My buddy Tek Threat left this mixer at my house for an entire 2 years back in the early 2000s. Probably the most scratching and juggling I ever did in my entire life.
The headphone jack/cable prevents one from inadvertently hitting the power switch so not really an issue unless your not using cans. Been mixing since 1993, I'm on my third set of MK2's combined with a Technics mixer, got the SH-EX1200 this time as opposed to previously owning the models with rubbish crossfaders and I'm seriously impressed with it. I play old-school hardcore techno, gabber and happy hardcore (all pre 1997) and find this mixer does everything I want perfectly and the sound quality is excellent. Got my mint 1200's combined with a black SH_EX set up in pride if place in my front room, looks great!
My #1 favorite analog dj mixer of all time 🙏🏽💯
I have some vinyl set in my channel made w diz mixer, love it. Hip Hop dont stap
just bought one to display in my studio ......been djing for 40 years but could never justify one...beautiful mixer...
countteddy hi there. Just wondering how much did you paid for? And did you ordered it from Japan? If so how much was the cost for import duties. Thanks
You just made me want to buy one! LOL LOL LOL LOL ... Blessings!!
I got one of these from our local dump...it was rattling away....opened it up...spare crossfader still in it....it's the brown coloured one....sits nice on the side of my 1210s...nice vid cheers
The thing about those Technics mixers is that the cross-faders were super-buttery. Way more buttery than anything out at the time, BUT, they wore out crazy fast! With heavy use the fader would be having issues within weeks.
the EX had an optical crossfader
Right on, I never realized that. We had a black one at the radio station, I guess that's the "DJ" model. Beautiful mixer and that fader was focus-fader smooth the first week or so and then started bleeding like crazy.
def creator hi. Just wondering did you purchased them from Ebay? And how much did the duties cost you? Thanks.
My first mixer🥰 the black one is more beautiful
Best feeling fader of any mixer I've used IMO
better than an inno?...
@@ignitore yep, til' this day.
My favorite mixer of all time.
Mine as well, and in fact, I have two of them.
I'm surprised to see how many DJs are still using this mixer. I'm just starting out and I paid 350$ for mine 120volt and its in beautiful shape. I had no Idea there was a spare cross fader in there. I'm going to check mine to see if the spare is still in it.
Oh maaan, I love this guy...man what a great job....especially past 7min. Thank you.
"The only people who use the curve adjustment, are serial killers and old school disco djs" 🤣
One of those technics mixers even came with a extra volume fader and a extra cross fader underneath ...very tight
I remember wanting this mixer so bad, assuming that because it was there 'championship' mixers and branded Technics it must have been the very best. I had a Gemini that I think cost £39.99 brand new mail order. I started with 'KAM' direct drive turntables before getting some used MKIIs a year or two later, still with the cheapo mixer for ages.
I'm seeing these on Marketplace for 60-100 here in the UK and really want one for the nostalgia.
it was advertised that the EX1200 had an optical crossfader and the extra fader in the bottom compartment was for the line faders ...
Once again I tip my hat to you my g ..I so would have that same set up just for looks as well and I'm going to in the near future so anytime you get to baltimore M.D. holla..cuz in about six to seven months I can make that fantasy a reality ..but my boo she gets down wit music and would join the convo..lmao ..I love the vintage dj equitment and am working on having a room set up just to display all of it...def the many sets of tables and mixars ..and I really like to keep them by brands if possible. So keep up the reviews you always bring me back to great memories when you break put the classic 's ..ya dig ..and that mixer was a classic
I love the way you think dog ..I would so put together the whole technics set like that just for show ...tight
Love these mixer ... Never owned one but always love these .. keep up the review love the nostalgia videos !!
Can you safely use the Japan version in the US? I know the power specs are close but I don't want to get one only to fry it.
legendary 2 channel....built as a tank...other ones are Vestax, Rane, pioneer 909....
Love these series
Bought a Mint almost brand new condition one from a Japan seller on eBay but need to get a step down converter to use here in the states and yes it's the EX version but it's in Black. Looks beautiful between my silver/black MK2s.
It is beautiful mixer.
Excuse me what is the difference about tech sh-dj1200 and Sh-DX1200? Thanks
I can’t find the Technics Anniversary video he was referencing. Any help?
Sean Patrick ruclips.net/video/JGWuyMKT8wU/видео.html
Thank you!!
Easily one of my favorite faders to scratch on! Real easy to control not too buttery not too stiff. Luckily it still hasn’t bled yet then again it’s not my everyday mixer, bought it used a few years back and still running like a champ! Would be super dope if technics came out w a newer battle style mixer! I’d def cop one!!! Great vids bro! Peace ✌🏼
I miss Mister Remix. I need to go back to HOU.
I have one signed by Qbert & D-Styles from a show we did in Japan.
And it's no legend, there are warehouses in Okinawa and Tokyo with tons of these mixers (the black edition too), as well as technics and vestax TTs brand new & used.
Nothing beats the eq though.
We nicknamed the eq. We call it the squelch.
I love the squelch
I have a question can I hook a SL 3 and phase essential and make it DVS?
Since it’s from Japan, do you need some sort of adapter or transformer to plug into US outlet?
Iam in Australia, you need an adaptor cause in Japan they run on 110v. IF purchased from Japan....
@@konne16 u know where I can get one?
@@djdrewthat7623 get what? An adaptor?
I think and converter or adaptor should be possible to get online or good electronic shop..., Iam about to get this mixer and 1210, left all my gear in Germany, cause it's so expensive so send to Down Under... I always used a Vestax PMC 07 now getting a Technics is existing 🤟
Truth on the Vintage Gear ! If they can’t appreciate classic gear they don’t need to be here. Lmao!
Respect to all fat guy DJ's.
Fat DJs rise up!
This is very good !
No mention of sound quality? The sound quality for this mixer is up there with Rane and Ecler for me. Much better than Vestax.
Best sound for the price IMO. Much better than Ecler (at least than Ecler NUO 3.0).
I love these videos!
I had one of these nearly twenty years ago. Good job they had the spare fader: they only last a matter of weeks!!!
Love this guy wicked vid bro 👌
They are indeed plentiful in Japan. Just picked one up and i see them often for about 100 bux but man, they seem to be getting snatched up online often
I like to see a video on how to clean them
CURVE ADJUSTMENT IS LOCATED IN THE SPARE FADER COMPARTMENT ITS A TINY SWITCH FACING SIDEWAYS HARD TO SEE BUT IS DEFO THERE :) but like u said only serial killers and disco enthusiasts would need it
Thanks for sharing. I am about to order one from Japan. Wish me luck. The one I am aiming looks decent but based on sellers feed back scares me a little.
Big up mr remix
dope video bro
I have 2 ex , 1 like this and 1 black. I love the Sound of this mixer with 447
was hoping we could see you scratch on it! cool vid tho thanks for the upload
Scott Lee You know what, I’ll shoot one this weekend. And I’ll try to shoot one with every piece I cover from now on. Thanks man!
Love your reviews!
Please can you make a video of the roland dj 2000?
Dope yo!
Got one.
You should do the Pioneer EFX series!
Dope
i was sort of expecting a video talking about shure stopping manufacturing from theirs needles
macboogieland probably would have been called ' a video about needles'
Bahahahaha! Youre damn right. Drop em like a bad habit
Please do one on the SL DZ-1200.
plz do a video on the samurai series from vestax and its crossfader fader modes.
I just retired my SHDJ-1200 and switched to a Z2.
All to true
would have been nice to hear what you were talking about, could have slapped some meat beat manifesto on the deck :)
Classic look!........I like dat Mixer!!....gotta Gemini MC 3200....dnt laugh!....wood grain baby!!...match da basement walls...lol!
guess im a serial killer!
these mixers fell to pieces in short time
Dude
U didn't even bother on scratching.
Next time tho👍👍👍
EQ'S ......STILL NOT TOUCHED......CROSS FADER LIFE EXPECTANCY ....ZERO BUT IN TRUTH THE MIXER THAT MADE ME LEARN D.I.Y MIXER MODS
Exactly, the EQ's are the best EVER!
Decent mixer. Absolutely shit faders.
Typo...MX 3200 mixer
😂😂😂😂 serial killers
i like your series but you have to stop calling DJ culture nerd culture. Its def NOT. You may be a nerd who happens to dj but djing especially in the days you speak of is the opposite of nerd culture.
this is a nerdy comment :)
second
faders of bad quality
Please do one on the SL DZ-1200.
