Worked with many of my fellow workers, at Midway Airport in Chicago,for 46 years,1970 till 2016, boy it was all outside work,and the worst was the wind,as Lou Rawls,another Chicago native,in his sound Dead End StreeT,the almighty Hawk,meaning the wind!I had frost bite 3 times!Now at 75,retired since 2016,blacked out on the ramp at Midway,from a sub Duran hematoma,bleeding on the brain,had just got out of a 5,000 gallon fuel truck,the lord was with me!Worked with a lot good people,they had to be to handle the weather!Thomas A.FilipiakButler Aviation Signature Flight Support!
I had the pleasure of meeting Will White at the Intercontinental Hotel when staying there. That smile and attitude are genuine and he's a treasure on Michigan Avenue. 🤩

Funny watching him show what he's layered in. One of the first things I found when I moved from northern Canada to Texas over 40 years ago and even now in the northeast, it's hard to get truly warm clothing in the US. Then of course, I'm comparing to my handmade Inuvik Eskimo parka that kept me toasty warm at 30 below F temps. When young those temps were no bid deal but now old, I'm happy to be a tad further south.
at least the city has the bulidings as a windbreak, Im about 1 1/2 hours west of Chicago in a rural country town and were getting like 55+mph wind gusts

I hope the doorman gets to sit inside fairly often.....An Uber with guests wouldn't come by every 5 minutes so he should be able to sit inside at these times.......His employer has an obligation to do this and furthermore I would do this for an employee who works hard like he does.
These workers should be Compliment for their Determination & Pay rise on weather like this in Intense below Zero, without Complaining.. Unlike big boys sits behind the desk in the warm Office..
