Just wanna quickly correct some things here: In the lore, it wasn't one's love that brought them to life, it was the last stitch being sewn in (which still makes no sense but whatever). So, basically, I imagine that they'd die if that stich was somehow pulled out. Also, another thing: They didn't get discontinued in 2015, they were rebooted in around 2017 with new dolls and a Netflix show.
Can I just say that the reason Barbie's proportions were so small was because the clothes had to fit on the doll and sit in a way that looked realistic. This is because the fabric was much thicker in proportion to the doll compared to us. An example of this is the lengthened neck, which prevented Barbie's face from being smothered when she wore thicker clothing.
I also know another theory why the Barbie doll’s proportions are so small. There is a girl and she has had 5 breast surgeries so that they are as big as watermelons. She has also had a surgery that made her waist tiny as F. And some people say that Barbie is inspired by her....

The eyes are the windows to the soul. To have no eyes or unnatural eyes implies no soul, or unnatural soul. It's why lalaloopsy is so unnerving, but also why the baby dolls, the barbie dolls, and all of the pet dolls shilled to kids are so scary. They're not real. It looks real but has nothing inside, and you did a great job capturing all of this stuff. I was more of a drawing, video games, and lego kid, anyway- just no figures, and I always gave the barbies and bratz dolls I was given away (or buried them). Eugh.
A Lemon lol I only had a problem glass eyed dolls. The reason they made me uncomfortable wasn't because they weren't real/alive, or felt uncanny, but how it felt like a presence was there. I was kinda scared of this one doll in particular that made me forever kinda iffy when It came to dolls that looked similar. This entire video kinda reminds me of this really creepy toy I had when I was little. it had the body of a lightning bug with wings that actually lit up, but it had the head of a human baby, and like Lavender Towne said about the Baby Alive doll, it had a really realistic face, but the eyes and mouth were literally like the ones from Lavender Townes redrawing of the Baby Alive doll. The doll was glowing the bright green barf color out of its eyes and mouth. Not only that, but it's arms and legs were moving up and down. I was so scared. I tried to scream for my mom but I couldn't manage to get any sound out. I was also way too afraid to move, and I broke into a cold sweat. With tears streaming down my face, I closed my eyes tight and prayed for it all to end. I don't remember much of what happened after that point; as I was so frightened and it was also a really long time ago. Looking back, it was probably just sleep paralysis. I realize now that I used to get that pretty frequently as a child. But never to that extent. If it was though, that was the most horrifying sleep paralysis I've ever had.

Also, and I know that this has been said, but I just don't understand the Barbie controversy. Not once did little me, a very insecure girl on her own, ever feel like she needed to look like a chunk of plastic. To me they were simply what they were made to be; toys. I was too busy *playing* to think deeply and wonder why I didn't look like a fictional character, and why there weren't other characters that looked like me. I feel like this whole "issue" started when adults started projecting their insecurities on children.
I honestly never felt that way either. Especially since I was a little kid who didn't want the figure of an adult yet. By the time I was that age, I obviously didn't play with toys anymore. I also assume it saves money on production by making Barbie thin.
The la la dolls are meant to look like old fashioned ragdolls, before mass production of dolls, people made their own dolls. They would use buttons for the eyes for rag dolls because people made their own clothing, also many families left the face blank.
If you ever do a part 2 of this, you should add a flipazoo. I thought the idea of an animal that's 2 in 1 was kinda creepy because it's like they are stuck together forever. You should make it as if they are mutated together or one of them has a parasite of the other

I find Lalaloopsies adorable as well! Especially the Lalaloopsie Littles dolls, they were always my favorite as a kid. And I agree with Baby Alive dolls being creepy-even when I was little I found them terrifying, especially since I could always hear the mechanics moving. Any toy that was supposed to appear 'alive' but had noticeable mechanical sounds freaked me out to the point of just not using the mechanical part entirely.
When I was young me and my sister practically had our room filled with Barbies, Monster Highs, Lalaloopsy, My Life Dolls (basically like American Girl Dolls but cheaper) and Poly Pockets. Little me is quaking

With poppet dolls (and presumably voodoo dolls) the pins are actually used to "focus" the intent and energy on a specific spot (at least as far as I was told, I could be wrong). But say you wanted to specifically try to use energy to heal someone who had a knee injury, you'd put pins into the knee of the doll to focus the energy on that injured spot. So yes, they look scary, but they aren't meant to be violent.

I was obsessed with La La Loopsies when I was younger, and to be honest, I still kinda like them today. They're so creepy/cute that it's appealing, and I like the whole aesthetic of marionettes/dolls that come to life, and are really tortured yet cute (especially those victorian looking dolls). The whole premise in general of creepy young girls is interesting, and a lot of the time, it makes a good story. Can I just say that the reason Barbie's proportions were so small was because the clothes had to fit on the doll and sit in a way that looked realistic. This is because the fabric was much thicker in proportion to the doll compared to us. An example of this is the lengthened neck, which prevented Barbie's face from being smothered when she wore thicker clothing.

The eyes are the windows to the soul. To have no eyes or unnatural eyes implies no soul, or unnatural soul. It's why lalaloopsy is so unnerving, but also why the baby dolls, the barbie dolls, and all of the pet dolls shilled to kids are so scary. They're not real. It looks real but has nothing inside, and you did a great job capturing all of this stuff. I was more of a drawing, video games, and lego kid, anyway- just no figures, and I always gave the barbies and bratz dolls I was given away (or buried them). Eugh.

This entire video kinda reminds me of this really creepy toy I had when I was little. it had the body of a lightning bug with wings that actually lit up, but it had the head of a human baby, and like Lavender Towne said about the Baby Alive doll, it had a really realistic face, but the eyes and mouth were literally like the ones from Lavender Townes redrawing of the Baby Alive doll. Ok so when I was little (maybe 4 or 5 years old) I had a baby alive. When I wasn't playing with it I would put it in a little high chair at the end of my bed. One time in the middle of the night, I noticed a bright green glow coming from the end of my bed. I was terrified but I shifted my eyes to see what it was. What I saw was probably one of the most disturbing things I've ever experienced. The doll was glowing the bright green barf color out of its eyes and mouth. Not only that, but it's arms and legs were moving up and down. I was so scared. I tried to scream for my mom but I couldn't manage to get any sound out. I was also way too afraid to move, and I broke into a cold sweat. With tears streaming down my face, I closed my eyes tight and prayed for it all to end. I don't remember much of what happened after that point; as I was so frightened and it was also a really long time ago.
Looking back, it was probably just sleep paralysis. I realize now that I used to get that pretty frequently as a child. But never to that extent. If it was though, that was the most horrifying sleep paralysis I've ever had.

Not once did little me, a very insecure girl on her own, ever feel like she needed to look like a chunk of plastic. To me they were simply what they were made to be; toys. I feel like this whole "issue" started when adults started projecting their insecurities on children.

The la la dolls are meant to look like old fashioned ragdolls, before mass production of dolls, people made their own dolls. They would use buttons for the eyes for rag dolls because people made their own clothing, also many families left the face blank.

With poppet dolls (and presumably voodoo dolls) the pins are actually used to "focus" the intent and energy on a specific spot (at least as far as I was told, I could be wrong). But say you wanted to specifically try to use energy to heal someone who had a knee injury, you'd put pins into the knee of the doll to focus the energy on that injured spot. So yes, they look scary, but they aren't meant to be violent.

Those types of video remind me how kinda sadistic I was as a child when it came to toys (even if I actually never destroyed any of them, but the scenarios I imagined were indeed rather messed up xD) and it makes me wonder where that actually came from as I've always been calm and respectful to everyone (as long as I wasn't treated like the little dolly I apparently look/ed like)

I cannot believe I have scrolled so far and not seen one comment about Furbies. They remind me of little gremlins and their eyes are so creepy to me.
J. Sun I had a furby and I loved it until it got sick and I didn't know what to do, so my mom helped me make it better. I was so scared it would get sick again that I locked it in my mom's closet and years later I gave it away.

I absolutely loved lalaloupsies as a kid. The second she showed the picture I remembered sitting in my grandparents house watching the show.
For the hatchimal one, you should have made the egg look all cupcakes and rainbows to further prove your point and make it scarier.

I have a hatchimal and it doesn't work, but sometimes when I'm cleaning it just randomly turns on and starts making noise, creeps me out every time. The hatchimal is one of the bird things.

Once in seventh grade I punched a guy in the chest for calling me a Barbie doll. I certainly did not take it as a compliment.
I was obsessed with La La Loopsies when I was younger, and to be honest, I still kinda like them today. They're so creepy/cute that it's appealing, and I like the whole aesthetic of marionettes/dolls that come to life, and are really tortured yet cute (especially those victorian looking dolls). The whole premise in general of creepy young girls is interesting, and a lot of the time, it makes a good story. It's actually one of the reasons why I like Creepypastas such as Sally, Ally the Slender Doll, The Babydoll Killings, etc.
