When I’m playin the defect, it doesn’t matter if it’s 1 claw or 20 claws in my deck, to me that’s a claw deck and I’m in there grabbing every all for one, hologram, and rebound I can find (I don’t ever take scrape tho)
For the record, I checked the seed as he asked, and that fight is NOT the spaghetti monster, it's the Spire Growth (the tentacle guy who Constricts your ass)
not to mention bias cog and clockwork souvenir 😂 that act 2 boss fight he says he is relying on claw only meanwhile his lightning orbs are doing 40 damage a turn lol
The guys that steal your cards on the floor 2 boss always will steal your highest rarity cards, since electrodynamics was your only rare card in deck they were guaranteed to take it.
Boot used to work against the Heart damage cap in a funny way too, because boot damage didn't go into the cap. So, if you had many weak hits, you used to be able to kill the Heart in one turn even after they put the cap in. Sadly this was later patched out.
Early on when you transformed instead of upgrading at an event was 100% the right play. Upgrading at this point doesn’t make the most sense because you still have a lot of strikes and defends that would clutter the deck. Transforming then allows you to remove and get better cards in play. Upgrade is usually better on higher floors once you have a deck going and cards you want upgraded.
Instead of upgrading yeah. He should have removed the curse though imo. Especially that early in the run it can ruin your draws so badly since u have so little cards.
really good run! it’s amazing to see you make decisions like adding electrodynamics despite it not being “in theme” with your scrape claw deck. only complaint i can have with the run is skipping out on steam barriers for glaciers, with all this dex scaling and scraping steam barrier feels so perfect for the run and it could’ve given you block when draw was less fortunate.
Glacier with the biased cog package was definitely the play. Even with dex scaling, he’d get way more block out of glacier and he wasn’t ever struggling for energy so the 0 cost only really matters for scrape
End of Run Analysis: Great run! Well done recognizing the importance of mixing archetypes! It's usually better to use at least two archetypes; one offensive and one defensive. I'm not sure if you've figured that much out yet, but the fact that you didn't take only claw and zero-cost cards, thereby getting yourself killed by the middle of Act II, is great progress! In particular, I think the Frost/Focus went really well with your Claw build here, since it's a bit of a "set it and forget it" archetype, while Claw requires active thinking and management to pull off. Altogether you had a pretty well balanced deck, and I think the only thing that would've been nice to see at some point would've been an Autoshields for turn 1 block before you've gotten any frost off the ground. Also, Bottled Lightning *could've* worked well with Reboot, just giving you an innate mulligan turn 1 each fight, but whether it'd have been worth keeping the curse is honestly pretty hard for me to say.
@27:30 Rebound, go for the eyes, scrape, go for the eyes would've been better. When you have rebound in your hand, it's always worth thinking about the possibility that you can immediately draw whatever you've just put back on top.
NL, IDK if you're gonna see this, but you do not need to be afraid of bias cognition. It will take 4 turns before you're back to normal focus, and by then your enemies will be dead. By all means be careful on bosses, but on elites or neutral enemies you'll just burst down you can ignore it
RUclips recommended a video about land trains to me after this because they were invented by R.G. Letourneau. No idea if that R stands for "Ryan" but it would track.
After the 2nd boss you said All for One would be your dream rare. I think its good to make note that your claw only did 7 damage at the end of that fight. Your orbs did a lot of heavy lifting with your Bias Cog + Electrodynamics. I would have leaned way more into the orbs and away from the 0-drops once you got that electro. Also want to add that taking Clockwork Souvenir was a really good heads up play.
Allways a risk. 1 normality and a bad hallway fight at the question mark could ruin a run. That said this was indeed one of the best places to take such risk since shop was only 2 floors away without guaranteed figt.
It’s so wild to me, I remember being a single 18 year old watching your videos living at my dad’s house to becoming married, earning my doctorate, and working through residency 12 years later. It’s nice to see STS again. Thanks for the good times NL
@29:30 biased cognition, electrodynamics, dual cast would've done an inordinate amount of damage evenly distributed across the board, which is extremely important for this fight, but you couldn't do it in the end because you'd played Coolheaded and thus had a frost orb at the front. Planning your turns out as much as possible (ie. excepting considerations for card draw) *before* playing any cards can help to avoid this sort of thing.
Despite people saying that they checked the seed and it was not the Spaghetti Monster, I just want to say that I checked the seed and it was definitely the Spaghetti Monster and I’m definitely not making it up at all. Your choice was valid and the Spaghetti Monster is an awful enemy.
The transform/upgrade/remove event is one where upgrade is usually wrong. As you saw this run transform early is very good almost being a remove+card reward. Hopefully you keep keep trying transforms early
I've seen in multiple videos now NL zaps or equivalent before dual casting, therefore ending up with one free orb slot which would have otherwise been filled!
But he gets an extra evoke. More damage short term, less damage long term. In general, burst damage is usually better than sustained damage in StS (although in reality it is case-by-case)
@@SeeMyDolphin Realistically you probably get that evoke the very next turn since your orb slots are filled up anyways, although it's case by case basis as you say (now I don't think he thinks much about it when he does it though).
Hey NL i think you're thinking about Biased Cognition wrong, don't look at it as "i lose a focus every turn" look at it as "if i play this do i win in less than 4 turns" because it's only after that 4th turn you'll feel it's downside
I recently had a defect run get an infinite combo with Hologram+, Madness to make it cost zero, All For One to get it back plus my other zeros, and Turbo to pay for the All For One... just had to cross my fingers and hope i didnt fight time keeper lmao. who cares if turbo fills ur deck with junk if you win on the spot
Hey NL, did you ever beat the heart as the Watcher? I know you did A20, but i don't recall you beating the heart with her. That could be a good goal for after this series. Or maybe check out the Downfall mod where you play as the bosses and fight the characters.

that was painful to watch, since ornithopter procced at the start of the fight.
I'm no expert but I think if you expect a fight to go less than 4 (or 5) turns more, biased doesn't have the downside
