You are correct, Gahyeon was not part of Minx. She only trained for two months in S Korea before debuting with DreamCatcher (that's why she was talking about relying on her looks in that one clip). I think she did train while she was in school before she knew she would debut in DC. Gahyeon is highly intelligent and still picks things up very quickly as if she is still an information sponge like any infant/ toddler. It's AWESOME! She takes the best facets of the other members and tries to learn how they do things. She's going to be a real heartbreaker when the group finally disbands (but according to all the members, they don't ever want to disband, they want to stay together forever). Can't help but to love her. I am OT7 though, no bias because they are ALL my bias (which obviously cancels out the idea of a single favorite). This is my Ult K-Pop group.
she was a trainee for 6 months and debuted in Dreamcatcher. she was 18 then, still in school. so i assume she had some struggles back then esp with singing and dancing. she has the talent but she was not trained enough. and she also had weight management issue. you can see it during their debut. she was a bit chubby and her singing was not really impressive. but she has improved a lot as you can see now. she has the right mindset from the beginning. and she has her unnies to take care of her, so she was not alone. she will be forever cute and adorable.
It's good to know she was able to put in the work to get the the incredible voice she has now. One of the things I like about how South Korea does media is actually training people instead of relying only on natural skills. It's an investment in arts that North America doesn't have really
@@AntiSocialPlanet As someone who watches a lot of sports, Kpop feels more like that then the N American music industry. Labels try to have the trainees ready when they reach the big leagues and the groups have to be in dorms practicing and working on teamwork all the time.
A fun tidbit about Gahyeon, in an interview Dreamcatcher did with IHeartRadio a couple months ago they had a question regarding how they deal with negative comments IIRC and this was Gahyeon's response to it; "There is no need to try and make those who don't like me to like me. Just treat people well" I believe that she did used to be affected by negative comments early on in her career. But as you could tell from the quote, she has learned to not pay them any attention and just have a positive mindset.
It's funny because Gahyeon hates being called cute, but then everything about her makes it impossible to think otherwise. I believe she recently had said that the only time it was ok to call her cute was in the video for Playground, so you do have that to look forward to 😁

Gahyeon's official height is 160cm, but she seems like she has outgrown Sua a bit (whose official height is like, 162cm lol). And yes! That was Gahyeon in Totoro onesies! The knife headband was from Dreamcatcher Mind episode where they played real life Among Us. Very entertaining to watch!! You should watch the whole series if you have time.

I still think she is only about 5' 3". I totally get about being short; I am a guy from the U.S, and I did not quite reach 5' 6", I missed it by half an inch (5', 5.5"/ 166.37cm according to the calculator's conversion function). Last I heard, the 'average' height for men here is said to be 5' 9" (175.26cm). I really HATE being short because it only added to my other problems; I got bullied plenty for having been SCRAWNY as well, literally a lightweight that could not fight back. AND having giant-thick glasses does not do me any favors either. FML. lol

She was actually 17 (international) at debut and turned 18 three weeks later.
