I love how so many of those Lizzie Borden clues seemed so easy, and in the end it didn't matter which ones they gave because Spoiler #1 had absolutely no name recognition when Alex gave the answer.

Double dare was the best game show of all time

Gary Giardina was also a contestant on Jeopardy (another Alex Trebek hosted game show), in 1986; he was a five time champion and went on to become a semi-finalist in the tournament of champions on that show.

He was also a contestant on The NEW Tic Tac Dough with Wink Martindale, he appeared on the 2nd Season and he played 7 tie games against George Allen, even though he lost, he ended up with $1500 for those 6 ties and he was a whale of a competitor

On the Bob Hope question, the second clue that is shown is labeled as number 3 (6:30). Also, on the dare, it sounds like Alex says, "You have five seconds, Bob" instead of "You have five seconds, Bart."

I know that this may be a strange question, but THIS Double dare Version had NOTHING to do with the other Double Dare Game show which would be on the Nick Netwok starting in 86?????

I imagine this must have been a pretty demanding show for the technical directors -- they had to always be on the ball to make sure the sound in each contestant or spoiler's booth was turned on or off at the right time. Any mistake might have given an unfair advantage to one of the players.

This really is a pretty good television series. I wonder why it failed? It requires a fair amount of intelligence and luck, the prizes are reasonable, and it's suspenseful. Maybe in that period people were looking more for celebrity game shows like Match Game or common sense ones like Family Feud. Had Jeopardy been revived by then?

    • @disneyfan8178
      @disneyfan8178 2 года назад

Well, sort of. IOW, two years after "DD" was cancelled, a short-lived redo of "Jeopardy" hosted again by Art Fleming premiered at about 11:00 AM Los Angeles time. It didn't last very long.

I would say it failed, because it was “high brow”, but was mostly pop culture crap questions. Not the right mix.

@@michaelglickman1300 I can't see Alex Trebek covered in Gak. Marc Summers barely managed it himself. He was known to be OCD. Would be funny though.
It would've been interesting to see Alex Trebek on Nickelodeon in any of their game shows. He'd be perfect for Make the Grade. The Teen tournament for Jeopardy! was around in the late 80s
Dick Clark would also be interesting to see. He already had done a version of the Pyramid for kids on ABC and CBS. It could have worked in the 80s and 90s, probably early 2000s.

BUZZR is a secondary broadcast network available in more than 50 markets across the United States. So, if BUZZR is in your area, you may be able to receive it using an antenna from a local broadcast affiliate. BUZZR's availability on cable varies by market. You may check for coverage locally at BUZZR's website. It is also available nationally through an open frequency on Galaxy 19 using C-Band free-to-air satellite.

A song about her contains the line: "Oh you can't chop your Momma up in Massachusetts".
While she was on trial for the double murder, her minister sent her roses every day.
Shortly before the crime, this woman bought a bottle of poison.
Elizabeth Montgomery portrayed this accused murderess in the TV dramatization of her story.

If you want to see Alex Trebek ESPECIALLY warm & fuzzy, watch Classic Concentration -- "a Mark Goodson Television Production" from the late 1980s until about 1990 (remake of Concentration from the 1970s with Jack Narz).
