My money's on both. On the one hand, the MBTI test results reek strongly of the Forer effect, which is the same thing that horoscopes and fortune tellers use, and the test is unlikely to be any more accurate than your average "Which MCU/Danganronpa/Game of Thrones/My Hero Academia/etc. character are you?" test. On the other hand, the 'you' the internet knows is only what you're showing the public, intentionally or otherwise, and is nowhere near a complete picture of who you are, but people on the internet often have trouble acknowledging parasocial relationships for what they are, so they think they see the 'real' you.
honestly think a "which character are you" test is more accurate because it's aligning you with a character with already-defined personality traits and interests, whereas mbti is based off of four things that don't really mean anything substantial imo
The 16 personalities test frequently mistypes people,though it is good for narrowing down what type you may be.There was also a limited amount of votes, so there wasn’t much to go off of, but it is a bit surprising that they mistyped you that much considering how different these two types are.
That’s being generous to the test honestly. Most data suggests that out of the dichotomies only introvert/extrovert is even a meaningful distinction and that the rest are more or less horoscopic.
@@rosaevee274 I wouldn’t exactly call it horoscopic .There are plenty of other dichotomies that can be made if it is looked into more, although introvert/extrovert is one, and it can go further than just the four letters even.The description you get from mbti may be generic though, the sort of thing many including those not in the type could relate to and there’s a constant overlap.It’s sort of a Forer effect.Sometimes people even try to relate to their description more by either doing actions that align with their type or ignoring certain things that don’t align with it.There obviously aren’t only 16 types of humans in the world, so even among each of these types you’ll see very notable differences and some stereotypes that cannot be fully applied.

16personalities isn't an actual reliable way of typing because the test doesn't care about the actual theory, they just took the letters of the types and used them for their own crappy system.
The website for voting the types and the community in general are based on the actual theory of cognitive functions, there are 8 functions: Perceptive functions, Ne, Se, Ni, Si, which are the ones that are based on the collection of information and percepting the world, and Judging functions, Fi, Fe, Ti, Te, which are the one that are based on analising and judging information.
The theory goes even further, with each function having its own description and the fact that each type has 4 main functions (for example, ENTJ is Te-Ni-Se-Fi while INFP is Fi-Ne-Si-Te).
the theory itself is just that, theoretical, and changing the letters doesn't change that whether it's ENTJ, Te-Ni-Se-Fi, or Flum-Ploob-Zebi-Targa, it's all pseudoscience lol. human perception and judgement can't be narrowed down into 4 categories, 2 billion people will not have the exact same method of judgement or perception
i took the test and got intp, switched schools, and made a friend who's been hyperfixating on this stuff for years (she's rlly fun to listen to), and a while after i told her what the test said, she said "yup, intp", she's determined the personality types of almost everyone in our class by now (she's also a new student)
The 16 personality website is probably the worst place to go. It constantly mistypes people and hands anyone INFJ when that's supposed to be the most rarest type lol. There are other more accurate websites out there but I just don't currently have them on me. Once you study the cognitive functions, you'll gain a better understanding on type and how to type yourself because thats what mbti was originally based on, not this lettering crap that people focus on a surface level and forget about the functions

I personally use the cognitive functions to type myself, because what I got from the 16p test was just that my dominant function is Ni. But yeah these people literally have nothing to do

I quite like the MBTI system - although I know it’s all bullshit and you can’t really categorise people into 16 types there are some similarities which is really cool - I don’t think we should decide famous people’s mbti though since. We don’t know them, we know what they’re presenting.
there are similarities but that's because you're describing basic human traits - it would be just as, if not more accurate, to categorize everyone by which danganronpa character they're most like

Oh yeah, I'd like to mention that 16personalities doesn't use actual MBTI theory, and on PDB, characters and people mostly get typed by the actual MBTI theory which 16personalities doesn't use

I've seen so many mistypings on PDB. Those people seem to rely on stereotypes and forget the nuance of the human experience so you're not gonna fit perfectly in like an INTJ box for instance
