Alot of it came down to poor promotion. In 1989 Randy Jackson , the youngest brother released a superb album in 1989 with at least 3 potential hits on it. It didn't get the recognition it deserved . Also Jermaine's solo stuff is pretty great too .

I've always had the opinion that, if these guys would have spend less time on marihuana and sex with groupies, and work their asses off training day and night, while Mike was still with them, they could've done much better, and even achieve a decent solo career. That was their choice, and now they will always be the "brothers of M.Jackson".
