    Don't often comment on a video, but I felt compelled. I am a patreon supporter. Your videos have inspired and informed my own journey. I appreciate the easy going friendly nature you display. After watching this most recent one that revealed your substance abuse struggles and your now life of sobriety, I want share my similar story. I became an alcoholic as young man who didn't stop until I was past 45. I recently celebrated 17 yrs.sobriety I wouldn't have seen if good people did not help me. Life is as good as I make it and part of that is motorcycle travel,camping and adventure. Love to meet sometime on the road if you come back around New England. Let me Know.

      I'm in a similar boat. Just turned 45. Took my last drink a little over a year ago. Cliché I know, but I wish I'd quit 20 years ago. Been all over the place on my old VFR. Now on a big GS and dying to get out west. Now way I could've done this while still drinking. Congrats my friend!

    I knew you had a some kind of tech background when I watched your how-to on electrical accessories vid. Awesome story brother. You're now living a dream, one could say. I know I do. So kudos to you. The drive for true freedom will always win. I too, trained in the vehicle service trade early on (automotive) and quickly found that despite my love for autos/trucks/bikes, crawling around in shop in hopes to make my way up, wasn't what I was really about. So, I moved on also and became truck driver. I've traveled in each of 48 States over the past 15 plus years and it's been amazing. I'm local now, but the desire and excitement to explore will never leave me. And, there is certainly one endeavor that remains and that is to further see this country without the interstate system, on a bike. I drove (car) from Wisconsin to Phoenix in April and took the back way through Colorado, the beauty of that ride only motivated my passion for motorcycle travel further. The sights are amazing. I can only imagine what Yellowstone, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, etc could be like to experience on two wheels as well. So, I am drawn to vids and channels like yours as I research and prep for when the time is right to go. I definitely appreciate what you share because your info is good and very topic specific. Invaluable. So thanks for what you do and please keep the good stuff coming. Your audience definitely welcomes it. Awesome stuff.👍
    Also, 26 years sober.

    • @FTAAdventures
      @FTAAdventures  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your comment! I can relate to the shop life, truck driving seems like a better fit for someone that needs new excitement often. This country's back roads and secondary highway system is quite extensive and beautiful. Colorado is a great state, lots of good motorcycling roads. Glad you have found some value in my channel, that means a lot to me. Congrats on 26, that is truly amazing! Safe travels my friend!

I’m glad to see you were able to escape your dependency problems, and I hope you continue on your path of happiness! The circus surprised me, I didn’t see that one coming! Has been many times in my life that I found myself down in the dumps emotionally and my bike was my salvation. From pounding a trail on a dirtbike as a teenager to cranking up the wick down a long straightaway on my old Shovelhead to escape the fact that my world was crashing down around me a few years ago. I honestly have to give my bike credit for being part of what kept me alive, as well as what damn near killed me a time or two, LOL. Whether it's riding or wrenching there is definitely something therapeutic about motorcycles for those of us who get it, and there is no more immersive way to travel that I've found. I am lucky enough to have Yellowstone National Park in my backyard, so I've been through it many times, and I always tell people they can go through YNP a million times in a car, but they haven't experienced it until they've done it on a motorcycle. It's just a completely different world on 2 wheels out in the open and it has helped me clear my head of debilitating negativity many, many times. So happy to hear that same concept has kept you sober and helped you to turn your life around so that you can share your adventures with the rest of us. Congratulations and safe travels.

    • @FTAAdventures
      @FTAAdventures  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks raginredneck93. I can totally relate to that. YNP is great and I agree, there or anywhere doesn't count in a car because you just aren't getting the full experience if you aren't on a bike. I'll have to let you know the next time I am in that area, love Yellowstone, maybe we can ride through together. Thanks for the awesome comment, safe travels to you too!

    • @raginredneck93
      @raginredneck93 6 лет назад

    Wow Tim, Pretty great things to know. My family and I sold everything we owned a couple years ago and traveled the county with our truck and 5th wheel toy hauler. We brought along our bikes, and that area was one of my favorites. Acadia was gorgeous. Whats more nuts is some friends that live literally a few blocks from there took us to that park where you filmed this. They live right around the corner. We met these friends at Rawhyde in CA of all places while traveling.

    Hey Tim, I started watching your videos about 3 months ago, super impressed with the content and I enjoy your product reviews. Congrats on your sobriety. I too have been sober for a while (24 yrs) and have found riding to be a great release. I have a 98 Softail and in may purchased a 10 ultra classic. As a result of your videos I have been gearing up for adventure this summer I did the San Juan islands trip camped and island hopped, was awesome. I live outside of Portland Oregon. (Beautiful country). If you are ever out this way hit me up we have an extra room. Keep doing what your doing, it's great. One day at a time! 😃

      Thank you Jason! I really appreciate that and congrats on 24 years! That is incredible, seems a lot of sober people have found a similar affect from motorcycles. I am so glad you are gearing up for some adventures! That is a great area you live in, I love it up there and I will definitely let you know when I am in the area, would be great to ride around that area with a local! Ride safe my friend!!

    Great Video Tim. Yes it's nice to know a little bit more about you personally. I too have been sober for 24 years. Recovery is great and motorcycling has been a healthy way for me to get centered. Look forward to more videos from you and I will check out the other channels you suggested as well. I'm trading in my ducati hypermotard for a KTM endure. Let the adventures begin!

    Another great video. Congrats on 7.5 years. It's not easy. I have 3 questions, what's the biggest mechanical break down you have had to deal with? What's the most mileage you have ridden in a day and do you edit your videos while you are on the road? Keep it up I really enjoy your videos.

      Thanks Pat! I appreciate that very much. Those are 3 great questions! I would like to answer those in the monthly Q&A that I will be filming in the next few weeks. Aw man! See? I was gonna tag you in the challenge and I started looking through all our videos and thought, "Meh.. he kinda stays on 'brand'." I second-guessed myself out of it. No worries. Good video! I have to get up to Maine and Rhode Island to finish out New England. I should have hit them when I was up there. Just didn't work out that way. Should be quite the climate difference from out west, no?

      All good, that was a fun challenge, I am glad it made its way around to me. I don't blame you for thinking that, I am going to try to open up a bit more in future videos, it was nice to see the response it got. Maine is great, I love the rocky coastline up there. Very different from AZ, first when I got here it was the humidity and then it's been cold and overcast the rest of the time. Very, very different LOL. Thanks for the comment Chris!

    I would say you have a job in the motorcycle world today. I found I like refurbishing jeeps and motorcycles. Surprised you don't have a motorcycle build. Something cheap and old. Need to get working on my old wagoneer so can go up north camping come next summer. Its fits the 5 kids with the 3rd row. Looks just like the one in the movie The Great Outdoors. Planning on buying property up northern Michigan. So hopefully will get some camping and travel in next year.

      Thanks Eli! I think you might be right about that actually. I want to build a bike, it is a bucket list for sure. The problem is I am not planning on being stationary for much longer so that is on the back burner for now. The wagoneer sounds great, bet you will have some awesome adventures. northern Michigan is beautiful from what I have seen. Safe travels!
