My soul belongs in Tennessee although I’ve never lived there. I can’t describe how I know this except it’s a feeling in me that longs for that area and the era of the 1800s. Perhaps someday I will be blessed to live in the mountains.
Thank you so much, glad to have you here

My grandfather's cabin is still standing although a bit fallen down
He cut down sawed and built it with his own hands.
His farm is a historic landmark in Canton NC .
It's the oldest still working dairy farm in Western NC.
Wish I could have lived there ...
❤️

@@TheAppalachianStoryteller do you know if Mark Bowe had a hand in the restoration of these cabins?
@@ralphcrosby9622 hmm, not sure, I know the second cabin, was donated by a guy from California who used to live in Grainger County
Incredible history and a great find. It amazed me how they disassembled, moved and rebuilt the old cabins.
Indeed, it took them 2 years to reassemble the first cabin, and they have been working 2 years reassembling the second one. When finished it will be a schoolhouse.
I enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you ma’am

indeed, I would love to have one of these cabins one day
When I'm able, I would love to buy one an restore it to it's natural beauty!
@@southernjustice615 me too my friend, me too
The house we bought a.few years back had a old barn out the back. The estate agent said it needed to be removed. But after our builder checked it out he said all it need was new iron on the roof. The bones were solid. Will stand for years. We love it. It’s great for storage and we can store the whole winters wood in it.
That’s great, kudos to you for saving it
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos. History is kept alive because of you. As soon as you step inside, you can just "feel" the lives they've held. The happiness, sadness, death, and new life all happened under that one roof. Many times over.
Thank you Vicki, good people are still out there like Mr. Ray
@@TheAppalachianStoryteller -I sure agree.
I love your ❤ warming programs. You are a wonderful down to earth person. Thank you soo much!!
Thank you friend
Howdy Sir- I just found your channel and have been watching some of your videos. I appreciate what you are doing. The restoration of these cabins is really nice. Having done some of that I can appreciate the work that went into doing a great restoration. Thank you for making these videos and keeping our rich history alive. Much of the culture and customs of the Appalachians made its way to where I live in western Arkansas in the Ouchita Mountains. God’s blessings to you
Thank you my friend and welcome home, pull up a chair and stay awhile. There are about 100 videos here and new ones come out most every weekend. Glad you have you here.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Yes ma’am
We where a family of 6 and lived in three rooms. People nowadays have to have a bedroom for everyone with an extra. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed night!
Indeed, thanks for sharing
We lived in shotgun 3 room house growing up. It was on Clark Street on a dead end one street over from Knoxville junk yard. We had 4 boys 2 girls, & my parents live in it. Oldest brother wasn't there, he was in Vietnam. My Momma's daddy built a cabin in Friendsville TN on Misers Station road. When my cousin sold it the people that bought it tore it down. I can still see each room. The kitchen where we ate lots of my mamaws canned food. The living room where My papaw's kids sat up all night with him in his casket by the wall. The high bed in the bedroom with a string coming from the light tied to the top of the bed.
@@shesalady5258 Thank you for sharing that, I could totally visualize it.
Always enjoy your videos. Great work!

Great video. Thank you for capturing our sweet cabins and the stories they tell. I'm glad Rob was there when you stopped.
Next time you come, we will share a haunting that took place in the first one. The couple in the photo above the mantle paid us a visit.
I’d love to hear this story- do tell
Another great video, I have always been fascinated by log cabins and how they were built, amazing craftsmanship these folks knew what they were doing, Donnie Laws does alot of great videos on the Appalachia, I think you would enjoy it, he is a great storyteller also, thanks for sharing friend.

Thank you!
Thumbs ☝
👍 👍
One more question has it been repainted? A good scraping and a couple coats of paint would sure help in preserving such important history as this. Too bad somehow we couldn't organize an effort to do just that ❤.
Im not sure, maybe Mr. Ray will chime in here
I'm beginning to think you might need to change the intro to your videos to something like... " The video you are about to watch may lead to addiction, watch at your own discretion....😂
I appreciate that man, lots of work goes into each of these videos
The two story house similar to my great grand parents built in 1800's had exact smock house my great grandparents house had three rooms downstairs..one bed room living room with pump organ 1915 upstairs one bedroom and closet and chamber pot area smock house identical might have been a set like from sears and rubuck . Church most definitely am connected too ..Cherokee and possibly minister Rev Deaton who son was in Jaskson Mississippi...
sounds like a cool house, you have any photos of it?

And now days couples that have 2 children they have to have 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, with a beautiful kitchen and they eat out 5 nights a week. Shameful
