These layoffs need to be made national news. They aren't the first frontline employee layoffs they've done in the last year. FedEx is going to keep doing this very slowly all around the US to keep it in the local news only.

I was an Express employee for 41 years. When the company obtained RPS Express and changed their name to FedEx Ground the crap started. It’s taken this long but now that the founder is no longer involved, his son and the current CEO are running this once great company into the ground. The have absolutely no concern for their hourly employees like they used to have. So glad I retired and got out when I did.

      Corporate won’t allow it.
      That’s why Spencer Patton left.
Corporate wants all the control without any responsibility.
So they setup the company as a Pyramid Scheme forcing Drivers into the Subcontractor model.
This way they only have to control the Contractors, not have to worry about Taxes, labor laws or lawsuits for sub contractors…
      It is a Pyramid Scheme.

I WORKED at Punta gorda express site. We heard this rumor at the start of 2023 with no actual news from the higher-ups. The station started losing drivers fast just from the rumors at least 3 drivers a month. We all saw the writing on the wall. All our vehicles were being swapped out with rental vans and gave zip code areas to the ground station down the road. I left after news years. It's better to look for another job before this happened. Now all my co-workers are truly terrified. At this point the only option is find another and quit the day you ready. They don't deserve 2 weeks notice.

Remember when you ship something that FedEx wants nothing to do with people having a good job and retirement. They pay a few contractors/ISP's good but the majority are money pits that entrepreneurs get suckered into massive debt to obtain and they have no issue screwing contractors out of their contract and control who they can sell the contract to. Drivers are screwed the most, usually hustling for not much more than minimum wage with no benefits. Express was a good job but FedEx is doing away with it. Last week at UPS I grossed $2740 in just under 51.5 hours. I can net $1200 in a three day work week. Yeah, we are more expensive but our drivers can contribute to the economy instead of living in their parents basement. Yeah, I contracted for FedEx for over a decade so I know the deal.
