Tell everyone you know.... NEVER buy a Dell laptop. I went through the same thing trying to replace the battery on a $3000 Dell Alienware laptop. 2.7 hrs labor, $300 charge plus shipping. Both of these repairs with other manufacturers in less than $100 and can be done at home by almost anyone. But Dell has made these repairs so impossible it's smarter to buy a new laptop... for sure it won't be a Dell.
The process seems too risky and so unworthy to try.
