Hi Mark. I'm a subscriber and have really enjoyed all your video's. Just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate all the help you have given us over the last few years and hope you continue to do so for a few more. Thanks for everything!
I've just decided to get rid of my old trusted Taylormade R5 driver i was undecided on taylormade rbz/r11 , titleist d20 or the Ping g20 so i visited my local American golf discount store. I currently play off 12hcap and the swing analysis showed me i have a swing speed of 105mph. My first choice was Titlest after a your video analysis but with my setup and swing speed i bought the Ping g20 10.5 deg loft with an stiff shaft and i gained approx 30yds carry. Now carring 270yds with 20yds roll :)
Bought one last Sunday. Shot 99 monday. First time below 100. Love the driver . Great price for such an improvement to my game. Long and straight. I tested the G25 also but could not justify the near 200 $ difference for my skill level. G15 irons in the bag also. Thanks Mark
Got one on Friday, got to take it to the course for the first time and crushed a 310 yd drive with it. Solid club and very consistent. Would recommend to semi low to mid handicap golfers
I'm a duffer who is improving every week. This club improved your driving? I live near the Ping factory in Phoenix and Marks reviews on the Ping I-20 irons was spot on. My current driver is a Taylormade Superfast Burner I won in a raffle.
just bought this driver....love it...straighter shots for me..nice and long good feel...tried the nike machspeed, taylormade R11 and rocketbalzz....love the Ping...my first Ping anything
Just bought this club, I have been wanting one for awhile and finally caught a great deal on it with the tour shaft in it. All I can say is, long and straight. Great club especially if you get it $100 less than retail brand new. :)
Loss of distance off the tee on long holes won't account for anywhere near as many shots on the round as out of bounds & play from rough etc imo. Golf improvement, ultimately, is about playing the high-percentage shot. If you only hit 1 in 5 fairways with a driver, it's probably better left in the car. My game improved massively one summer just playing my irons irons. You're better off 180 yards on your own fairway than 250 on someone else's! :)
I was custom fit yesterday with drivers and i got this g20 with an inch shorter than mens reg shaft and the red code grip it does every thing i want it to launches the ball with low spin also without forgetting distance my handicap was 25 and cut to 22 im hoping to cut my handicap even more thanks to this driver.
I've been waiting for your review of the G20s. Thank you! I just hit up the PING sprinter van the other day and really like the new driver. Ended up going with the K15 instead though, eliminated my fade and gave me straighter ball flight. Thanks Mark. G20 irons review?
@Mububban23 I recommend the G10 to everyone. Its long, straight, and I'm sure its now dirt cheap. Just dumped my RAZR Hawk driver and went back to the G10. I've hit every G10 follow up driver from Ping. They just aren't as consistent as the G10. Even with all the new tech, my G10 is still just as long as all this stuff.
I'm still fairly new to golf and have only broken 100 once which gives an idea of my crappy swing :-) But I found the G20 easy to launch & fairly straight considering my terrible slicey swing with driver, so I'd say it is a game improvement driver, BUT it is also of good enough quality that even Tour pros can happily use it. It covers many bases so well, whereas the i20 driver would be a bad choice for me, it is definitely aimed at better golfers but even Tour pros prefer the G20's forgiveness.
@denby187 they have shifted the weight around a bit. I have played about 5 rounds now with my G20 and honest for a high handicap such as myself I have not hit a more forgiving, long, and powerful driver (R11, R11s, Cobra AMP, RBZ.) It might not win the "best of show" but I KNOW it will win "long drive". I hit more than 80% of the fairways now. The G20 seemed to be a bit more forgiving for me than the G15 and G10. But it is all preference. Give it a whirl.
@TheMrhook My 2 cents after after hitting stiff, tour stiff, and tour X stiff today is that they are very solid shafts. Ive been playing a Burner 2.0 TP and the TFC tour stiff feels very similar to the HD6 stiff in the Burner TP. Traded in the Burner TP and the G20 will be here in 5 days (best numbers came from a head/shaft combo they didnt have in stock). FYI the burner is a great club however I dont need the open face.
I liked the video, but note the constant blurb from ping et al saying the G20 is a game improvement driver .... Given the guys on the pro tours and of course the current Masters champ that are using the G20, the game improvement tag doenst sit right! Your thoughts please?
Hello Mark, I am a 15 handicapper and like the Ping G20 driver. I have a G10 with a UST V2 shaft HL which works quite well. But I am confused by all the shaft options available for the G20 driver. Can you go through the different shaft options and explain who they are for and what is different (flex point, ball flight, etc).
Hey Mark would you be able to do a review of the cleveland SL 290 either in a comparison with the G20 or just a stand alone review compared to the other Cleveland ultra light series.
Nice review Mark, I have the G15 3-wood & hybrid, was just about to replace my Cobra S2 with a Ping driver to balance my bag better, any drastic difference between the G15 & G20 in terms of playability for a 16 handicap, as price-wise there are some cracking deals on the G15 now? Thanks. Rob
I just got my G20 couple of days before. Looks great but when hold in hand feel cheap .... Like a empty can and sounds same. Right now using Nike 10.5 with stiff shaft compare with it feeling is definitely lighter and steady. But my ball fade and does not give me distance compare with current one. Intend to sale it but before that want to try different shaft. My head speed is about 90, can you suggest me another shaft?
Hey Mark, I am loving the reviews! have you ever reviewed the G15 Driver? I am really curious to know if I should buy the newer more expensive g20 or g25.. Or if I should just go for the WAY more affordable g15?
@Ackytubby Have you tried the G20? It's leading the pack of my pre-testing research, but if I could find a G10 second hand would you recommend I save the money? Are they that similar?
what would be the best club for out there for a low handicaper im a long straight hitter but i need a extra stiff shaft is and i was wondering is there any new clubs out there with them old straight faced drivers like the old titleists?
Question: You talk about how it's "good for your handicap golfer" who struggles with this or that, but is that even a fair assessment? Obviously manufacturers love to appeal to a golfer's ego and say "Game-Improvement", "Better-Player", etc. But what do you say about Bubba Watson using the G20? Or numerous other world class athletes in the top 50 of the world rankings using what people would classify as "game-improvement" clubs?
Hi Mark, I'm a 20 handicapper and torn between buying the Ping G15 driver or the G20 driver. What would you recommend in terms of forgiveness, distance, spin? For an extra £50 or so I can get the G20 but I hear that there is little between the clubs? Is the G20 worth the extra money? Cheers MM
HI mark, i have a handicapof 30 and have been playing golf for 6 months and i am looking for a driver, i am 15 years old and 5'10. what do you reccommend.
I'd say 80% of drivers in the shop are aimed at the high handicapper. True, technology improves & shafts get longer & balls are going further, but i'm yet to see a driver that truly forgives a poor swing. Forgiveness is what amateurs want from an already unforgiving club to keep the ball in play. My advice to high handicappers is to try out clubs in the pro shop, choose the club that feels good & inspires confidence & work with it until you need a more workable club.
I've analyzed my rounds over many years & the aspects of the game that improved & genuinely reduced my handicap were not solved with a piece of equipment. There's a certain placebo affect with new gear admittedly. Replenished enthusiasm & the feel of a modern technology club, but this is superficial. Putting, chipping, bunker play, setup, swing, course-management etc. This is golf.
No, it's an evolution over the G15, not a revolution. Unless you have some spare cash, it'd only be an incremental improvement, not an "oh my god!" sort of thing
Have mine since 2012. Absolutely easy to swing with confidence and get a beautiful ball flight. Still using it in 2020.
Still using mine in 2022. Hasn't lost any distance!!
I still use the G20... great club.

Just brought one x demo , what sort of distances were you getting? Robin 17 handicapper cheers
Nothing has been able to replace my G10. I've tried them all. They broke the mold with the G10.

Great review! Whats the name of the song at the wnd of the video?
I wish like Mark i just had a rooms full of all the latest gear and trackman and all that spare time :)

HI mark, i have a handicapof 30 and have been playing golf for 6 months and i am looking for a driver, i am 15 years old and 5'10. what do you reccommend.
Same here. my drives have been so much straiter

I currently have the g15 10.5 reg driver, and am looking to upgrade to a new one, mid handicap what is best for me?
i will be hoping to get the matching three wood but can anyone tell me wether they perform the same or shall i get custom fit for more different woods
@deowrat what shaft have u got in there? R?

Just bought one, thought I'd hit a few balls on the range, bloody skied it and marked the head, aside from that good club!
Love mine
How much do you want for it?
Ping G20 Or VRS?
ping and titleist #thabest
it amazes me how many people can hit 300yards or more!!
No, it's an evolution over the G15, not a revolution. Unless you have some spare cash, it'd only be an incremental improvement, not an "oh my god!" sort of thing
If you have a 30 handicap you would be better of with a Ping K15
game improvement?
if it's good enough for Bubba, it's good enough for me.
Not my opinion but pga guy not mark tell me ping
vr pro
i hate the sound of it..
ew... that sound is clank. like hitting an empty in can.
