Another wonderful Sunday session. I am a life long whistler and have great fun whistling along with the majority or your tunes, creating arrangements of my own as I go. What fun! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon, USA) West
Well Lionel, after listening to you all these Sundays, I purchased a Yamaha Genos a few weeks ago inspired by the sounds on your Tyros. I should have done it years ago! Thanks for the music and may we be treated to many more. Regards Dean from Derby.
what a 'legend' only now fell across this video by accident and must say Im well impressed, nice one lionel you have another subscriber I just love this off the cuff vibe its how I have played for many years but never got round to playing with an audience let alone make a youtube video it takes dedication and motivation both that I do not poses, thanks for the tunes my new friend
Nice playing Lionel,it’s nice to have a new keyboard but be careful, not the easiest to change after so long.if possible try before you buy.whatever keep playing, thanks Roy.
Hello Lionel - another entertaining session. I just want to give some attention to your question about changing instruments. I think I’ve touched on this before so forgive me for perhaps being repetitive. I would say, be very careful before parting with around £2,000 for the latest modern miracle from Yamaha. I notice one subscriber advises try before you buy. I know that probably isn’t possible in your situation. Unless you can find a dealer to loan you a demonstration model and I once had this luxury with a Genos 1. I decided against as there were too many unfamiliar functions having had an early Tyros. You must remember since your Tyros 1 there has been the 2,3,4 and 5 plus 2 Genos models with also the latest scaled down Genos - SX 900 and now 920. You may enjoy a winter project of getting a new model to perform how you want it. I’m reluctant to say don’t do it but proceed with caution. The pro players and demonstrators are very clever and persuasive as they ‘know’ these instruments inside out and have travelled through all of the models. Best wishes
Thanks, David. I've taken it on board. Of course, an option is to not part exchange. Which I often did with my organ purchases. I often had one in situ at a summer season hotel gig. The other one used for the varied work. I do appreciate your input.
@@lionel177 Yes, that’s a good point Lionel. No need to part with Tyros 1 - you probably wouldn’t get much for it anyway. I felt reluctant to make my comment as it sounds that I’m trying to put you off the SX 920. I would never want to prevent you enjoying the latest technology which I’m sure you would find interesting. If you can afford it perhaps you should just ‘go for it’. A good winter project. Best wishes - I think the 920 is under £2000 from EPianos of Banbury - I’m not on commission Ha,ha.
It’s me again Lionel - I meant to say, and you probably know this, you can alter that split point to give you an extra note or two in the right hand. I think you need to go into the utility section. However, you may find then it may not suit the left hand. Worth a try - can be frustrating but that’s single keyboards for you.
Yes, David. I'm so used to the split point being where it is that I can't be bothered to change it. I think I get around the problem well enough to make it my version. Wrong notes are improvisations. Messed-up bits are bridges. 🤣🤣
@@lionel177 I know what you mean Lionel - sometimes it’s more hassle to change than to learn to adapt. It’s only the occasional tune that might catch us out. I’m sure you know how to get over it.
Well done and thank you.
Thank you for another entertaining evening, Lionel.

Actually, Nick, as a young teenager, I used to do the same when at work. Nobody ever complained, thankfully.

That's wonderful to hear. Keep informed how it goes. I'm here for any of my own tips on keyboards.
