He is my go-to guitarist for learning solos as his style, especially the pace at which he teaches, tends to yield my best results when I try to learn something new. I lacked the confidence to think I could attempt to learn any solos, let alone Vivian Campbell's but I was able to get through this one without problems so I can now just add it to my practice regimen as another specific goal to work toward. I learned the solo for Holy Diver using a Chris Zoupa lesson too and posted my own quite amateur guitar cover attempt to my YT channel, another thing I doubted I would do. ( I've never had lessons either, unfortunately, so I guess that didn't help with confidence) I'm having fun playing either way and Chris' videos help immensely. Thanks for taking the time to make all of these lessons...
I always felt I could hold my own when it comes to playing guitar. But your videos made me discover a lot of different ways to approach soloing. I just want to take the time to say thank you to you...for taking your own time to post these wonderful videos. Thanks Chris! Much appreciated.
Met Vivian Campbell in '87 when a group of us skipped school and went up to his fathers summer house...he was there playing guitar....i'm 50 now and remember it like it was yesterday!
Hey Chris. Just wanna say. Thank you so so much for all the lessons. You have made me a better guitarist then I could have ever imagined. You inspire me to practise more and you make me fall in love with my intrusment everyday. If I could be half the musician you are I'll be very happy. Thank you so much again for everything.
Chris, you are my favorite teacher on the net and that is saying something because I watch a ton of em. The way you teach is the right way to do it. Thank you for your efforts it IS appreciated.
I was listening to this song and I really wanted to learn the solo and I was hoping (you) had made a video on it as I've learned many solos here (Mr Crowley etc) and lo and behold you made the video only two months ago. Great work
Awesome lesson, great to have some oldschool shred tutorials! would it be possible for you to do a rig rundown for some of these solo lessons to give an idea what you're doing in the way of tone? keep up the great work dude!
In the intro at 34 seconds when you were playing section 3 it sounds different then how you explained it and displayed tabs for it at 11:57. I don’t here you doing the pull off from 13 to 12 on the second string after the 15-13-12 pull off and then 14 on the g string. I slowed it down as much as possible and it sounds different, did u play it differently?
you should take a look at the solo(s) from set the world afire by megadeth! would love to hear you do some more megadeth especially from the SFSGSW album! keep up the great work
You know what I actually just saw you've done a few. I'm being greedy asking for some new stuff . I just think you kill it dude I would love to learn a solo from hail stan . Long time fan your the best . Last request I've been asking since the beginning to do divine illusion by all shall perish
RektGames I noticed this too. Was gonna comment but see its been done. When he plays it looks like hes holding a pick but the he rests his hand so where does the pick go. Its like its magic. Damnit.
Nice stuff my dude. I hope you're doing okay. Would you like to make a lesson on a Cacophony song like "Concerto" (a short one) or something like Serrana by Jason Becker?
I hope I'm not bothering you with this by asking again, but I would very VERY much appreciate it if you could attempt to do a how to play for the solo in Me, Myself, My Enemy by Sinergy. Many thanks if you do it.
Dude we need to get some periphery . Garden in the bones?? Blood eagle ?? Reptile solo?? It's only smiles?? Any periphery solo honestly. I saw you did mile zero 👌 but there new stuff is so epic
Hi, Chris!!! First of all i'd like to say you are an amazing guitar player and i watch all your videos. But watching many times this one in slow motion i saw something different when you play the solo with the original song. The first part of Section 3 at your lesson is a little different. Check it out!! Thanks and regards!! You are great!!
Chris there is no doubt you are a solid player having said that, the slight improvising you do while doing this solo takes away from it for me, and of course people would say that is being nit picky but i think if you are going to cover a solo like this... you should take the time to learn it well enough to hit all the nuances of the solo.... it seems like you gave it the old "it's good enough" treatment, and you are not the only one that has done this, maybe it's a hard solo to cover... to be honest out of all the people i have seen cover this solo there is only ONE time i have seen this solo covered and done exactly the way it is from Vivian so on this one you get a "Nice Try"
Vivian Campbell is one of the ultimate 80s shredders, man has chops and feel for days.
