@@GalacticHorrors This would make a great movie. The antithesis of most movie plots.

I can’t help thinking an arm is more useful than a blade. The soldier now has to do every task with only one arm. Not a well thought out addition to the story. When men had their limbs amputated without anaesthetic, they didn’t die from blood loss, they died from shock due to the pain. That’s why they had to do it quick. So all these soldiers would have died on the operating table. You need to get certain aspects of far-fetched stories right if you want to maintain the suspension of disbelief.

Agreed. The major structural modifications seem to be too specific to be all that useful and causing more problems than the capabilities they might enhance.

@paullee3660 You make a good point about the practicality of an arm vs. a blade. To clarify, the protagonist did undergo the operation without general anesthesia, so they weren't unconscious, but they did receive local anesthesia to numb the area and lessen the pain. I might not have made that clear enough, and I appreciate your bringing it up. About the blade arm, you're probably onto something-it might not be the most practical upgrade. But I aim to entertain with my stories, and sometimes that means stretching the bounds of reality a bit.

@@GalacticHorrors to be fair, the concept of the story was brilliant. I was probably being a bit picky about the details.

I appreciate your stories. Some of the other channels has “humanity/military” as this “love fest.” I think about how our present drone operators blow up wedding parties/families without repercussions. Nothing pretty or patriotic.
