We don't have roads to tackle more vehicles in our cities. Poor planning and illegal encroachment has made our city roads very congested. Until our cities get cleaned, increased car sales will only lead to more traffic and accidents.

japan's public transport network is so strong and efficient that there is little incentive for japanese to buy a car, unlike in usa or india where it somewhat becomes a necessity as we dont have proper public transport systems. While I love automobiles would prefer to travel in them, public transports are much more suited for big population such as india, where buying a car is still a dream for many. Having a large car market may seem good for our economy now, but it is much more complex than that. If the road network is not able to handle the traffic then whats the point? Metropolitan cities are already facing these problems and in the near future other cities will face this as well. The work Mr. Gadkari is doing is commendable and i hope he finds the best solution to our problems

India can become a bigger market if it reduces taxes on cars. S580 costs 3.10 crore on road delhi compared to 1.67 crore in uk. Despite of the fact that it is assembled in india but not assembled in UK. Lets take example of a car with high levels of localisation brezza zxi plus. It cost 8.32 lakhs but after adding 28%GST, 22% CESS it becomes 12.48 lakhs ex showroom. 1.248 lakh rupees road tax and registration charge and 12, 480 ( TCS 1% of exshowroom price) . I have not added insurance, it also has a tax of (18%GST ) on it. After this much of tax collection, roads can be made with some amount of gold. If not gold every road could have been made as good as a race track. But most of the roads are bad quality in india. People unnecasarily hailing gadakari. I studied the policies and plans China followed while it was at youth bulge. But , , I don't find any such thing in India .
We will lose this youth power within 20 years without any significant progress.
    .
No other country could best use their youth power to lead the nation as China did since 1970s.

    • @strategicindian

I shall deny this statement as India’s Population is much better placed than China in 1978 and will surely utilize the most of this dividend if we initiate right policies...which we are doing right now.

      @@strategicindian No. We can't.
That time, , china introduced some strict laws .
There was no reservation system which is making India paralyzed.
China ignored environmental concerns at large and gave boom to industries.
Education system was changed and more Focus wad given on vocational education.
      .
Here, , we still are busy in wasting time on useless topics like who was real hero of freedom struggle for India.
      .
I don't condemn policies of Indian govt for now, , but it should have been done teo decades ago.
      .
What we do now, , shows its results after 20 years.
As if we are seeing some good policies that will use youth power to put India in global leaders list but till we will start enjoying that fruit, , ( almost after 2040), most of our youth will start getting older.
Also, , we should know that in 2022 , , our fertility rate has come down to 2.1 .
      .
Means, , any further, , it will decrease = lesser youths in future.
      .
Congres is all responsible for it for not bringing some good policies at time.
      .
      Lets take only 1 example.
Sarva Siksha Abhiyan was brought to bring every single child into education streamline.
      That's good.
But they didn't make any plan for what would happen when a skilled , educated youth army will be ready after graduation after a certain timr.
Where would they use their energy and skills and knowledge.
      .
Ths was missing there. And now, , we are just sitting on a huge pile of Unemployed ( only degree holders, not desired skilled) youth who were given goal-less education years ago.
      .
Congres should have done a great to establish industries at large scale so that these youths could be used in.
      .
We are helpless now, , can't do anything else rather than keep watching them wasting their youth energy and skills.
      .
      .
      China did this timely.
      .
When one takes education, , after a certain time, he/she will need occupation /employment.
If he/she doesn't get it, , crime will increase.
China helped industries to booom which consumed most of youth later on.
      .
      ( That's only one example ).
      .
Well. For now, , we can see some good policies by GoI for future .
( China's GDP is 19 Trillion Dollars and ours is trying to meet only 5 trillion dollars. I don't say our policies are bad, , but we are almost 30 yaers late bcoz a country can enjoy youth bulge only for max 40-50 years. We have already wasted 30).

@@strategicindian And brother , , if it's doing well, , communism is good. We can see example of China and Russia.
On the other hand, , democracy comes with lots of drawbacks too as it requires popular consensus to bring large scale changes. Govts fear of taking revolutionary steps in democracy while no such environment is there in communist Govt ( given its ideology and policies are for welfarism). Reason is simple, a common man look only for momentarily relief but doesn't possess knowledge to see long lasting visionary impacts of polices and thus loses immediate confidence in govt. But a communist Govt doesn't have to deal with such situations. .

Being visionary is great. But visionaries also has to find ways first to change the mindset of 1.4B people as well. This is the first step towards any vision coming to reality. Until, us indians learn how to respect and protect public infrastructure, we are 20 years behind China. Keeping india clean is a major problem for us, as we have been addicted to throw our filth on the streets..this problem needs to be solved first then government can find ways how to recycle human waste.Roads get modernized but our driving habits remains the same with no strict driving laws in place and no sense of mannerism staying in one lane. Everybody wants to over take their front vehicle the fastest like if they are busy like Elon Musk, but aren't becoming ELON As of yet. India will surely rise and develop the fastest but we Indians need to take responsibility to respect modern infrastructure and act as responsible citizens of india.
