad
Sorry to hear this...I suggest you put your problem solver "hat" on- gathering information, exploring other options, reach out to people you know...start taking action to get a different job! Life's too short.
Legit just got a part time job 2 weeks ago. One of the employers is making my life hell. He is deliberately trying to get me to give in so he can get more shifts. Dont know what to do..... im a kitchen hand btw.
I can but the other employers give him authority even though he isn't a manager. So I feel if I tell my boss they wont do much about it. He even has the head Chef on his side so its hard for me to do anything really.
I guess you'll never really know until you try. If I were you, I would brainstorm and jot down all my possible solutions to this problem and go from there.
Tell us what the consequences were to you quitting? What did you end up doing? Or are you becoming successful at telling people what to do to be successful like Anthony Robbins?
I like what you’re saying but let’s be realistic...how many people that comment on your page actually have kids? I have kids which is a huge responsibility and doing what I would love to do does not and will not put food in their mouths. So, I do what I love to do on the side but maintain and hold down a full time cooperate America job. If I had no kids or responsibilities I would quit in a heartbeat though 😁
You quit your job. But didn't you have the courtesy to give a 2 weeks notice? Not a good idea at all. And is this video for guys only? You keep saying guys.
Yup, I gave my two week notice, but they just paid me for the full two weeks and let me leave. Lots of corporate jobs do that. It's not that uncommon to say "guys"
It's fifteen years since I walked out of an IT job. I became a lot poorer, but a lot happier.
That's awsomse, good to hear.
I want to leave my job. I dont like my manager and dread going to work.
I'm sorry to hear that- not a fun situation to be in! Sounds like you may need to start planning your next move...
Dave Jesus! This sounds exactly like the position I am in now. How is it going so far?
So where are you now ?
Dave this sounds so much like me ! I trust nobody at my job everyone talks badly about others and think that they are better then you it's not worth it for the pay where are you now tho?
i feel ya Dave
Sounds rough, I am in a similar situation dread Mondays...
Loved doing that video with Tina- she's great! Yes, please do. Love getting to know all of you guys. Talk soon! xo
Also, not sure if you listen to my new podcast, but I'm going to use this comment to illustrate an important point. Episode #20!
Shaina Leis Awesome! I can’t wait to listen to your podcast! I will subscribe now!
Kristen Marie LETS HOPE that this Halloween is much better!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent advice. Quitting out of the blue must've been the best day ever! I love that you made plans and lined things up first, and then just jumped. I also like your idea of writing down all of your obstacles and then generating solutions. I'm going to do this for multiple areas of my life this week. Thank you!
+Mermaid's Reel the BEST day ever lol- felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of me : )
I bet! :)
I'm so glad it could help. Good luck girl!!
I also work at a cancerous job, they try to brainwash people into thinking it's the best place to work but seeing the inside of the organization you can see how evil it is...I'm working toward a way out but it's tough in the meantime coming to something that you hate everyday...
But possible! :)
Totally possible. Just keep working toward a solution and asking for guidance...you'll get there!
Shaina Leis thanks, yeah I have a plan in place because complaining and doing nothing wasnt working....surprise surprise ! So now getting to the point I want to is going to take a few years so gonna have to make the best with what I have now until I'm ready to move on.
Love your change in attitude and mindset. Rooting for you!
I'm just seeing this (sometimes I don't get notifications for "replys"). Anyway, I am curious to know how you made out?
I now have come to completely hate my job and dread going to work, my mom keeps telling me "You make good money and will afford many things." But I value happiness over money, now I find myself not eating as much on my lunch break because of all this and I even prayed to God to get me out of there. I have been guilt-tripped, I have felt worthless, and my co-worker dropped a hard piece of insulation on my head and gave me no warnings whatsoever.
Here I am unemployed and don't know what to do with my life😭😭😭😭😭.But your videos are amazing,I am glad that I found your channel.
It all starts and ends with what's going on in your mind- change your mind, change your life 🙌🏻
Nice advice , I will definitely quit my job if i ever got one !
Awesome! Enjoy the channel :) thanks for subscribing!
Great to find you Shaina . subscribed ! good advice
Thank you! and welcome : )
I've been the type who jump ship and it doesn't work for me. I become over confident and try to freelance. I'm just not there yet. I have a game plan and my job is close in proximity. I'm going to write with you... thank you sooo much!
You're welcome!
I'm so glad Darci! Awareness is always the first step 😉
I love this and actually quit my soul sucking job. Thank you!
Ahhh congrats! And thanks for watching :)
I also love the “check in with yourself” right now idea! I’m going to do many self check ins through out the day! :)
It is a great little practice, keep us posted!
I found you in right timing and this video is especially helpful and one for me😢😍✨
Isn't it great when we find exactly what we need at the right time?
Thank you for this video. Feeling stuck in my current job situation. This really helped.
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
Great vid Shaina!
I value freedom more than financial stability as well!!!
It's good information to know :)
Why is this so on point!!! I literally wrote this on paper earlier before I listened to this video!
I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this video. Loved it :) P.S. What Oprah magazine issue were you featured in?
glad you liked it : ) It was a few years ago...in a March issue of O!
Of course! And thanks for the update.
God I needed to hear everything you just said. Thank you!
You're very welcome 😉
Great video! I needed a pep talk
Thank you! Happy it could help Chantell :)
Hi Shaina,
I hate my job.
Hi Shaina,
Believe me, I've done a lot of soul searching on this issue.
I can't thank you enough for this ❤
Happy you found it helpful ❤️❤️❤️
+Shaina Leis can I email you....ask for u advices, u video really help me sooo much.wish I can talk to y.wish u had a talk show...u are great.so inspired person.so out going.Rosa Toledo.u are so awesome...can't wait....next video..... lol
I hate my job so much. We don't get any breaks at all. Every time I'm off my coworkers call and ask me to cover their shift. I just hate it so much and I'm so close to just telling everyone to fuck off and quitting
I know the feeling. What about creating a boundary with your co-workers? Brainstorm ways to better your job situation with the facts at hand first.
What if you hate every job and any work?
Thank you for this vid. I’m a software developer stuck in a very toxic place.
You're welcome...related videos in the works for after the New Year!
I just wanted to build on this moment. xo
This has been fantastic advice!! Thanks
Great! And you're welcome :)
Lots of videos on my channel to help guide you
Thanks for video, I admit a lot of the time wish I can just walk out my current employment and do something I enjoy.
Never too late to figure out what kind of work you enjoy! You don't need to quit your job to do some exploring
Omg so helpful!
Awesome!
thank you
You're welcome!
Great advice!
Thank you!
What's scary about staying exactly where you are?
awesome vid :) thank you for sharing
You're welcome 😀
Your a great person. Thank you.
Well thank youuuuu
@@ShainaLeis hey, thanks for replying and giving me feedback. I definitely will take your advise.
I kinda like my job it’s just that I don’t want to go I just want to stay home sleep so what should I do to fix this and actually want to go to work??
You need to find something else that's exciting and makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning!
Thank you!!
You're welcome : ) thanks for watching!
The reality is the majority of people have a job which is bearable, not a career. Unless you're extremely driven or born with wealthy parents your options are limited and you're stuck in a job which is tolerable at best.
I always see that as a blessing. Why not use our misfortunes or messy circumstances as motivation to do and be better?
YES! This is SO where I'm at! But I'm definitely one of those Have-15-Parachutes-Lined-Up types :)
In the process of trying to stick out my job, I actually realized that I LOVE some of my job duties and I really excel at them.
Your perfect scenario is out there and you're getting one step closer to finding it : )
if pay is low enough that you're spending half on rent.. pay IS a problem! the workforce screws us in every way possible.
THANK.YOU. ❤️
You're welcome :)
This helped a lot thanks , I find what stops me is I can not spell well so it holds me back big time .. stuck a cleaner for the rest of my life
That thinking will have you stuck for the rest of your life, for sure!
🤔Interesting job and observations you have! So working from home is the dream for you 🙌🏻
great job.
Thank you ☺️
Can you name the song playing in the background? Not your intro song where you introduce yourself. The music that’s playing in the background throughout the video. Its beautiful and I’ve been trying to find it for a while
Hey Arianna...it's Water Lily on the youtube music library :)
Shaina Leis oh wow! Thank you so much. I really appreciate it :):):) I love your videos by the way. You’re a very inspiring individual :)
You're very welcome! and thanks so much for the kind words 😘

Sounds to me like you already know what YOU want, but you're letting the opinions of your parents get in the way. Do you!
Quit your job after the summer is over. You shouldn't have to work during the school year. School is your full-time job.
nah I just left my job, I'm way too exhausted and not a moment to think about what I want to do.
If you need a break from figuring it out, take a break then! Trying to force anything, never works!
What if you have family on your back?
A very common obstacles. Check out my video titled, "How to Tell Family and Friends You're Changing Career Paths." There should be some helpful tips in there.
Dime piece!
😝
Work jobs we hate to buy shit we don't need to impress people we don't like
I hate my job I feel like it's not something I want to do it's more of a mans job I'm working in a hot warehouse and they recently cut my hours which is fine more time for me but the days are still exhausting I'm working two jobs and it's still not enough I'm in debt and I have to come to work like everything is fine and deal with shirt people I feel so sad
Sorry to hear this...I suggest you put your problem solver "hat" on- gathering information, exploring other options, reach out to people you know...start taking action to get a different job! Life's too short.
Sorry, to hear that hang in there.
I just love you. 😍
😊 luv ya too!
Legit just got a part time job 2 weeks ago. One of the employers is making my life hell. He is deliberately trying to get me to give in so he can get more shifts. Dont know what to do..... im a kitchen hand btw.
Definitely need to do some problem solving! Can you talk to your boss or other authority figure?
I can but the other employers give him authority even though he isn't a manager. So I feel if I tell my boss they wont do much about it. He even has the head Chef on his side so its hard for me to do anything really.
I guess you'll never really know until you try. If I were you, I would brainstorm and jot down all my possible solutions to this problem and go from there.
Tell us what the consequences were to you quitting? What did you end up doing? Or are you becoming successful at telling people what to do to be successful like Anthony Robbins?
I have other videos that tell the whole story!
I like her she a hoot!
Ha thanks!
No Help!
Thanks for watching! You should watch my video “I Hate My Job But Can’t Quit”!!
Are you single?
I'm not married, but do have a a boyfriend! That question can be confusing sometimes 😆
Cute video
Thanks so much!
