He played hurt and was kicked the curb by Jimmy Haslam for a 230 million dollar bust in Desaun Watson. I'll be the first to admit when Baker had his stint in Carolina I thought his days were up as far as being a starter in the league. And when he signed with us on a "prove it" deal I had low expectations. Then I actually watched the guy play (I don't watch college and don't see many Browns games) and I'm happy to say I was dead wrong about him. He'll do anything and everything he can to win games, including playing through injury and big hits. He's also just a blast to watch as well with his toughness and decision making. Proud to say he's our QB now and for the foreseeable future and hoping he can improve in year 2. Go Bucs!!
This has got to suck for New England. They lost Tom Brady and have yet to find a replacement that can win. Here in Tampa, when Tom hung up the cleats we manage to land a guy that got us to the playoffs and won a game. I gave Baker all kinds of grief this time last year. I ate my crow with about a bottle of hot sauce to make it go down. Now I am a Baker fan. As for Cleveland, they deserve what they got. Houston is pretty happy as well.
As long as baker doesn't get greedy and surrounds himself with talent, he could do ok in tampa... problem is too many quarterbacks want all the money but can't carry the team. Even mahommes restructured his contract and he won another ring last year because of it.
