Neo Arcadian: Spiketale Manticore Weapon: Jump attack, slash, air charge, tail whip, raging roar, commanding roar, artillery call EX Skill: Cannon spikes Stage: Urban Warfare Description: A mutos reploid based on the Greek mythological creature called the manticore. He appears as having a body of a lion and a tail armed with spikes that he uses to whip, or launch spikes in a catapult-like fashion in a move called Cannon Spike. Additionally, he uses his commanding roar and artillery call to summon variant soldiers (variant fire and variant missile) and artillery fire. If he is in half-health, Manticore uses his raging roar, increasing in strength and allowing him to summon stronger variant soldiers (variant claws). Manticore was once part of Neo Arcadia’s Scorched Earth Squadron, as an armored battalion squad leader until he was recruited as one of the Einherjar Warriors formed by Dr. Weil. This delighted Manticore as he was given command of a new attack group to use against not only caravan and resistance members, but renegade pantheon soldiers who were trying to resist Weil’s rule. (Intro) Jaune: The activity is coming from this urban sector. It looks like it is under intense warfare. Zero: Weil must be attacking another caravan in the city. Jaune: Could be. But it looks like they are fighting our comrades…and another resistance group. Zero: Another group? Rouge: Colbor and his team are in the sector, too. Rendezvous with them and see what information he has. (Meeting Colbor) Colbor: Zero! Good timing! Zero: Colbor, what is the situation there? Colbor: Weil’s forces are tearing the city apart. But there is something that is going on down here. Take a look. (Colbor gives Zero the binoculars; cues to cutscene of Zero looking at the close-up view of the battlefield, sees variants attacking resistance, caravan, and pantheon soldiers) Zero: Looks like heavy warfare. Weil’s forces are attacking the resistance, caravans are trapped, and…pantheon soldiers are also fighting?! Weren’t they disposed of after Weil took over? Colbor: That is what I am curious about. (Ends cutscene) Colbor: Come on, Zero! We need to help our comrades and save those trapped caravans. Rouge: Be advised! We are picking up a distress signal coming from the war zone. Colbor: We should check over there. Cover us while we move, okay? (Entering the war zone) (Zero and Colbor encounters a squad of pantheon soldiers, Colbor’s team aims their weapons on them) Pantheon 1: Do not shoot. We are here to assist the refugees. Colbor: Maybe it’s me, or was that pantheon soldier had just spoken to us. Pantheon 2: We are in a serious situation. The refugees are in danger. We must defend them…with your help. Zero: Why should we trust you? Pantheon 1: We have sent out a distress signal to the resistance. We are in dire need of help. Zero: You are the one who sent the signal? Pantheon 2: Yes. We have seen you fight long ago. Assist us in repelling Weil’s forces. Pantheon 1: Assist us in helping evacuate refugees. Colbor: Looks like they’re not kidding. What do you think, Zero? Zero: Looks like they are on our side. For now, we will help them evacuate those caravans. Colbor: I’d hoped they were, Zero. Pantheon 2: Help us locate them. (Resistance and Pantheon holdouts) Colbor: There’s our comrades. We need to help them. Pantheon 1: Agreed. We will contribute to your assistance. (Caravan and Pantheon holdouts) Pantheon 1: Hurry. We need to protect the refugees. Colbor: Come on, Zero! They need our help! (All resistance holdouts secured) Jaune: Good job, Zero, Colbor. They are fighting back now. Colbor: Great! Weil’s forces are taking a beating. (All caravan and pantheon holdouts secured) Rouge: Good work. Now the caravan can evacuate safely. Pantheon 1: The pantheon army shall assist the resistance now. (Miniboss: Golem Armor Variant) Colbor: Watch out! It’s a golem! Pantheon 1: This golem mechaniloid is heavily armored. Your attacks won’t be able to penetrate it. Pantheon 2: We will destroy the golem’s armor. Destroy it when it’s vulnerable. (Miniboss defeated) Jaune: Weil’s forces are retreating! Colbor: We did it! Wooh! Pantheon 1: It’s not over yet. You will need to defeat their commander, a member of the Einherjar Warriors: Spiketale Manticore. Pantheon 2: That mutos reploid used to be under Master Fefnir…until he joined Weil. Colbor: We’ll fallback and assist the pantheons in evacuating the caravans. You take care of their commander. Pantheon 1: Agreed! There is a settlement called Area Zero. Perhaps that would be an appropriate place for them. Pantheon 2: Go now. We will meet you in Area Zero after the evacuation. (Boss encounter) Spiketale Manticore: Raaaaarrrgh!!! (Screen scrolls up to Spiketale Manticore standing on the ledge, jumps down, and lands on stage) Spiketale Manticore: So you’re the one who has defeated my forces. I am Spiketale Manticore, one of the Einherjar Warriors under Lord Weil. Those pantheons have dared revolt against Neo Arcadia. You have faced them before, now you are helping them? How ironic it is…to see the hero of the resistance fighting alongside the pantheons like the mavericks they really are. Regardless, they’re both mavericks that need to be retired…especially you! Grrrrr! Raaaarrrrgghhh!!!! (Zero defeated) Spiketale Manticore: The hero among mavericks has retired! Our conquest continues unabated! (Spiketale Manticore defeated/bisected) Spiketale Manticore: Gwooooaaaarrrgh!!! Y-You mavericks will pay dearly for going against Weil’s rule. The battle may be over, but we know what those dissidents are heading. We will find them...when and wherever they go! (Spiketale Manticore dies)
I like this, but I've heard better. I had issues with your Falling Down remix, and I think part of that comes from the soundfont choice. Using pounding arcade riffs for a climactic boss encounter that you won't return from even if you're victorious? Doesn't really work. This one works a little better, but the sound quality is still off. GBA games in general have poor sound quality because the system didn't have a dedicated sound processor, instead forcing that data through the main CPU. I can tell you're still working on your craft, and I know a couple people that might be able to help you out. Keep at it!
This is really good
ゼロ2の爆撃機とかゼロ3のミサイルで流れてても違和感無さそう
