Tackling does come with strength, which by proxy makes size a factor. Technique and attitude come before size and strength, agreed.
I see Mikey Sanstril having an immediate impact as a slot/nickel defender and eventually will be able to play outside as well against certain sized receivers. I think he'll adapt to the NFL quickly and be a great addition to a defense that looks majorly improved on paper.

@@FinesseL Yep! Outside of Jayden Daniels. The times I saw Michigan, #0 flew off my tv screen. Him, Frankie Luvu and Jeremy Chinn play with their hair on fire. Then, Bobby Wagner on top of that. We should have a top-5 defense for sure.

Jahan Dotson, Emmanuel Forbes, and now this guy makes sense. They passed on a large first round corner for a diminutive slot corner. He's perfect in Michigan's defense, but we'll see how his physical limitations translate. He's not a burner, for sure. 2nd round was rather high, but then it's the Commanders.
Great video. Love the Mike S pick. I honestly wasn't worried about his tackling ability until I watched this video about how we shouldn't be worried. No doubt he has the heart but in most of the highlights you showed the technique isn't there. I like how he breaks down(although it isn't quite traditional) but he doesn't wrap up properly. Again, just going off your clips, most of the time he's going for the big hit and NFL players are going to shrug a lot of those off. Even when he is trying to wrap up, even though it works, it looks crazy/undisciplined and I don't know if that will work at the NFL level. All that COMBINED with his size is making me second guess his tackling prowess, currently. But I'm not stressin it because he has the heart of a champion. If guys are breaking away from him in the league, he will put in the work to clean that up. We just might have to give him some grace to start the year while he figures it out.
Extremely fluid getting around blocks and breaking down for the tackle. Fluid is a word overly used for athletes but it fits Mikey perfectly. He's not squaring up his opponent, he's staying fluid to keep leverage and come in from the correct angle.
